Wow - talk about turning pages!!

Something over the last month or so has really changed me - not sure if it was IN myself or the talk I had with my son who said for me to take care of myself - which quite frankly was probably that because it took a huge weight off my shoulders because (as I've said before) we moms/wives tend to take care of everyone else first and we forget about ourselves.

1) started making and eating what they call breakfast in a jar. Looks terrible but tastes pretty good. Got the recipes off Pinterest but basically in a mason jar (short) or other container (I use a plastic container) you layer regular oats - chia seeds - some yogurt - milk (any kind) - close and shake to incorporate) - then add fruit - close up and let it sit overnight - in the morning you have instant breakfast. I've made 2 - the first was with peaches and the second bananas (favorite!!) I also add other things like brown sugar because I like sweeter oatmeal. I was really surprised at how good these were. Calorie count? I have NO idea - the next time I make it I'm going to try to figure that out because I'm eyeballing (maybe 1/4 cup oatmeal - 2 tbles chia - 2-3 teaspoon scoops yogurt etc - not real measuring)

2) I actually went to the gym!!!!! I signed up on Monday (2-1-16) but wasn't available to go until Thursday. I like the bikes and the treadmill.

OMG - it just about killed me Thursday - lol My legs were like jelly when I got off - lol But I tracked my progress and I've set the machine to distance (miles).

Then (horrors) I went back the next day (Friday)!! My distance increased and my legs were no longer jelly legs lol

I'm going to try to make it to the gym Mon - Wed - Thurs - Fri and if my Monday schedule changes then just Wed - Thurs - Fri.

And my goal is to increase my distance by 1 mile (or more) each times and hit at least 100 (or more) calories burned (that should increase with the distance increasing)

So......this turning pages - 1) bought a scale 2) eating things I don't normally eat 3) JOINED a gym 4) actually GO to the gym.

If I keep going pretty soon these "turning pages" will actually become a chapter

    Fantastic!!!! Thanks for the tip on the instant breakfast. I have heard of that but never looked into it. That sounds perfect for me.

    Good for you! Not taking care of myself and taking care of everyone else is how I got myself into this mess. Keep doing things for your health. So glad your son is encouraging you.
