I finally got my sewing room cleaned out and reorganized. Oh my, I didn't know I had so many quilt projects stashed away. I'll need to live to 150 to get them all finished. What should I start first?

I'm a beginning quilter from MD. I've been in our quilt guild for years, but I do more watching and listening than I do quilting. I'm becoming the Tablerunner Queen. I have made quite a few, each one trying to get a bit more advanced and try new techniques. I'm currently collecting and exchanging 5" squares to make a Nickle Quilt. I'm in a mini quilt group, there are 6 of us, we meet weekly and exchange Civil War Repros. We will all start with the same fabric and each make our own quilts. It will be fun to see all the completed quilts. If i can keep my hands busy quilting maybe i won't eat so much. Definitely need to lose weight. - s

I already love the nutrition tracker and think it will be a big help in monitoring my food intake. I've been doing cardio every day for the past month (I lost 10 pounds!) and now am at the stage where I really need to watch what I eat.

I was in the Seattle area in February visiting relatives. It's a nice area but it snowed my last 2 days there and for awhile I was worried that I wouldn't be able to fly out on time. My sister in law lives there and has a sewing/quilting/craft room that I drooled all over! She sent me home with a suitcase full of fabric and some books. emoticon

I hope you weren't here when we had all of the snow! It shut down everything for about a week. Our weather is much nicer now!

I agree about having something to work on in the evenings but sometimes I"m so tired that I don't trust myself to sew well! Weekends are much easier and I can get more done on my projects BUT they also aren't as structured so there are more opportunities to snack during the day. During the week I don't have a lot of time at work to eat so my diet goes better on those days. emoticon

Welcome! I agree with having handwork to do in the evening. It really helps me to keep from nibbling in the evening.

Hello from the Olympic Peninsula, WA state. One of the great ways of not feeding my face at night in front of the TV is to have hand quilting that has to be done, such as binding a quilt. I save all my quilting hand work for evenings. It works!!

Welcome to the team, glad you joined us. I suggest you start with the nutrition tracker. You will be amazed how much it will help adjust what you eat. I couldn't believe what I was actually eating. Don't try to start a big strength training program, cardiac program, and adjust your nutrition all at once. It will be just too overwhelming. Concentrate on one thing at a time, and add something every 2-3 weeks when you are feeling more comfortable with the changes.

I'm 46, have 4 children (2 in college and 2 in high school), have been married for 25 years, and just started quilting about 18 months ago. My weight gain was gradual over the past 10 years but I refuse to purchase larger size clothing and need to lose a total of 20 pounds. Although I teach high school, attend my kids activities, and am involved in the women's ministry at church, I try to find time to quilt every week because I find it relaxes me! My most difficult time of day with food is weeknights as I am too tired to quilt so I end up eating out of boredom. I've done better for the past month but am hoping to get a boost of motivation from using this site. :)
