Hi, all!
This is my second time on this team and I'm glad to return! I gave up on myself for several years and quit "sparking" as I dealt with my mother's care and death and with my own medical issues.
My name is Sheila and I'm 71 years old. I live in northeastern Ohio, about a 40 minute drive south of Cleveland. I'm single, a retired teacher, and have two cats (Squeak and Ping). I have a caretaker who comes in for 8 hours four days a week and am alone the other three.
I'm just getting back to walking and am not using my walker when indoors (using a rollator when walking outside). I'm up to a half mile almost every day! I'm ready to start working with seated exercise videos, too. I think I could have started that physically a few weeks ago but needed to be mentally ready! (I had surgery the second week of March.)
Sheila

I am focused on my goals, determined to reach them, and positive that I will!

Hi everyone. I'm Elayne, aka SassyColorist. I live in central Fl. and I am 71 with a lot of health issues. I do not let my health get me down. I have a peddler that I will start using again now that I'm back on Spark after a long hiatus. My main issues are COPD and both kinds of arthritis.

I am a retired professional musician and up until a year ago I played in my church band. I had to step down due to m health issues.

I live in central Fl. with my dear husband of 40 years, and our cat named Max who will be 10 yrs. old next month.

I am a colorist and am an avid reader.

That's about it for now. emoticon

Hi everyone,
Just wanted to stop by and introduce myself.
My name is Annie and I'm 38 years old from Canada.
I live with my husband of the past 17 years, my brother and our little dog.
I suffer from a lot of health issues and the DVDs from Anne Pringle Burnell have been so helpful so far to start moving my body again and exercise daily.
I really enjoy them and I thought it would be nice to be part of this group.
Thank you for accepting me and I wish you all and amazing evening.

Hi....I'm happy to find this team. Joined others but this appears to be the best fit. I am a happy and enthusiastic introvert. I enjoy people individually or in small groups, love books, classical and Celtic music, rocks, mountains, cats....actually I love nature in all her forms.
I am a retired mental health therapist....specialized in severe mental illness and worked as both a therapist and director of a mental health facility for the acutely mentally ill homeless and poor. My biggest challenge these days is support/caretaking....of my 95 yr. old mother, of my husband who has stage 4 metastatic ocular melanoma, and of my 11 year old cat who has chronic pancreatitis!. I find great peace and pleasure in the mountains and spend much of my summer and early fall walking and hiking in the Yellowstone area. Winters we spend indoors, but I love the ice and snow....crystalline beauty. I've been active on SP on an off for some years....this time it's to goal and then maintenance. Have changed to a new eating pattern (semi-vegetarian) and it seems to be right for me (no, I'm not evangelizing....I believe that we all have different needs) and I feel better than I've felt for years. Be well, all.....and have a great day!

Hi all! My name is Bobbie and I'm 59 years old. I live in Canada, and have been a member of Spark People for many years. I haven't been active with SP for quite a long time now, and really feel the need for some motivation and encouragement. I want to be one of those people who gets stronger and better with age. emoticon I lost quite a bit of weight several years ago, but it has slowly crept back on as I've gotten older, and sadly, more sedentary in my lifestyle. I need to get active again and treat my body with the love and respect it deserves. I love my life and I want to live it a long time! Any help and encouragement will be gladly received. emoticon

Hello, everyone, happy Independence Day! I am Janet, age 70, a shorty (4'9"--or maybe 4'8"). I've been on SparkPeople since 2006, but have been more consistent in the last year. I have worked hard over the last few years to learn and practice healthier eating habits, but I have not seen results in weight loss (yet). I joined several "seniors" teams in the last week, but think this is the one that will be my best "match"--so I joined the chair exercise goal here. I've been doing chair exercise for a couple of years, also use a rebounder and exercise bike a little bit.

I live in Central Illinois, am a widow, have two grown sons, and retired in 2007 after 25 years on the staff of a Christian homeless shelter ministry. I now do volunteer editing for my church, the shelter, and a ministry in Connecticut (thanks to computers, I can do that!). I look forward to getting to know y'all! Charge!!

Hi team, I am glad to be joining a seniors team. I am looking forward to being part of this team and supporting the team goals. I am a Christian woman in my mid-sixties. I am married to a great husband who has stuck with me and helped me when my disabilities surged into my life over 5 years ago. I am in this for the long haul. I have about 90 lbs to lose now. Have a wonderful day! emoticon

Happy to meet you Sharon, I am new to the team too ,I think most of us have been on extreme diets and know now it had to be sensible eating . I read recently the word diet originally meant "way of life " , i dislike the word diet , it's a word that's made us groan and dread , yes go slowly and steadily now.
I admire you working with special needs children .
Sorry you were not with us on your birthday but we can help you celebrate now, i am a May girl too ,Taurus ! I look forward to getting to know you , Ree in England .

Hello everyone, my name is Sharon. I just turned 70 and was so glad to find this team. I am looking forward to doing some sitting exercises. Right now I have been able to do walking and I use Walk Away the Pounds Videos with Leslie Sansone, but I have arthritis and fibromyalgia and to be honest if it doesn't hurt, it isn't working so I want to learn to do other types of exercises so that I will be prepared for the eventual time when I may not be able to do what I do now. I need to lose a lot of weight, but for some reason I have been pretty well stuck where I am right now. My dr. said that I messed up my metabolism in doing Physician's Quick Weight Loss and Drs. Quick Weight Loss about 15 years ago. They put you on very low calories, protein, etc. and give you B-12 shots but do not teach you how to maintain your loss. I lost very quickly, but it messed me up for life. So I just want to slowly get down below 200 and then I will try to go farther.

I stay busy as I work with special needs children in our Christian School and I help my husband do Scrap Metal Work.

Looking forward to getting to know all of you!

Hi again Linda. I'm sorry I didn't get back in here to answer you more, I hadn't gotten a notice that you'd been! Just saw your last post as I came in to welcome Marsha.

Are you doing any of the exercises on this team? It's great when we can sit in our chair, put them on our computer and follow along!

I hope when the weather gets nicer you'll be able to get out and try walking.

Come on the chat thread, it's a quiet one but the ladies are very nice.

emoticon Hi Marsha. Very nice to see you here! Are you able to do any exercise with your spinal condition? If so, Anne has some very good ones here. I put them on, on my laptop, then follow them. It's great that you like to read, crochet, knit and do needlepoint, that keeps your hands & mind occupied and fills in time.

I come from a big family of 7 but all are gone except one sister and I. We do have an older sister still but she is in a nursing home far from here and we're unable to visit her. I also have a large family of my own and hubby's combined.

We are a nice spark family on the puter, as you've found out on our Happy Healthy Sparkers team. I'm so happy that you joined us there and now here!

I'll look for you on any threads that you wish to come on.

emoticon Gloria and Irene...I'm here. Thank you both for the invitation.

I'm Marsha from Tennessee. I have a condition of my spine where the spinal canal in two vertebrae in my lower back are closing around my spinal cord. I can't stand very long, and when I sit I need to have me legs up on a footstool or recliner or my legs go numb. I also have bursitis pretty bad in one hip, and arthritis in hips, knees, and ankles. I haven't worked in almost two years and am on long term disability while applying for social security disability.

I read, crochet, knit, and do needlepoint. Now that I'm no longer working, I have the TV on almost all the time. I live alone, divorced when I was very young, no children, no siblings...so I'm pretty much on my own. I have met some wonderful people on Spark People, and try to check in every evening.

Hi Gloria, thank you.so much. Yes I can see how wonderful those exercise video would be for me. The most exercise I get is when I vacuum the carpet from one of our wheeled dining room chairs, then the next best thing is walking through 2 rooms. I hope this spring once it gets nicer here to try getting out & walking. I use a rollator & i need to sit every 5 minutes or so. But then again maybe if I start these exercises now, I just might be able to be on my feet longer. I'm looking forward to giving it a try anyway. I had also joined another team for chair exercises so between the 2 I should be in good shape ( literally if given enough time. Good night & God bless

Hi Linda, I'm so glad Irene invited you to join our team here! Doesn't matter what age you are, you're very welcome with us!

Anne's exercise videos are the greatest and not hard for us to do. They help keep us moving and mobile. Do the ones that interest you and I'm sure they will help your body.

Come on the chat thread and any/all threads that you wish, they are there for you!

Thank you for the invite Didmis or Irene. I was looking over the message boards & checking out Annebernell's video exercises. There was one I would be unable to do but the rest I could without too much wear & tear on the old body. Actually I'm not really that old I'm 56 with a lot of mobility problems.I can be on my feet for only about 5-10 minutes at a time, due to pain & weakness. but I know that will change as I tone up more & lose wait. Tomorrow is a brand new day. Though it could be a very busy day with going out of town for a Dr.'s appointment depending on the weather. We are under a severe weather warning for quite a bit of snow & freezing rain. I'm kinda hoping the snow really hits us so that I can do more here on SparkPeople & even try out some of these exercises. I know they would do me a world of good. Good night & God Bless

Hi, I'm Debbie, and I have been with Spark for years. Just been on other teams. A good friend asked me to check out this team. She said you use videos for exercise. . I have heart defects, knee replacement, and chronic plantar fasciitis. I ripped the ligaments in my knees with a bad fall and ended up with the knee replaced. The knee is stiff, so I can only do stationery bike for now. I get winded when I exercise because of my heart problems. Had several surgeries for my heart. I do chair exercise for strength training.

Hi there....I've been hunting my way through this wonder program and finally found a group that I think I've been looking for all this time...I'm 78, a former Bostonian, and two years ago I moved to Boynton Beach, FL...why?? no snow! (nah, I have two of my three kidlets living in Florida.

I'm hoping to lose about 100 pounds and have lived a fairly sedentary life recently...not just the weight, I've had my share of illness just as everyone else has and have fought back enough to be able to walk short distances without losing my breath. I'd like to increase the distance and worry about walking in the heat. My biggest exercise at this time is Publix supermarkets.

Hope to hear from you soon and if there's anything I can do, let me know. Thanx in advance. emoticon

Good Morning to everyone.

Yesterday, I put in 30 minutes on the bike and 3 minutes on the rebounder. Pedometer reading for the day was 8587 steps. Mostly I rested up after Monday's marathon laundry activity. This is catch up day on errands.

Here's to an enjoyable and successful day to all of us. Love, Wiser

Hello. I am an 85 year old woman. I lost my son in January of this year and am just now recovering to the point that I realize I need to take care of myself. The two main needs are getting adequate sleep and exercise. My energy level is low and meeting both of those needs should raise my energy, too. I have made some changes to encourage adequate sleep, and the goal of 15 minutes a day may get me started on structured exercise.

I look forward to getting to know everyone. Love, Wiser

Hi, I'm Pat, I'm 61 and will be retiring in 165 days! I've been in retail for 45 years and the physical demands of the job plus being on my feet 8-10 hours every day have taken a toll on my back (one back surgery), my shoulder (rotator cuff surgery), legs (vein problems), feet (4 surgeries and several broken bones and stress fractures) and stomach (ulcers caused by stress of the job). Truthfully though, I feel I am in pretty good shape but do need to lose 25 pounds. My husband is the cook in my house and he does not cook "healthy" so can't wait til October when I can start cooking again. I'm glad I found this group and am looking for great ideas on how to be more fit, eat better, find a way to get in more exercise, etc..........and I don't want to wait til retirement to start!! I joined sparkpeople about 5 years ago and was active for several years but got away from it so now I'm looking forward to being active in it again. And by the way, I got a FITBIT several months ago and it was so worth the investment, just the motivation I needed to get started again. Pat

I am Chris, 64, and newly retired from teaching. Water aerobics and water zumba are a regular part of my life. I have lots of body pain from fibromyalgia. I take tylenal (8 hr.) round the clock daily. Legs have improved since getting PT in a warm therapeutic pool. Shoulders, neck, and upper arms are very painful for about 6 months now. Sharp pains with bumps in the muscle tissues. Myofacial stuff going on? I think so. In the water, once I get going, I can do all the exercises strongly. In therapy they said I was the strongest there. But I can't get rid of the pain. It is very discouraging. Oh- I am the sole caregiver for my husband since his stroke in early 2006.I pay for aides to get him out of bed and into bed . He can't stand and transferring him is very difficult. PT for him is working with us to make transfers easier and probably get more equipment so we don't strain ourselves. It is such a relief not to go to work daily. It was a very difficult place to work with many demands and not much administrative support. Hi to everyone! Chris emoticon

Hi I'm Martha-Ann, I'm sixty three and from Yorkshire England. I've been a Spark member for a while now but ill health took it's toll and I put back on most of the weight I'd lost. I'm still having treatment but feel much better, more like me again. I've re-committed to Spark and am currently losing well though my fitness level leaves a lot to be desired. I hope doing these exercises combined with my daily short walks (they are getting a little longer each week) will help me regain my fitness. Being English I hadn't heard of Anne and only found this team through browsing, I'm looking forward to getting to know you all. emoticon

New to this forum, but I joined SP about three years ago. However, I had surgery two years ago and had complications which resulted in my spending most of the last two years off and on bedrest, and gaining back what I'd lost and then some. I'm finally starting to heal up and I'm doing much better, and I'm coming back to SP for the wisdom and support that I've missed.

I was here before. In past 2 months have been troubled with sciatica. Will try doing exercise led by Anne on the 2 DVDs I have instead of my usual walking and see if that goes better. I hope there are some active Sparkers in this group.

See you around.

Hi, I am just recovering from two weeks of war with some kind of bug and the goal of 15 minutes of exercise a day is a perfect plan for me as I am feeling kinda puny.

Thanks for creating this board. Hugs, Wiser

Hi my name is Sherry. I found out I had a stress fracture in my right foot this week and am wearing a boot. I had just increased my walking to 30 minutes but now that is out of the question for at least six weeks. I was so excited to find these chair excercises and tried them out this evening. I had trouble keeping up with the one. Realize I don't have as much endurance in my arms as I did in my legs. Woo Hoo! Just shows I need balance in my exercising program and if a fracture brought this out so be it.
I am 62 and will soon be 63 so guess I qualify for the Stronger Seniors. God Bless and likewise look forward to getting started.

Hello, My name is Pamela, I live in south central Arkansas, and I have been a member of SP for a little over a month. Among others, I am a member of the Chair Exercise team and have read great things about Anne Burnell and her Stronger Seniors team--so, even tho I am 'only 54' lol, I have severe fibromyalgia, back issues, and other health concerns that equal weight gain, pain, and limited mobility. I am very thankful to have found both of these teams and the great chair workouts. Look forward to getting to know more of you! Pamela emoticon

I'm happy to be a part of this team. The title alone is encouraging and uplifting! I think I'm probably more stronger in mind than in body but I'm working on uniting both of them to be on the same page eventually. I've had major health issues in the last few years include 3 joint replacements, shoulder surgery and now I'm dealing with either a severe case of sciatica or possibly a herniated disc (hope to find out one way or the other soon), so I'm limited right now on activities. This is when my mind continues on, tho, and I encourage myself "virtually" to stay strong and meet the challenges head on. Hopefully I can get back to normal activities sooner than later. I went for 5 years without being able to walk under my own power (severe Osteoarthritis) and believe me when I say I've never taken walking for granted ever again. And now, with me barely able to get around due to this current problem, I remind myself often how important it is to stay strong, stay focused and stay confident. My husband of 42 years is wonderful thru all my ups and downs. I look forward to getting to know members in here and being a positive force to others as they are to me. Blessings to you all.

I know I can...I know I can...I know I can

Hi, I finally found a senior team. I live in southern california and you would think with all the nice weather we have here I wouldn't have a weight problem. When I quit smoking 20 plus years ago the weight started creeping on. At first it wasn't noticeable because I am tall. When I reached a size 24 and was diagnosed with HBP and high colestrol, I finally decided to do something about it. By then though, my body had become riddled with arthritis and moving had become a problem. With a weight-loss challenge in January 2010, I was able to shed nearly 50 pounds but I still have another 50 to lose. A year ago, I injured my foot walking on the treadmill...still bothers me most days...and with arthritis in both knees, walking is a challenge in and of itself.

In January 2011, I joined another challenge based on the Biggest Loser, a show I really love to watch. That was when I discovered many things I felt I could do, I can't...BUT...the good news is I have found out I still can walk, just not as intensely as I used to. I can also run for short bursts. I enjoy working out in the outdoors.

This year my goal is to lose the rest of my weight and finally get off my meds forever. i am hoping the encouragement and support I will get here will be just what I need to reach my goal weight of 175. I have started to blog and now have found this group of seniors so I am encouraged just in that.

My name is Adeline and I am new to this team. I am a PWD a Person With Diabetes, type 2.

I am on a mission to lose the weight and get rid of the belly. Most of my life I have been a yo-yo dieter thus my metabolism is shot. I have an extra challenge when it comes to losing weight. It just does not come off easily,December 2010 was the last month to show a loss of 1/2 #
I have been following Ann's blogs and I need some tough love and motivation to help me.

Thx for the warm welcome, Fay,

Good to see another newbie here. Hello, Cynthia, welcome to the team emoticon There's FAQ on the help button and you can also PM the coach for advice.I haven't yet started the challenges here so I can't help. When you have the answer, please could you come back and tell us. thx

Well, I might have lost 2 pounds and moved on to week 2 but I'm still struggling to get myself sorted on SP. I need to start walking 10 mins every day plus perform a whole host of things that SP have laid out for me. It has taken until now to master this huge website and now I must get ACTIVE. Once I've got that going, I'll be joining this challenge.....hopefully next week.

Be strong! Have a good week. see you in a few days.

Greetings from the Central Coast of California! I'm about to turn 59 in May & have been using a walker for over a year due to strength & balance issues. When I started SP in March I was using the only 20 minute "Chair Workout" I could find on the site, while I was waiting for SS's "Stretch & Strength" DVD to arrive from Amazon.com. I'm alternating these two workouts every other day & then creating my own modified seated version of Leslie Sansone's "1 Mile Walk" on Sundays.

I have not been able to figure out how many calories are getting burned for these workouts, so although I'm recording the fact that I'm using these "chair workouts," the calories are not getting listed. Suggestions?

Blessings along the journey, ya'll...
Cynthia

hi all emoticon

I'm Mia and I want to lose about 50 lbs and become a lot fitter. I'm on Day 5 at SP and Day 2 in the 28 day workout team. There's a lot to learn and do on the workout site so I am not ready to get involved here until maybe next week. I joined SS today because I needed to put it on my SP in order to find it again LOL (I'm a newbie and don't know an easier way emoticon )

looking forward to joining your challenges and having some fun too. bye for now,

After reading some of the other introductions on this topic, I think I will fit in just fine. I am 64-1/2 and had both knees replaced, 1 almost a year ago and then other almost 2 years ago. I have been having trouble getting my quad strength up and had a fall in the doctor's office in December and was unable to get up until two large nurses pulled me up on my feet. Six week after the last knee surgery my quad muscle tore during physical therapy and that slowed me down quite a bit. I have purchased a couple of chair exercise DVDs and a chair yoga DVD but have not even previewed them. (Someone set a fire under me and help me get motivated.) I hope to get some inspiration from this group. I have to report I used my recumbent bike for 15 minutes this morning while my coffee brewed before going to work. (I am proud of that and am planning to make it a daily occurrence.)

Hi Everyone, My name is June, I am 68 years young and I hail from Philadelphia, PA but I have lived in Chesapeake, VA with my daughter and son-in-law in a "mother-in-law" addition that was built when the house was built. I have lived here for about 16 years. I retired from nursing about 6 years ago and unfortunately have steadily gained weight. I have about 70 pounds to lose. A good friend of mine on Spark told me about the Senior Chair Exercises that Anne Burnell has so I order the Core Chair Exercises and the Yoga Chair Exercises. I just love them and I feel so good after I am finished. I had one knee replaced about 1 1/2 yrs ago and I am having the other knee repaced in May 2011. I think I am going to buy the stretch and exercise video with the bands......that sounds great. I have met so many nice friends on this site. I have two beautiful grandchilren, Michelle who is 23 yrs old and Chris who is 17. They are just wonderful.....of course. Lets support one another and do this afterall that is what we are here
for...isn't it. Have a great evening. Keep, tracking, keep sparking and keep doing. emoticon emoticon

Hi~

I'm new here, my name is Donna and I live in NH on the Seacoast. I am happily married and together we have 6 children, 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

I started doing on of Anne's short videos....8.5 minutes and I wasn't able to do it all at first but now I can and I'm going to add another short video...4.5. minutes. I've also bought a couple of her DVD's. I believe I will need some exercise bands.

I started to become disabled when I fell and developed a septic knee that kept me in the hospital for over a month. Then I developed polymyalgia that didn't get diagnosed for over a year. It was excruciating to even rise from a chair, so I didn't. Then I was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder and sunk into a suicidal depression that kept me in bed for over a year. Then I was taking prednisone long term for the polymyalgia and found my muscle strength weakening fast. So, here I am with 138 lbs. to lose and much strength to regain.

I'm glad I found SparkPeople and Anne's videos.

Hi, I'm Sherrey, a 64-yr. old wife, mom, grandma and great-grandma. Like Becca, I've been through multiple surgeries over the last four years and a spinal fusion back in 2002. I have OA and degenerative disc disease. In February I took a fall on my left knee and bruised it behind the kneecap. My PT worked with me and we were almost finished when she "helped" me tear the cartilage in the right knee requiring surgery this summer. You can gather from that that there hasn't been much physical activity in my world this year.

I'm excited to learn whatever I can from this team and get stronger. I want to get back to walking (when the weather clears here in the NW) and bicycling. I'm currently using the stationary bike and that's feeling good but it takes time to build back up. I want to strengthen muscles and treat my joints better.

Thanks for the welcomes to the group! Look forward to getting to know you all.

Merry Christmas everyone! emoticon

Welcome GRITS46, SIMPLY_JAE and BECCA023. I've been out of the loop for awhile: computer became infected and repairman broke the ON button. I think they must have send to China for the part.

I wish to you success as you travel this road with this team. If I missed any other newcomers, the same goes to you.

And a Merry Christmas to everyone. emoticon

Hi I am jae... I am new to this team but not to Sparks. I was just recently told I have OA in my hip. They tell me I will most likely need a hip replacement in the future. SO if ever there was a time to get serious it is now. I need to lose some weight and be the best shape I can be in. I am very glad to meet each of you and look forward to sharing in our journeys together..

Hi my name is Becca. I am a 60 yr old single grandma living in Michigan. I have been thru multiple surgeries over the last four years and need to get back in shape again.
I have been on Sparks for about 6 months now, and also Best Life. But I find I need more motivation to get me back moving again and past all the aches and pains too. I feel like I've been lost so hoping I can get back organized again in activity and healthy eating and lifestyle.
I look forward to meeting each of you.

Hi! My name is Pat. I'm a 60 yr-old grandma from Virginia. I've very overweight and my knees are shot from arthritis. That limits what exercises I can do. I've gone back to the pool I belong to and it's wonderful...makes it possible for me to get some exercise. Then mysister directed me here because of your chair exercises. I've browsed through some of those videos and hope to work some of them in soon.

It'll be nice getting to know you. If you like you can go to my Sparkpage and read my one and only(so far) blog if you'd like to know more about me.

Have a blessed day,

Welcome to the team Teresa, I'm glad you chose to join us.
As Diane said, the DVD's of Annes are really great, I find them fun to do and no pain! Look at her videos on that video clip thread and you can tell by that how they help!

I have 5 grown children, 4 grandsons, 1 great grandson and a fur baby named Snooks, she is a 3 1/2 lb Chihuahua and is our baby!

I'm sorry to hear of you girls having such knee problems, that would make regular exercising difficult. But glad to hear how positive and supportive you are, attitude sure does a lot!

All the best on your journey here and especially on this team!

Hi Teresa: Welcome to the team, glad you found it, I feel so good knowing this is a common sense team looking out for our welfare. And, I can do the exercises without too much pain. I love Anne Burnell, got one of her tapes in the mail Sat and did one video yesterday and it was fun, and I could do it and still breath. I can feel the results today and feel really motivated to continue. I had a complete knee replacement last year and now the other knee is acting up, so I am trying to be p-active so maybe we can avoid the surgery. I am going to physical therapy to strength my legs, and I feel good about the possibility of being able to take care of this myself. Or at least getting into better shape and losing some weight before the surgery is done. Good luck!

I try to get most of mine done early in the morning and then pop in off and on during the day and night. It's such a great site with so much info and many friends here who are encouraging and inspiring!

See you on the chat thread ~ all the best on your journey here!

Gloria

Hello, I am Rose Marie and also new to this team. You were recommended to me by another team member. I hope I can keep up with all of you.

I have been on SparkPeople for a couple of months and am finding it extremely interesting but also time consuming.

I know my time would be better managed if I were exercising something other than my mouse.

I read another team members introduction, I believe her name was Diana, and all I can say it "ditto" and say everyone a lot of time.

I do not have any of the DVD's and things so I may have to get with it using what I can put together here. Chair exercises, hopefully, are the answer to a weak core. (I can't believe it happened to me.)

Thank you for the opportunity to join this group and I hope to make you all proud.

Rose Marie

Hi Diane, welcome to the team! It's really good to see you here!
It takes a while to get your page, teams, everything organized on sparks, glad to see how well you're doing with it and happy you enjoy the DVD's (chair exercises)!

Lol, yes I remember being young and thinking I was never going to be a senior citizen and get out of shape, lol!! And my mom was such a tiny woman, all of her life, but still ... I guess I thought she was old and she wasn't!! She actually passed away at age 60, so young, and I was 22!

You are so right, we have so many great resources at our finger tips, we'd be foolish not to use them. I'm going all out with the DVD's because I'm so out of shape and they work all my parts! My main concern is getting in good shape (fit) and staying mobile.

Good to see you here, will you come on our chat thread? It's the second one from the top on the team page.

Hi:
I am just getting organized on the SP program and joined the Stronger Seniors and chair exercises teams, plus the spark reading team, love them all. I can't believe I enjoy the chair exercises so much. The chair yoga clip was great, just ordered some of the videos. Do any of you remember a time when the words "Senior Citizen" seemed offensive, cuz you were never going to get there, and you were never going to be out of shape anyway, no matter what age? I have it etched on my memory, I felt my Mom must be pretty lazy to get so out of shape. She actually looked darn good, compared to me. We are lucky to have access to so many resources, and I will be lazy if don't take advantage of them. Have a good day,
Diane emoticon emoticon emoticon

Welcome to the team Jo, Phyllis, Molly, Emmabe and Joyce!
I've been away from the team for over and week due to a death of a life-long friend and I'm gradually coming back on sparks again, should be fully here by next week.

I'm glad to see you ladies here, Anne is terrific and she puts her DVD's on her blogs, for those who wish to follow them.

Welcome ladies!!

While browsing, I discovered this new site....Since I am a 79 year old senior, less "strenuous" excercise sounded like a "winner" to me. I see some familiar faces have also joined this group. Looking forward to joining you....

My DH and I will celebrate our 60th wedding anniversary on December 15th of this year. We have 3 grown children (2 girls and one boy)....9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren (and another on the way)

I have been a 'sparky' since February of 2007 and lost 50 pounds. My siatic kicked in on my AGAIN, and my exercising went by the wayside, and, of course, I gained about l7 pounds back. I am working on using my treadmill again, in hopes that it might kick up my metabolism. One thing I KNOW for certain, is exercise is MUST to keep that weight off and more importantly, to be able to lose. I have accomplished the art of eating, but I just sit on the same numbers month after month.

I'm looking forward to this team and its support. Thanks

Joyce .......Saint Louis, Missouri

Determination and perseverance will get me to my goal, which is to live in a healthy body.

Hummm!! Anne - you KNOW I follow your DVDs - and am trying to Spread the news over here - why didn't I know there was a Spark team?? Oh well better later than never!!

Actually our two teams should work well together!!
I left a link to this team on our message board since so many of our members use your DVDs.
See you on the boards.
For those of you who don't know me - I'm co-leader of the Chair Exercise Team here on SP - I have lost a lot of inches with Chair exercise and have just graduated to Curves - but I use the Stretch and Yoga DVDs from Stronger Seniors on a regular basis to help me fully stretch after other exercise!! I am sure that regular use of these 2 DVDs has made it possible for me to work through the muscle pain I experienced at my huge jump in exercise level from Chair Exercise to Curves!!
I love the DVDs that Anne has done, and that she is so generous with her limited time, is so approachable to us and will answer questions so willingly -
We are slowly doing reviews of them on the Chair Exercise Team message board - to help people to choose what is the best buy for them
I also live in Australia - where any form of Chair Exercise is unheard of!! I am trying to spread both Chair Exercise and the Spark!!

Hi everyone. I'm Molly. My grandkids call me MooMu. LOL

I use Anne's DVD's and find them absolutely wonderful! What a fabulous gift she has with those of us that want to exercise but don't want to over-exercise.

Looking forward to getting to know all of you.

Tell then!

I am a 70 yr old retired math teacher, grandma and have been overweight all my life. Right now I am in a skump but will get out of it! A big problem for me now is the heat in Phoenix and I can't get out to walk. I do have a treadmill but for some reason it doesn't get me going. I am starting my journal today and that may help.
