Today is the final weigh-in for the Fall 5% Challenge and although I did not make my 5% goal, I did lose 8 pounds in the 8 weeks of the challenge. THIS IS THE BEST I HAVE EVER DONE IN ANY OF THE MANY CHALLENGES I HAVE PARTICIPATED IN! I am very happy with my progress to say the least and I hope to continue with the momentum of gradual weight loss.
I have to thank my teammates and all the wonderful leaders on The Spirited Underdogs Team. They are a wonderful team. They give you plenty of encouragement and a little push now and then when you need one! I often feel sluggish, I think of the other "Dawgs" in my kennel and I'll pick myself up and start pulling that dog sled. I can almost hear Diane yelling "MUSH" all the way from Maine- LOL.
This fall has been a difficult time for me but I've also had a lot of blessings. I am lucky enough to have the time to care for myself. It takes a lot of time to get in the exercise that I feel I need. Osteoarthritis is taking a toll on my body and my health care team wants me to keep moving- the theme of the day is "Use it of Lose it" . I set my exercise goals and I try everyday to fulfill them. I make exercise and physical therapy a priority! I try hard. I may fall short but I try hard again the next week.
Within the first few weeks of the challenge, my team- The Spirited UnderDawgs - and their leadership noticed how hard I was working and awarded me with "Most Improved Dawg" ! I have to tell you, it was so nice to have someone notice my hard work that it gave me an extra boost of confidence and I pushed through some of the pain in my knee, the muscle aches and continued on with my program. It all seems to be working. My muscles are getting firmer :-) and my stamina is improving.
One day I came home from a workout at the pool and I went online to Spark to log my time into the challenge thread. I suddenly noticed I had been made "Doggie of the Day" with all the congratulatory, top of the Doghouse, greetings and goodies that entails. Well... I was tickled pink and ran upstairs, quickly disrobed and jumped (umm- gingerly stepped onto) the scale. Guess what!! -- I WAS MADE DOGGIE OF THE DAY ON THE VERY DAY I FINALLY MADE IT INTO ONEDERLAND!!!
I am here to stay. Staying in Onederland with my wonderful Spirited UnderDawgs and pulling the dog sled as hard as I can!
