A Summer Blog, part twenty-five

Today’s thoughts are tangled, but sitting quietly for an hour calms them and I am settled and thinking by the end of my session. It is amazing how much the sun has changed position since I began this experiment. I have rearranged my chair several times over the past days to take advantage of the early morning sun. Summer is in progress and will end all too quickly. It reminds me of a novel by Heinlein: A Door into Summer. The plot revolves around time travel and finding that sweet spot where you are happy in your own skin, but the title comes from the protagonist’s cat. When the cat needs to go out in the winter, he insists on checking each door to the outside as if to see if one opens to summer. I am like the cat—always trying for the shortcut before settling into the reality of whatever needs doing. I have to go through winter before reaching summer again. It rained again last evening and the morning was again fresh and sweet smelling. A wonderful way to start the day.
