Northern Flickers - two species were at the suet feeder today

Yellow-shafted Northern Flicker - yellow tail feathers

Red-shafted Northern Flicker - red tail feathers

Both are large woodpeckers. Usually "Yellow-shafted" is found in eastern and northern North America, while the "Red-shafted" is found in western North America. That is why the yellow-shafted one is considered rare in my area on Vancouver Island, BC.
