Sunday 5/17

I was really hoping to get more stuff out of the old house today, but it's raining again. The only day all week I have time to go and I can't. Hopefully, the coming week will be better and I'm not stuck late at work multiple nights. Ah, well, at least tomorrow is garbage day and I can drag more of the stuff from the garage out to the curb,

I boiled up the last of the red potatoes the other day and I think I will make mashed out of what I haven't already eaten. Going to try using coconut milk - that should make them nice and creamy. I need to start doing more batch cooking now that the big freezer is here at the new house, Good thing it's one of the old ones and can be used in a garage since there's no way it would fit down the basement stairs and make the turn into the door. That freezer was my first Christmas present from my husband the year we got married and it still runs great.

What I really want to do is make a Meijer's run and load up on frozen veggies - my son thinks a pound bag of veggies is a single serving. I think that's wonderful, but it means I go through frozen veggies pretty fast since we both eat them in large quantities. Unfortunately, Meijer senior hours is 7-8 on Tuesdays when I have to be at work and I have no idea when else might be a safe time to go. I try to never go grocery shopping on the weekends even before the virus changed our lives.

Have you looked into the farm delivery places that have cropped up all over? (pun intended) Barn2Door is one we have locally. Not sure what you'd have, but they bring an awesome box of farm produce to your door, you don't even have to be home to get it!

Our senior hour is also 7 to 8, Well that doesn't work for us, as I have chores and things to do at that hour, so I just go later, but so far it has been easy to stay 6 ft. away from everyone, and they have arrows all over the store as to what direction you should follow, but of course there are those that can't read a sign right in front of them, but I just get close to the shelving and turn my back to them and let them pass. But I have to go either tomorrow or Tuesday to pick up the inhaler that was available when we were there last week.

There are so many retired seniors where I live that it’s not worth shopping the senior hours, still too crowded. I’m enjoying online shopping with pickup. We could have them delivered, but it’s good to go for a drive occasionally. Planning to pick up the day after ordering even gives me the opportunity to add to the list since something is always forgotten! Too bad about the rainy day, but you’ll surely find other things to do.
