I have been drowning for almost a year now, to be honest, probably closer to 3 years since mom passed away. I need / want to get myself together and fight on. I gained back 30 of the 57 pounds I lost and do not want to gain back anymore......

    I find myself going to the grocery store just to get some walking exercise for my knees wearing my mask. I've put on 15 lbs since March when we were told to stay home.When my father passed away in 1999 I put on 30 lbs. It took me years to get over losing my mother in 1991 and then my brother in 1993. Eventually the sad feelings pass. After a car accident that left me unable to walk because of a broken ankle in 2002 I got up to 257. Sparkpeople has helped me so much since 2007. I just tell myself to never give up! emoticon

    Oh, Debbie! I can feel what you're saying and it hurts deep inside. We've spent so many years struggling, so many years unhappy with ourselves and so many years feeling discouraged and disappointed. But I'm so impressed that you are still here, still reaching out, still baring your soul: that demonstrates a lot of positivity inside you, even when your emotions are feeling quite the opposite. While you are going through this difficult time, you stand as a beacon in the night for those of us who want to emulate your healthy actions here on SP. Remember that many of us are drawing strength from your never-give-up attitude. And that means a lot to us!

    Grief is not an easy journey. My husband of 47 years died over three years ago. I've really struggled and still have a long way to go before feeling normal again. That might not ever happen. I use SP and exercise as part of what I do each day to keep my mind occupied. It helps to stay mentally busy and not dwell of what you don't have. My mom died two years before him. It's tough. But keep yourself distracted and doing something positive. Good luck!

    Time to start again. Establish your good habits once more. Track and set plans for exercise. One step at a time. Plan your meals and stick to it. Make healthy choices when ever possible. You did this once and you can do it again. Stop it now while you are aware of it. Don't start tomorrow, start now. emoticon

    Well staying connected here is a good start to accountability. Don't give up! You are worth the effort.

    Start w/one goal. Maybe exercise/movement for 10 min./day and adding on as you accomplish goals.

    Sadly, I've put most of my weight back on again for the 72 millionth time and maybe more. So, all I can advise is NEVER give up.

    We've made it so many times before. So, we'll get to that point where we've had enough that and begin the hard work again. And we WILL do it like all the other times before only this time let's take a longer journey.

    Let's try once we arrive at our goal to continue our journey. Let's decide this time it will be our journey for life. So, we'll continue to do those things that get us to goal even after we arrive because we know they work and how much every part of our being feels so much better. We know these things from our previous successes, but this time we know not to stop the journey or backtrack because we've done it so many times before and we find ourselves feeling so miserable and we know we don't like feeling this way.

    So, when we begin our journey this time let's make it a lifetime one and don't beat yourself up along the way. Make it a fun and meaningful journey.
