An update and me possibly turning a page in my life

Sunday, January 31, 2016

First an update on my toilet disaster - NO MORE leaks!! Nothing has been done in the bathroom (typical male - starting a handyman project and not completing it lol - no offense to those who do) - my son is using the upstairs bathroom - I'm downstairs but even with him using the upstairs there have been NO MORE water on the ground.

On - on this turning the page in my life.........I belong to a cross stitch group and they have a couple of other sub groups - one is a get healthy/fitness group. A very small group (a little over 300) vs the main group (almost 5,000) After talking with the Admin I decided to join.

I've also just turned 65 and am now a member of The Silver Sneaker's Club and get free membership to several gyms (pick one) - I chose a close YMCA and actually walked my but into it and signed up last Wednesday. The only bad thing is they offer Silver Sneakers on Tues and Thursday and I'm always gone almost from 8 in the morning until 9 at night on Tues so I can only do those things on Thursdays but I can do anything else throughout the week.

That isn't the "turning the page" moment tho. I was telling my son what I was trying to do and he said "Don't worry about cooking for me - do what you feel is necessary for yourself" First who knew that those words would come out of his mouth???!! Secondly we as moms/wives always seem to put others first and think that if we put ourselves first there we aren't doing what we've been programmed all our lives to do - take care of others.

So with that positive comment I asked if he'd be interested in me making smoothies - lighter fair foods etc. - his comment "maybe" lol That translated into "you can go ahead and make it and if I decide I want to try it I will - if not - I won't" lol That being said my son works as a warehouse supervisor and walks around 10-12 MILES a day (he has a fitbit) and since the end of December (when he bought the fitbit) he has walked over 300 miles.

So my biggest turning page.......I stopped on the way home from ceramics yesterday and bought bananas which have now been peeled and frozen - drink mix (not protein because this has sugar but I'm just dipping my toe into this pool ya know?) orange juice (I already have berries frozen) and I'm a big fan of the Mason Jar Salads/lunches/breakfast type meals and.........bought a scale - a scale - I haven't had a scale in my house for probably 25 years. Yes my son and I both weighed ourselves (at night - never again lol) but he has lost 40 lbs and I gained 7 from my weigh in from the doctor's visit last May.

So my turning page(s) this last week - joined a FB healthy group - signed up at the YMCA - had a good talk with my son about getting healthy - bought healthier items to get me started - bought a scale!! Yay me for at least getting this far!! lol
