Goodbye and Good Riddance, 2016

Friday, December 30, 2016

2016 sucked, pure and simple.

My mom passed away in March. I was honored and blessed to be the one to care for her during the last two weeks of her life.

After that there was her estate to settle. As the executrix I immediately launched myself into the task and it became my full-time job for the next 4 months.

2016 had physical challenges. I fell on my left knee-- once in January, and again in May. It really sidelined my activity but after xrays, an MRI several doctors and all kinds of treatment, it's finally (mostly) back to normal. Thank God I didn't do permanent damage.

Then: our house! We bought it in December 2015 and started remodeling in January 2016. It took 10 months and we left absolutely NO surface untouched. We started with having every ceiling scraped to remove the popcorn. We had our kitchen and three full baths completely gutted, reconfigured, and updated. All carpet was pulled up and wood floors installed. Every baseboard was removed and replaced, every wall painted. Every doorknob, hinge, outlet, light switch and light fixture replaced. It was 10-months of having workmen in our house almost every day. We did what we could ourselves.

So here I am.

I did gain a good whack of weight the first half of the year but have managed to take most of it off. I am back at Weight Watchers. I joined to support my sister, who started in June and has lost 55 pounds to my 13! So she *IS* the "biggest loser" and I couldn't be happier for her!

So today, New Year's Eve Eve I am left with 14 pounds left to lose until I hit my goal weight, and I'm feeling very confident that I am well on my way!

I am looking forward to checking in to Spark occasionally and catching up with the lot of you.

Wishing all of us a healthy, happy, and successful 2017!

Cheers! emoticon
