Tomorrow is my weekly weigh in day. Crossing my fingers for a good number!! I have been consistent with my calorie counting and also with my exercise. Doing the 5 km training scheduled to complete a 5km race on April 10th. So far .....so good!!

lost another pound this week. 2.5 in 2 weeks.

resting heart rate down to 54.

the toughest thing for me has been not drinking soda ! I've been great during the week, only having 1 or 2 cokes w/ lunch in the last few weeks but going to the movies and not having a coke is tough :)

Remember that slow weight loss is ideal! 1/2 a pound a week is awesome. Don't be discouraged by low or fluctuating numbers either!!!

173 today. I actually lost a pound since friday. weekends are usually bad for me, especially if i eat out. i always end up reversing the good i did over the week. I turned down a friend's invitation to dinner because i am tired of eating out and gaining the weight back.

Oh my gosh, my weigh in was Saturday and I didnt lose anything but I noticed I gained a half a pound. I was disappointed to see that the scale had not moved, because I could tell that I had lost just by my clothes. But I was reminded that I have incorporated weights into my work out for the last two weeks and maybe its probably muscle. So I am going to be positive and keep going. Wish me luck next week emoticon

Been on a plateau for 2 weeks straight despite exercising 6 days a week (60 minutes each). I had a few days where I went over my calorie intake. Did much better this week.

This weeks results: Weight 128; Waist 26 3/4; Hips 38 1/4; Thighs 22 1/8 and 22 1/4
Since Jan. 1: Weight loss -6 1/2; Waist -2; Hips -2 1/4; Thighs -1 1/2 and - 1 3/8
To go: 8 pounds; Waist 3/4"; Hips - 2 1/4; Thighs -1 5/8 and -1 3/4

I'm telling you - EVERYONE I talk to - whether it's the gym or the grocery store or my kids' schools - had put on weight over the holidays (even a little bit like 4-8 lbs) and everyone is having trouble shaking it! Good thing we can work on it together

I'm 5'3" & weighed 142 this morning. I put on about 6 pounds since Xmas. Went to Disney in Jan & am trying to get back into the swing of things. Mt exercise is decent but my eating has been pretty bad. I've got to get out of this rut!

I am (pleasantly) surprised how many people are in 'our' situation! It seems that from what I read in magazines (forget TV or Movie Stars whose weights hover 110 lbs!) that not many ? people are in this 140s range at our height! I feel much more comforted. I've always felt that I ran on the heavy side, yet I don't look that that bad! And I'm sure you all don't either!!!!
Yes to kicking up the cardio AND adding weights resistance in the form of lifting weights, or taking a weights class - muscle does weigh more than fat and presents 20% smaller than fat on the body. I'm gradually becoming ok with looking a tad more muscular than other women my age (and I guess consequently, 'heavier') That said, I still wish to lose 10 lbs of FAT

I'm 5'4'' and 146 today. I gained 5 lbs during Dec and can't shake it so I am getting back to tracking everything. I would love to be 135 again. So my goal is to tone. I keep reading that you need to kick up intensitiy before menapaus and strength train to avoid the menapause gain. I hope to get some accountability and motivation from everyone here.

I too am 5'4" but haven't been 125 since probably 6th grade! I've been in the healthy 130s from my teens to pre-kids. After my 2 children, stuck I was in the 140s. I'm solidly built so I can "get away with being in the low 140s" but I'm really shooting for 138 to stay way below the 140 mark.
Have you been 125 in recent history? I'm just curious. My 1/2 Marathon time was 2:15 and I too would LOVE to get 'er done in under 2 hrs. I beat this year's time by 3 mins over last year's time so I was psyched with that.
What are you going to change about your eating/drinking/work-out habits to produce results?

You can do it. I am 42 years old and my B-Day is 3/21, and I have 21 pounds to lose I have actually already lost 8 of those pounds. I find tracking all foods and exercising consistently really makes a big difference. It makes you accountable. I will be rooting for you emoticon

I thought is was hard to lose weight at forty something also, but I have to tell you that I started this journey three weeks ago and I am now down a total of eight pounds. I exercise at least five times a week and Im not new to exercise, I have totally changed the way I eat. Its not easy but each week I strive to eat better, and its paying off. Im excited. So I want you encourage you by saying please look at what you eat and how much youre eating just by doing that you can lose weight. Track your calories on the food tracker start out small and be consistent.

THank you for your honesty, Laurenelise. I too have gained weight this week when I was 'supposed' to be being good. It was a tough week for us up here in CT, 2 snow days this past week alone - we've had a total of 8 so far and it's only early Feb. It's a double-whammy - puts a damper on going to the gym and then being stuck inside all day to be surrounded by kids & food and eating...Let's give ourselves credit for MOVING FORWARD!

I love the energy and support here!
I have a request - can everyone include their height also when posting weight - it gives relevance and perspective. I'm thinking I'll include Before & After measurements as I am about to embark on my Journey with P90X - I'll post for you gals! Wish me LUCK - I usually peter out and 'get bored' and yet, still remain 10-12 lbs. or so overweight.
5'4" 149 (Should be 138 as per my frame) In high school was 132-138
Bust = 36" (want 34")
Arm = 12" (want 10")
Waist = 30" (want 27")
Hip = 39" (want 36")
Thigh = 24.5" (want 22")
Calf = 13"

Hello everyone...hope you are all doing well today. I would like to do the Feb. weekly weigh ins too.
Feb. 1 - 127.6 lb.
I am 5'3" and would like to get down to 117. That is my ideal weight goal and I am hoping to reach it by May 1.

well I participated in the "Transitions Lifestyle" program thru my gym back in Nov & lost 6 lbs and was psyched - felt great and then along came the holidays and I quickly found my 'lost' pounds. Anyhow, check out www.dietsinreview.com and type in Transitions Lifestyle. It's a fairly sound diet in that its emphasis is water, high amounts of vegetables and low-glycemic fruits, lean proteins. I wasn't a fan of "go as long as you can eating just vegetables and water and try to forgo protein". Um, if you don't consume protein your body might perceive it as starvation and also waste your efforts with weight-training...also I just ordered P90x...Not for beginners but I've been a fairly consistent exerciser and athlete competing, etc. But i'm pumped to get those results hey boast...I have a few emails and websites I'd love to share...where can I do that Dawn? Thanks!

I'm a huge fan of doing a 1-day detox (you can always talk yourself through 1 day of anything right?) SO, it would be all water, tea (plain - no milk or sugar) and then vegetables and broth and 2 low-glycemic fruits, and water, lemon water, more water, scant lean protein.
You'll be amazed at the one-day results - SWEAR!

Fluctuated up 5 lbs the other day, now today down to 150. Hoping to lose 5 lbs. this month.

Oh, I'm 5'6" and only got 1/2 the floor done, cuz just couldn't do anymore. Finished scrubbing the other half today along with another wall and a dresser that we use as a cupboard...saw it in a home magazine, works. Got to the gym, but also ate a lot of cookies that I made with my girls today, so much for my will power. Didn't hit my protein amount again though. May have to try the protein powder junk I have on the shelf.

Thank you Klireland - it was me who asked b/c height does have something to do with it!
I'm 5'4" and have never been lower than the 130s my whole adult life. Been in the 140s since having children. Want to get to even 138, would love that. This past summer (so, not so long ago I got to 139 and was in 'heaven') I have an athletic build so a lot of tone and muscle so for me, 139 is a size 6.
THank you for the info about the website - I'll look into it. Your H says a truthful thing - funny. Mine is equally supportive but when I ask him, "Does this shirt/skirt/top make me look fat?" He'll say, "It's vision" Not sure if that translated well, he's only 1/2 kidding anyway.

Hoping for -2 per week (but as my H says, "hope is not a method"!)

Interesting that someone asked how tall we are - I often wonder what I look like to other people and found a website called mybodygallery.com, which has pictures of real women of different heights and weights. It seems that body type varies greatly even among people of the same height and weight!

For what it's worth I am 5'5" and I am trying to get to 135 lbs, which I think is pretty reasonable for my body.

Hi Lauren!
What I would LOVE is 134ish, what is possible in the near future is 138 being that I got down to 139 in June and then allowed the 'slippery slope' to happen. Thanks. Right now I'm stuck, but it's been awful with the weather and snow days - which are a one-two punch: No gym and then inside the kitchen/house! Ahhhhh!
