Good bye 2020

Thursday, December 31, 2020

2020, as we all know, has had it's challenges, but it is not the worst year I can recall in my life. There have been several that take the top spots.

Looking back on the lives my parents lived, it would not have been the worst year for them either.
What horrible things were encountered, especially with my mother, living in war torn Germany during WWII, yet my family remained strong upbeat, hopeful and never gave up on making things better for us.

So I will count the many blessings of 2020 and appreciate the lessons learned.
I will try to live up to the standards my parents set and look forward to this next year with a hopeful heart and a plan in place, knowing that my loved ones watch and guide from above with the light of God's love.

Looking back on 2020, I have been blessed with good health, a back that has gotten considerably better. I have kept working when many have not been able to and even with some very close calls, I have not lost any loved ones.
Coffee across the miles every week with a spark friend and other friends and family staying in touch to warm the heart
I even took a week long vacation! Something I have not done since 1979!
There were home repairs made and I welcomed a new kitten into my home.

These are just a few of the beautiful things that 2020 brought me.
I can't wait to see what 2021 will bring.

Wishing you all a beautiful ending to this year and the very best of beginnings for the next.

Goals and resolutions you ask? Well, maybe writing more blogs and that will be mentioned then. emoticon
Thank you to my team mates that motivated me to get back to blog writing.

I would have posted my usual photos, but spark is not uploading them at the moment.

Wow Chris... you are certainly counting your blessings in this blog. I love the way the blog reads, ie the sense of gratitude and the choice to view what was positive about last year. And there were positives.

"So I will count the many blessings of 2020 and appreciate the lessons learned." I love that line and if you don't mind I would like to share in ownership of those words and use them to apply to my own transition into 2021.

Today there is bright sunshine in our part of Michigan. I will share the Mary Oliver line with you...."Hello sun in my face, Hello you who made the morning and spread it over the fields....watch now how I start the day in happiness and kindness."

Your blog reminded me of of that one....
sorry I am a little late on responding to your blog.

As a friend of mine likes to say... "we are staggering onward, rejoicing."

Lots of ups and downs, which year doesn't have them? I don't know but 2020 hasn't been so bad to my eyes. Lots of silver linings out of it. And the cherry on top: my newest grandson was born this year and no deaths from dear ones. Can't ask for more. Thank you. Happy New Year, cheers emoticon emoticon

Wonderful blog Chris, I enjoyed reading it. You actually had a pretty good year and your hopes for the coming year will all come true, I'm sure. I don't make resolutions but I do make goals, I'd rather work on them all year and do my best to stay healthy, safe and perhaps a bit slimmer.

Wishing you a very happy & healthy 2021. Cheers!

How nice to read a blog saying goodbye to 2020 but not listing everything 'wrong' ... Instead you found the good and i admire that. It actually was a good year for me in a number of ways. My first book was published the end of January--something i am very proud of. I wish you the best with your 'goals.' ... see you next year! ha ha .... Our last day!
