Hi all emoticon

I just posted this as a response to a blog I just read. The member was concerned she may never lose weight and be successful in achieving a future healthy lifestyle. Her plea brought me back to the many years I struggled to find a stable regular healthy lifestyle. It seemed like an impossible dream. My dream came true this year. I hit maintenance. I now understand how to eat and stay active in a healthy manner. I no longer am in denial and make excuses for not doing what is healthy and hearty. Well, I take it back. I do make excuses and sometimes skip exercises and eat peanut butter just because. Lol. The difference is I am aware of what I'm doing. and I am able to stop it in it's tracks. "One swan does not make a summer."

Below is what I wrote in my friend's blog. I hope I made a difference, I really do...

I have rheumatoid arthritis. It's a systemic auto-immune disorder that affects joints and organs alike. I have been on biologic medicine and low level chemo for 12 years. My doc's approach is aggressive. I am very fortunate, because he is right on top of the cutting edge of Gold Standard treatments. Between the meds and doing Tai Chi, swimming and exercise I have achieved a lot. My blood pressure is down, so no med, my Cholesterol is also down. My HDL is up and LDL down which is super great and I finally got my Triglycerides down (not eating a lot of sugary carbs). I grew up with the Mediterranean Diet and I really like it. As long as I don't over eat at meal time and snack in between I'm okay. After me trying and stumbling for several years I finally have settled into a healthy lifestyle of eating well and staying active. I know everyone is different, but there's one thing I have noticed with all the successful Sparkers here. They have made a serious commitment and learned to keep it.

My advise is just NEVER GIVE UP! For me it's been the magic.

Thanks!
