Ok, Here we go again

I have a new plan. Better than no plan at all. Better than giving up.
I was introduced to a diet plan called "Beyond Diet" that my brother got in shape with. It does not count calories. It counts proteins, carbs and fats. I took their metabolism test and it was not a surprise that I have a protein metabolism. You can be a protein, carb, or combo person.
It makes sense now. I could eat a healthy breakfast sandwich and be so hungry by 9:30 because the carb content was too high. I was tempted to snack on things I should not. I would eat an apple and not feel satisfied - even hungrier. Feeling hungry was making it hard for me to stay on track.
Now, I eat three meals and two snacks a day (eat 5 times a day), spaced about 3 hours apart. Sometimes I feel so full and it might be 4 hours. That is the thing. The carb/protein ratio they have me on makes me feel full and satisfied. I have learned some new things to cook and eat. No more low-calorie wheat bread. I have Ezekiel 4:9 bread. I have cut out sugar. I avoid processed foods and eat mostly whole foods. Coconut Oil is now in my cabinet.
But then when it comes to tracking my food and having community...I love my Spark People friends and I find the tracker so easy. I don't want to start a new one.
I am going to follow the eating schedule given me by Beyond Diet, but I will track and enjoy all the resources of Spark People. I love this site!!!
I entered what I ate today following the new plan and I am within my calorie goals. So this will work for me.
There are many diet plans out there. It is not a one-size-fits-all world. But there are basic dietary principles that are the same in every good diet program. I don't want packaged diets because that does not teach you how to eat "regular" food. I don't want to follow a meal plan. I am going to use the combination of calorie counting and following the carb/protein ratios I have learned.
I have NOT gone back to my original high weight. I gained a little over half of the weight back, but now I am going back down again. It is a good feeling. I have a plan, I have a goal, and I will always appreciate Spark People.

    Sounds like you have found "The Plan" that works for you AND that you can live with for ever and ever... A plan you can stick with will work every time.
