"The journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step."

When I know I am going to go visit my friends who live a good six hour drive away, I am excited about my visit and that I will be able to see them and do things with them. What I don't like at my age is the thought of the better than six hour drive. But once I get everything in the car, and head out, the dread of the drive is gone. I stop along the way and get out and walk around and rest and along the way I listen to my audiobooks and soon the time has passed. I don't even think of turning around and going home.
That's the way I felt about changing my unhealthy life style. Once I started on the road to physical well-being, I have found that the "drive" isn't so bad and that I will reach my destination, as long as I don't turn around and go back home. I've come too far to do that. Occasionally, I will stop along the way and rest and I will occupy my mind with all the wisdom of those who have gone down the same road and reached their destination.
By the way, before each trip I ask God to give me travelling mercies. I have done this each day on this the most important journey of my life, my journey with SparkPeople.
