I crashed through a barrier today and I am trying not to dwell on it too much, but I am at a weight that I haven’t seen since the mid 1990’s.
Finally, at the age of 63, I think I may have gained enough momentum to lose the excess weight that I have carried much too long on my 5’1” body.
I am still not looking for a quick fix but I have a knee that has been protesting since I punished it by asking it to bear the brunt of all my considerable weight when I took a tumble riding my bike.
It has been complaining since about 2004, when my maiden bike voyage turned into a disaster. I didn’t get back on that bike until Spring of 2015, and then I rode it hard because I became over 80# lighter.
The occasional crash still happened and that knee sustained more injuries.
Bad knee, bad times. But I found some degree of success this year when I started my first Whole 30 in January. I am over 40# down, working out on a stationary bike at the local YMCA and strengthening my leg muscles.
I will ride again, but protected this time with a knee pad. I want to keep decreasing the stress on my knee and increasing my activity.
Not long ago I enjoyed ballroom dance and getting back out on the dance floor is next on my list.
The only crashes in my future are the barriers I am going to break through
