Why can't life be simple??

Wednesday, January 13, 2016

Why can't things be simple in life (sigh) - yesterday morning I discovered I had water around my toilet and discovered it was dripping down into my basement (do you feel the moment of panic I was feeling??) I have had what I thought was a small drip when the hot water ran but I hadn't run any so that wasn't where it came from - hence it had be the toilet. After 2 hours of sopping up water (and me not using that upstairs bathroom) it quit and it all dried out. Deciding that this was the time to redo the bathroom my son and I went to a local hardware store and began the process of looking for a new counter - toilet - flooring etc. (we only walked out with some flooring and some decorative tile and a few other things we needed)

Got home around 9:30 and asking my son NOT to use the upstairs bathroom was not successful and resulted in a fight because I still wasn't sure if it was the sink or toilet that had caused this. In true ADD fashion around 11:00 he decided he needed to check out the pipes because he kept saying to him it was like the seal at the base of the toilet has come loose (it was all clear clean water - nothing nasty) soooooooo...he begins tearing out the plaster board at the back of the tub - wellllllll.....there was a metal pipe that obscured his vision so then he precedes to take down a cabinet over the toilet and create a hole so he could look down - he runs the hot water - hears what I keep saying sounds like dripping and says "not dripping - probably just the pipes expanding from the hot water" so he flushes the toilet and says "not dripping - is it dripping down into the basement?" I go check - "nope" - "Ok then it's probably just the seal that's gotten loose like I said"

I looked into the bathroom seeing 1 huge hole over the toilet and the whole back of the tub wall gone and dumped into the bathtub. I looked at him and said "Are we done for the night because I'm going to bed" (it was past 12:30 at this point (sigh)

On a good note tho this leak isn't going to cost me a plumber and thousands of dollars - on a not so good note I have some major cleanup in the bathroom today (did not having a trash bag to put that stuff in cross his mind???????? Apparently not!

Why can't life be simple? Huh? Why??

((((((((((((((((((( aaaaawwww my sweet angel, hugs ))))))))))))))))))) emoticon

BRIGHT SIDE = is that at least you have a son who cared enough to DO or TRY to DO something about the problem...

some sons or relatives could care less and do nothing about things ... seriously.

BRIGHT SIDE = at least you went to the store to buy things to HELP the situation instead of spending thousandssssssssss of dollars on a Plummer, yeh!!!!

emoticon one note of gentle advice : .... I would THINK about investing in a ONE time visit from a Plummer to like get a diagnosis or consultation of what HE thinks it is and get an estimate.... that may run like $100 investment? just food for thought. (better to be safe then sorry .... hugs)

Again VERY PROUD of you for taking a Pro-Active step
in fixing a problem, yeh!!! emoticon
