Completed BLC33 15week challenge while WFPB... RESULTS!

Wednesday, April 26, 2017

I started this challenge while steadily losing eating whole food, plant based... & really was not sure I would lose any more weight so debated changing to maintenance, but opted to just ride it out as a challenger... not so much that I was not happy with the scale, but wanted to lose more belly fat. (BTW, it is very true that it is the LAST to go! ~ug!)

I really believe that diet is 99% of weight loss. Just changing the way I eat, & I already ate pretty healthy (all whole grain, no beef, chicken, or dairy)... but when I eliminated fish, meat substitutes, all processed oils & foods (my weakness was/is non-dairy creamers & tortilla chips!) & watched all other fats (limiting avocado, nuts & seeds) the pounds just melted away...without any other effort. Crazy.

It sounds hard, but really once new habits are established, it can; & is, VERY easy. And the BEST part? I feel AMAZING. Plant foods really are anti-inflammatory & hormone regulating. 53 yrs old & only wish I had tried this sooner. Can not recommend it high enough. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Overall this 15wk challenge I have lost 9.6 pounds and 7.75 inches! emoticon emoticon emoticon And this is measuring rounding up whenever questionable...so in reality, it could have been more... close enough ;-)

Overall body fat decreased 3%... hard to know for sure as we all are aware that the body fat measurement on these scales bounce around like crazy...but on average mine has been between 24-26% vs 27-28% prior... safe to say it has been steadily decreasing.

So warning.... this lifestyle is very expensive as you WILL need a new wardrobe once completed! LOL!
The breakdown:
Hips down 2inches
Waist (at Belly Button): down 1inch
Thighs down 1 inch each
Arms down 3/4 inch each
Bust down 1 1/4 inch

Things I need to work on still... Well, I finally got in a kettlebell workout on Monday & I am still feeling it today! It was an easy 15min Lauren Brookes workout (love her) that apparently hit all the right spots because I can feel my glutes whenever I climb stairs or get in & out of my daily driver...it is lifted, but it doesn't usually hurt to climb in it! It is a 'good' sore that I know everyone here understands. Sticking with yoga for a few days until the ache subsides some, then I'll give the kettle bells another go.

Funny, I used to workout with the idea of 'melting' the fat. I don't think that way now. Now that I can actually SEE my muscles with the fat mostly gone, I would like to tone those muscles up!

While hiking is great & all, nothing beats those KB workouts. They are a nice mix of cardio & strength... who can argue with that? SO my goal is to increase them. My husband purchased more KBs, so we have a nice variety sitting there waiting for me... actually US...he does them too! emoticon emoticon

So my future plan is to continue WFPB & to do just enough KB workouts to make it sustainable in my everyday life. That along with some hikes & yoga thrown in here & there. emoticon
