Ok so I'm reeeeaaallllllly terrible at counting calories every single day! I know it's an effective way to lose weight but I just can't stay consistent with it, so I'm looking for something that I can do on autopilot.
I have lost a significant amount of weight in the past by fasting for weeks at a time, but it had a negative effect on my health, because I was doing it too often and for too many days at a time. So going with the flow here, I decided to use several different things together to get me steadily... but safely to my goal.
First, I fast for 24hrs every other day. It actually works out to at least one meal a day because I end the fast at 6pm, so on fasting days, I eat supper after 6pm. On feasting days I eat a small breakfast and small lunch and have supper before 6pm before I start my next fast.
Second, I use a salad plate instead of a dinner plate, filling it half full of veggies, one quarter protein and one quarter healthy carbs. I treat myself to a glass of red wine with dinner and a small piece of chocolate if I was a good girl that day. lol
I exercise every morning so I don't cut carbs out entirely, just try to keep them to healthy ones for the most part. ;-) On feasting days I work out with weights and go to the gym for a little over an hour. On fasting days, I just do some cardio so it's less than an hour.
I count calories from time to time just as a check, but it's just because I'm curious and so I can adjust my food choices based on how I'm doing with the weight loss.
I've got around 70 lbs left to lose so it's going to take however long it takes. I have a goal but not a deadline. I'm still working on being kinder to myself and listening to my body while at the same time pushing myself just enough to make progress but not so much I hurt myself and lose ground.
This is not a race, this is our lives!
