Hi everyone! Brody here...
Mom says this Sparky place is going away and lots of people are sad about it. So I thought I would share happy news! You might remember that my last message shared sad news that my big brother, Riley, and I had retired from our jobs as therapy dogs. Then we had to stop visiting our people due to that Co-Vid thing. Riley and I were very confused and sad. It was a long, long time without getting all the attention we were used to. Of course, we had our Mom. She said we saved her sanity and she gave us lots and lots of snuggles. She used to call me her shadow. Now I stick to her like glue.
Back when I was her shadow, I followed her everywhere. One day we went into the "spare" room. It's exciting to go in there because the door is almost always closed and she keeps our extra treats and toys in there. So I'm always ready to follow her in and sniff around. One day I was so busy sniffing to notice she walked out and shut the door. So I sat patiently waiting for the door to open again. And waited. Eventually, after a really long time (about 10 minutes I think) I heard her calling me. Then she called me again - louder. And louder. Then I heard her go outside and call me. (I don't know why... I never get to go outside by myself.) After I waited even longer the door opened. She was so happy to see me she kissed my face all over. I guess she thought I got out and got lost or something. Silly her. I knew where I was the whole time.
O.K. Mom said to stop telling stories about her and tell you our big news...
Riley and I are going to make visits again!!! We are going back to one of the places we visited for years. A couple of our dog friends from "before" are going to be there too! The people love us at this place and they don't care if we are certified or not... just as long as Mom has her shots (which she does.) We can't wait!!
This picture is us practicing our therapy on our Great-Grandma just last week. We know she is very old (almost 99 human years!) and we are very careful when we are around her. We stay "off" which means "No jumping!!" We really like to sit with her on the couch cause she pets us - a lot. We also watch very carefully when she is walking because she can't see us and sometimes she puts her walker-thingie down awful close to our paws and tails so it's our job to stay out of the way. Anyway, we are so excited. Mom is happy too. And,as soon as we visit, all of the people there will be happy too. It's a win - win - win!
