This year May was a wonderful month for me. Three out of five weekends spent with my dear girl! Every year at Christmas she gives us a calendar she's has made full of memories of our good times and I hated turning the page of May's- here's the page, magnets hold it to the frig.
May Day was my birthday and we went to see Tacy. For my gift she took me to Knott's Berry Farm for a Boysenberry food tasting. It was my 1st visit since the early 70s when they just had the kitchen (we went for the fried chicken) and mule rides, you could "mine" for gold. It was dry and dusty, like an Old West town. I did not recognize the place! But they did social distancing well and made sure masks were worn so I felt comfortable.
Our first tasting - Boysenberry Sangria, Wings with Boysenberry BBQ sauce. YUM!
Yes, I had a second Boysenberry Sangria! They were good and my first alcohol in over a year, let's not tell my doctor (actually he doesn't have a problem with 2 drinks in a year), When sitting at a table you may take off your mask, but you cannot drink or eat and walk with a mask- you get spoken to! (we were good).
Then for Mother's Day she got us tickets to Disneyland. It was at 25% capacity so our tickets were for the 17th, the first date she could get. I took the train to see her. She lives about a block from South Coast Plaza (largest shopping center on West Coast) so we walked to dinner and ate in a restaurant, 1st time in 14 months. Great distancing, nothing like the crowds here we see. Now you'll get hit with Disneyland pictures!
It's a long walk from the parking structure to the entrance!!!
Front seat of Thunder Mountain!!! so Much Fun
At the Haunted Mansion we were invited to the "Secret Entrance" (unlike the little girl watching us enter) This cuts a lot of time waiting as we missed the "stretching room" which I didn't care for as it was lots of people packed in a small room! (don't like crowds!)
We were the only ones on the car for Space Mountain- Amazing, and that's the line for Star Tours, normally 4 packed lanes, here only one lane and very few bodies!!!
Tea cups! Tacy does love their churros - I don't get it. The designated eating ares were spaced well but sure filled up fast.
We did go into California Adventure.
The rollercoaster, again we were in the front seat! Damn! This is not like an old time wooden pier coaster. Honestly, I told Tacy I was in shock after it and we sat for 25 minutes in a designated eating area where Tacy slowly drank a soda (we usually only sit when on a ride when there!!!) For a simple ride we then got on the Ferris wheel, but we got in a swinging gondola, mistake. First time in my 67 years I got sick on an amusement ride. Luckily we carry extra bags so no mess was made!!!
Also the first time I left Disneyland before closing. I felt a failure. But we had a blast. I was asleep by 8 PM
On my train ride home taken between Carpinteria and Montecito:
