SARAHELLIS3, sounds like you are on track.

I found that when I was weighing every day, I got really stressed out -- up and down or no weight loss. AUGH!

I know what I need to do, portion control and exercise and drink water and make healthy choices. It's the doing it, that for me, I need to want to do more than I thinking I have to do.

One step at a time!

I have done meditation before. It has helped with my anxiety. Being still and quiet is a challenge for me but I am learning to practice this on a daily basis.

Tai Chi and Qi Gong are wonderful for breath control and stress relief. It is also beautiful and if you take a class it is pretty too watch as well. You remember what you need to remember when you do it alone.

Thanks for the replies, people. Anyone try meditation or Tai Chi or Qi Gong?

Unfortunately when dealing with big stress for long periods of time we learn to "live" at that stress level, so when the stress is removed it really is tough to go back to what used to be normal. Your normal changed. But you can have a new normal, peaceful and joyful.

For me, I need to draw near to God and be aware of negativity or triggers to go away from where I want to be.

Hope life turns to a time of peace and joy!

Hazel, it might be helpful to discuss that with a therapist. They can often help to sort out feelings and make sense of those emotions. It can take some time to come to terms with all that has happened to you in that two year period. Journaling might help you to sort it out on your own, but it would be quiciker if you fine the right person to talk with and get things out in the open with help there to help you go through it.

I don't want to minimize real PTSD, but I've read that after a very stressful period or life change, one's body & mind will continue to be stressed out. Anybody here experiencing that? I went through a busy, stressful two-year period, and now that life is quieter, I should be happy and peaceful. But it feels like now that I have the time to think, I am finally starting to process all that information and come to terms with it, which is probably healthy, but emotional. Also, my body & mind are used to the high stress level, and I think they are still operating at that level. Need to learn how to let things go & slow down! Anyone want to talk about that?
