Getting My Groove Back

Friday, December 02, 2016

Time sure does fly! I am 3 months into a new job that everyday feels more & more like a career rather than a job. I'm in a supervisory role & feel like a valuable asset to the organization. The pay & benefits are better than I have ever received. Due to the inevitable depature of an employee (I just mean when new management comes in & has to implement change there's almost always a loss) I have been working varied shifts. I've also been putting in a lot of additional hours to get us ready for all the changes we would be implementing as of today! While we still have a ways to go, there is better structure in place now. I feel like my schedule will settle down & I will be able to focus on myself more. Even if my schedule doesn't settle down, each day I become more comfortable & prioritize my life better. I am in such a better place & I am ready for my wellbeing efforts to follow.

I have missed out on some things socially but I've also gotten out & made connection when I know I really needed it. Exercise & healthy eating have completely fallen by the wayside, but I am craving them now so I know they won't be difficult to prioritize again. I went for a 3mile wog Thanksgiving morning & it really made me realize how much I miss being active. I am just barely keeping up on my shows, lol. Nothing has been groundbreaking or earth shattering...well aside from the season premiere of The Walking Dead. I've read 2 books. 1 a bio on President Garfield & 1 a nior detective fiction. The latter was better. The Manual of Detection by Jedidiah Berry, pick it up if you're into cleverness, the movie Inception, & rainy days.

I get to use the cardio equipment at work which I plan to begin doing next week. I am also making it a habit to do a brief flexibility sequence every morning & every evening this month. I'm going to do 1 as soon as I finish this blog! I am craving healthy foods so badly I can't wait to go shopping this weekend, which I actually have time to do!

I have an hour commute round trip which to you city folk may not sound like much, but it's quite a change for me. I have been listening to podcasts (My Favorite Murder, The Dollop, & West Wing Weekly, Serial) & just got in an audio book to start.

My Christmas shopping is also nearly done! I am just really looking forward to this month. Things have been crazy, but I am in a much better space mentally & emotionally than I have been in a very long time.

Also I'm thinking I should put this app back on my phone so I will be better about touching base with everyone :)

I'm so happy to hear that you made a move that sounds like goodness all around. I know you'll find your stride! I feel you on the exercise falling by the wayside. I am super busy too & have yet to find my pride for what works for me but am also confident that i will find it.

I live in the city and an hour commute on public transit is alot considering i live downtown. commuting sucks no matter where you live hahah but its good you found something you enjoy to pass time as it would seem like a waste if you couldn't do anything. I just found my groove back where i have been reading on the streetcar/subway & its was definitely needed & missed!

Hope your holidays treat you well & I will be right there with you kicking butt in 2017
