Feeling Blessed!

Monday, January 29, 2018

Last night, my car stalled and I ended stuck faraway on the Maryland side of New Hampshire Ave. First, I called my son and immediately he was on his way. Second, I called GEICO to request a tow; destination: the auto repair shop in Baltimore where my son once worked. Third, I called 911 to request that police bring flashers to alert drivers of my stalled vehicle – the police arrived in less than 15 minutes. As I sat waiting, I started thinking how blessed I am to have my son in my life.

This morning, I am humbled thinking how God worked through my son and rescued me! It took about 35 minutes for my son to arrive from DC. The tow took ages to arrive, and the driver tried giving me the ‘shuffle’; so, I put my son on the phone. Immediately, the driver changed his tune and miraculously located us within 10 minutes. My son rode with the tow and I drove his car. From that point forward, it was smooth sailing.

After leaving my car at the auto shop in Baltimore, MD, my son drove us back to Washington, DC which was about 40 miles away. While on the road, we listened to a YouTube mix of Tracy Chapman. My son dropped me at home, and I made myself a soothing cup of warm milk.

Next, I went to my room, got on my knees and prayed. With tears in my eyes I thanked God for my son! Many times, life gets overwhelming and I want to give up – my son is the reason I continue moving forward.

As of late, I’ve been hit with many negative blows and am going through a current situation in addition to my car. I’ve searched within to examine myself and ask, “What is it I’m doing wrong?” The only answer I could think of, “I’m not tithing.” Honestly, I don’t have much money to tithe. Nonetheless, when I attend service, I’ll sacrifice and make a donation.

Through it all, life is good and I cannot complain! God has given me a very good life. Yes, I’ve been in a dark patch for quite a while; and, am tempted to question, “Why?” However, I must remember, “Everything that happens in my life is always for my benefit, even if it isn’t apparent at the time.” (Amen)
