Making Up For Lost Time

How did 2017 whiz by me without a single blog entry? It was a dreadful year, maybe that's how. The year started off with a head/chest cold that I couldn't seem to shake and then in July, after only a few bike rides, I came down with mononucleosis. I literally sat on my couch and did nothing but stuff my face because I had no energy to do anything else.

You can imagine where that got me. I finally recuperated from that, and then the excess weight put such a burden on my feet that plantar fascitis set in and my left foot became virtually unusable, making my right leg act basically as a crutch. So, not exactly a banner year.

A local chiropractor came to our TOPS meeting and delivered a presentation about the Whole 30 program and the promise of reduced inflammation through dietary changes drew me in.

I started Whole 30 in the beginning of January and my foot feels almost good as new. My diet has changed and I have lost over 10#. I am hopeful that I can resume my old, active lifestyle.

Grocery shopping and food preparation take up a lot more of my time but I am eating well, and not obsessed with nighttime snacking. So far, so good. One day at a time.
