Good evening Team,

I hope everyone has had a fabulous Friday.

GoodFeline, your trip to the library for your son sounds like a huge success. It reminds me of the first time we took our (then) 2-1/2 year of granddaughter to Barnes & Noble. We rolled the stroller into a site where she could see the many rows of books, whereupon she threw open her arms and squealed, "All for me????" Need I tell you she is a Leo sun/moon child! Anyway, getting kids started early with a love of reading is something I hugely approve of. Also, your idea of finding other children for him to play with sounds like a great idea too. You have my sympathies on gaining the one pound, but you are probably right about it just being water gain. At any rate, enjoy your one-on-one time away from work on Monday.

Julie, it sounds as though you have plenty to keep you occupied while your husband is gone. Good luck with getting it all done. Thanks for your thoughtfulness regarding my attitude of angst. I appreciate your concern.

Today has been filled with lots to do. First my son called this morning, which he normally does on Fridays. Then my daughter called and wanted to chat about plans for this coming weekend (family brunch for my birthday and Mothers Day combined). Then I received a return call from a high school friend; I received a birthday card from her yesterday and had called to thank her and had to leave a message, so she called this morning too and we had to catch up as we only talk every couple years or so. By then I was running an hour late to get out of the house to visit Hubby.

Hubby and Fulga surprised me as Hubby paid her to pick up a birthday gift for me, a suncatcher series of colorful birds on a string to put in my office window. It's going to take me awhile to figure out how to get it hung there and in any case will require a person much taller than I am. So my birthday celebrations (it's actually this coming Sunday) will sort of stretch across the weekend.

On that upbeat note I'll close for tonight. Best wishes to everyone for a restful night's sleep and a super day on Saturday. Can you believe we are coming to the month of May already? I'll go ahead and start that thread - see all of you there!

I took Little Man to the library where my friend works at Easter, during a slow period of her day. He LOVED it. He was absolutely astonished to see so many books in one place. He didn't know what to do! He ran straight to the children's department and just sort of wandered around in awe. We live in a SID so we don't have library access, but the big library in the major city nearby just eliminated fines so I'll probably look into getting us library cards there. I know the children's librarian at the main branch from when I worked there (it's just down the street from where I work now!), and they have a few branches that are devoted almost entirely to children's collections and programming. I think he'd love it once they're open to the public and doing programming again and he'd get to see other kids.

I'm going to try to get together with my niece more often. She's not his age, but she is a child, so that might help. She's obsessed with LOL dolls right now and Little Man likes them, too. She doesn't let him play with them (they're her babies) but she lets him play with the brushes and sit near her to watch while she plays with them.

My weight went up by nearly a pound last night - that makes nearly 3lbs this week that I've gained. I have no idea why. I've stayed within calories, kept my water up, and exercised at least an hour every day. It's just making everything seem so pointless. Why bother doing all this when I am just going to gain anyway? If I'm going to be fat I could at least be fat with pie.

I saw an ad for a local coffee place that makes flavored cold brew coffee and cookies. They had free local shipping and a 40% off coupon so I got DH some coffee and cookies, and that will be a belated birthday gift so he doesn't get just soap. It's free local shipping but I'm not sure how long it will take, especially with ordering right before a weekend.

I don't have much else to report. I am taking Monday off from work to spend some one-on-one time with Little Man so I won't be back on here until Tuesday. Have a good weekend!

Good morning!

GoodFeline, the pandemic has certainly complicated a lot of things we used to take for granted. Hopefully, things will improve soon for socialization!

Carol, you know what they say about worrying about things that haven't happened. Trust me, that road leads straight to Crazyville!

The husband left around noon yesterday and will be back this afternoon for several days. I got most of what I wanted to do finished yesterday, and plan to tackle what's left this morning.

Wishing everyone a lovely Friday!

God evening Team,

I hope everyone has had a thoughtful Thursday.

GoodFeline, sorry to hear about the 2 lbs. gain. However, if you can eliminate the water retention problem (no pun intended) perhaps you will see it drop off quickly. One can always hope. It'd good to hear that there are play areas near by and as the pandemic eases everyone will be more able to get outside and move around. I heard last night that the CDC is telling people that if they are fully vaccinated they really don't need to use masks outside any longer. Just don't find yourself caught between the CDC on one hand and your governor or whoever makes your state rules!

Julie, it sounds as thought you will be able to plan for another fun weekend, especially with your D&D group arriving on Sunday. Hopefully you will be able to open the windows and have lots of fresh air in the house too. Thank you for the thoughts on the anxiety issue.

When I saw Hubby on Tuesday he had been walking around the house with his walker. Apparently he is finally getting some strength and balance. So today he called and said he was doing it again this morning. I'm pleased that he is improving physically but there are so many issues I just hope he doesn't decide he is ready to "come home" because this is a situation where he has "good days" like today and then again "bad days" where he can't do anything. That continuing uncertainly may be part of the issue. I suspect Fulga will help him find some sense of understanding. He does seem to be more content there now. We'll just have to see how his heart holds out. Fulga and I have talked too that if he came home and got worse (a likely scenario) that room would be filled and not be available again for him.

Today I cleaned up the kitchen a bit and then attacked the Ancestry project again. Among other things I had a new DNA match come in from Australia, likely a connection through my biological mother as I have seen previous clues to Australian relatives on that side of the family.

It's amazing how quickly the days fly past. It's already time for me to finish my Spark posts and then make my chamomile tea to calm my head for sleep. Best wishes to everyone for a restful night and a fabulous day on Friday.

Carol: That is a thought. Little Man has a clear preference for me, and tends to behave better with me around. He might have more fun at the ECC if he had his mama with him. Unfortunately, it is not open outside my working hours due to pandemic restrictions so he has to go with DH, or grandparents if they chose to take him.

I've seen a few toddlers at the park his age, but they've been with a large group of people so we haven't stopped to say hi. I feel bad for him, just when he's getting old enough to have fun at these kinds of places we're in a pandemic and we can't take full advantage! Even the ECC is on pandemic restrictions, so I've been told it's not as fun as it is during normal times. The daycare is not too far from where we live, though, so once he goes back if he makes friends there he could play with them outside of the daycare, too. And he'll probably end up in school with some of them. So at least there's that.

I've gained 2lbs this week and it's so frustrating. All I can think is water retention from sodium, but I was 2lbs from my first 10lbs lost and I'm angry at myself. I've added cardio in hopes that will take it off.

I called my credit union to retract my dispute and found out I lost the dispute. The company said it was delivered and my credit union took their word over mine. So I guess I know not to bother disputing anything with them.

I am feeling like egg salad for lunch today. I think I'll make Little Man some mac n cheese. I don't know what we'll do for dinner. I have some meatballs and rice, maybe Asian Meatballs? Little Man loves those.

Good morning!

GoodFeline, it is difficult to teach little ones what's good for them. I'm sure you'll find your way!

Carol, could your anxiety be coming from unacknowledged loneliness? It's a big change from having your husband's nearly constant presence to being alone most of the time.

It was very warm yesterday, like summer time. The husband had the day off. We went to the supermarket, gave Pepper a bath in the backyard, did some cooking, and played a game. He goes back to work sometime today to return sometime Friday. I'm planning to scrub the kitchen down and then have a "spa" afternoon.

Wishing everyone a beautiful day!

Good evening Team,

I hope everyone has had a wonderful Wednesday.

GoodFeline, I hope your son gets over whatever bothered him so you can settle down to get your work done. It sounds as though your have found a variety of activities to try with him and hopefully he will settle down into a routine soon. If your son really doesn't like the ECC then I can see not forcing him to stay there. But it would be interesting to know if he would be content if you took him; he may be picking up on your husband's issues and just feeling uncomfortable from that. It's hard to know. Such situations can really give one an appreciation for when they will learn to speak enough to communicate what they are thinking.

Julie, the colors on your dress are gorgeous. Your ability to adapt those patterns and figure out the adjustments that will make them "just right" are still astonishing to me. I hope you had a good day, whatever you decided to do.

Thanks for your thoughts on the possible origins of my ongoing angst. I'm past the guilt of placing Hubby in the home as he seems to really like Fulga, the caretaker. My only thought right now is that yesterday he was having a "good day" and it made me nostalgic for the good days we had and and sad because I know his good day can change again so quickly.

We had another lovely day of sunshine and cool temperatures. I filled the yard waste bucket again, this time taking leaves from the far side of the house. There were some humongous weeds back there, especially dandelions and thistles. I dug out the worst of those but even then the deep tap roots broke off. I will still have to put some weed-killer on the area. I am still struggling with the angst, was nearly in tears for awhile for no reason I could figure. Hubby is fine and so are the other members of my family (I checked) so I just hope it will ease out soon.

On that note I'm going to finish my Spark postings and then make my chamomile tea for bedtime. Best wishes to everyone for a restful night's sleep and a terrific day on Thursday.

Julie: I had no real reaction to the vaccine. All is well! What fabric is that made from? It is impressive!

Carol: He's had some bad dreams lately, so it's possible something scared him. I'm not sure what it could be, though. I hope your anxiety calms down. ASMR seems to be trendy right now, perhaps that could help?

Little Man used to have a little table and chair in my office, but he didn't use them. I also gave him a toy laptop, but he hated it. I tried giving him my old keyboard, too, but he only wants to play on the one I'm using. When my wireless keyboard died and I went back to the old one he was suddenly interested in the old one! I am thinking of moving his mattress out of the office and trying the little table again, though. Give him an old keyboard and mouse to play with on it. If nothing else it'd give him a hard surface to roll his trucks around on.

Someone suggested he may be eating less and feeling uncomfortable because he's swallowing saliva from teething. He's definitely swallowing saliva, he's like a little waterfall he's got so much dripping down his face and down his chest. I'm not even bothering with shirts right now because they just get soaked. He's even drinking less, which is INCREDIBLY unusual. The boy has a permanent cup attached to his mouth. I'm compromising by giving him milk more often, for the calories, fat, and protein. We got some smoothie ingredients at our last grocery trip, too. He didn't like the toddler recipes I used before so I'm just going to try making up some fruit smoothies with frozen fruit and yogurt. He likes drinking from his cups, and he likes smoothies from McDonald's and Panera, so maybe I can get breakfast in his tummy this way.

According to the USPS tracking one of my meds is getting ready to leave New York. The other one still says delivered to Texas, but the company assures me I will receive it in 3 or 4 days. So I guess I will just wait and see.

DH brought in the Sud Stud today, so I'll have to call my credit union and see if they can stop the charge dispute.

DH has finally worn me down. He said not only does he hate the ECC, but Little Man just runs to the doors/gate and wants to leave the entire time they're there. So I caved and said if Little Man doesn't like it there I will stop scheduling them to go, but he's going to have to take him outside to play as a replacement for the activity. He won't get social exposure that way but he'll at least get physical activity and bonding time with dad. He'll be going back to daycare eventually, either full-time if my remote work is denied or part-time if it's approved, so he will get social exposure then. In the meantime we'll just continue working with his speech therapist and visiting family on the weekends.

My mom and stepmom's Mother's Day and birthday gifts have arrived, and my mom's Mother's Day card arrived. I'm still waiting on my stepmoms birthday card. Her birthday is May 8th and Mother's Day is May 9th so I'll be visiting them on the 8th with gifts and cards for both. I've always just done Mother's Day gifts for my mom, since she birthed me. I got them matching hats this year with their nicknames sewn on the front. I offered to find something for my MIL, but DH said no. He'll probably stop by the grocery store for a card and bottle of wine for her on the 9th. Oh, I just realized, my SIL will probably be there. I should at least get her a Mother's Day card.

DH had a migraine yesterday, and I was so tired I didn't feel like cooking, so we ordered pizza. He had a stuffed crust supreme to himself and Little Man and I shared a thin crust cheese (the only kind of pizza he will eat as yet). There was plenty left so we'll have leftovers tonight.

I was just finishing my tea (iced green tea in a water tumbler) and I sucked up part of a cracker. I guess Little Man was trying to provide a little more substance to my tea emoticon

It is 4:00 here, and I usually do a workout in the last hour of my day. It gives me enough energy to get through bedtime!

Good morning!

Carol, the nebulous anxiety you described can result from subconscious feelings of guilt. It can also be the result of daily frustrations piling up. In any case, I know it can be disturbing and hope it has resolved!

It was very warm and sunny yesterday. It got almost uncomfortably hot upstairs, but I got the sewing room tidied and a blog post done. The husband returned home at suppertime, and we had time for a meal and a little conversation. We don't know yet when Himself will be going to work (I'm guessing tomorrow), so I don't know what I'll be up to today (maybe grocery shopping).

Wishing everyone a beautiful day!

Good evening Team,

I hope everyone has had a terrific Tuesday.

GoodFeline, first, I'm glad to hear you got your second vaccination. Every person's reaction is unique, so I suggest you not worry about reactions unless/until they occur. With any luck you will cruise through the potential reaction period. It was thoughtful of your in-laws to get a toy for your son that they know he will like. Perhaps that will help the little guy find an interest in something besides your attention. My experience with children that young is way too far back (even with grandchildren) for me to remember if that clinginess is a normal phase. Is it possible he had a scary experience that he hasn't processed yet? Just a thought. For both your sakes, I hope it passes soon.

Julie, congratulations on getting all those chores completed so you will be ready for D&D this coming weekend. You certainly are entitled to take pride in all you have accomplished. As for the NPR program, it's got Hooked at the end of the title; I don't know if it's part of a series of that name. I try to avoid most processed foods anyway, and I don't buy junk food or desserts or most of those processed meals. Now that I'm only cooking for one I have avoided most temptations to purchase pre-made meals, though occasionally if I see a Healthy Choice Bowl or something similar on sale I might buy one just to get a little variety. Usually I make up a "pot" or a "batch" of something and then graze on it for several days.

Our day was clear and cool. Hubby was relatively clear-headed today and eager to sift through and share an envelope of old photographs I had brought down to him. I stifled my annoyance and listened to his old stories that went with the photos. The caretaker was quite social today too; she and I had a good conversation about his meds and care and such. I was late getting back for my Zoom meeting as an accident on the road home required all the traffic to detour. The topics today were rather esoteric; the meetings can't all be exciting and to my tastes, of course. Since shortly after the meeting I have been "on edge" as my mother would say; antsy, uncomfortable, sensing something amiss but without any evidence. If there was any problem with a family member I'm certain I would get a call, so I'll try to put it behind me.

Fatigue has been settling in since dinner time so I think I'll finish my Spark postings and then get ready for bed. Best wishes to everyone for a restful night's sleep and a wonderful day on Wednesday.

Carol

Good afternoon!

GoodFeline, I hope the vaccine didn't cause you any discomfort and that you're able to find some answers to your child-rearing issues.

Carol, I'm so glad you're meeting some nice people! I think if the pandemic is ever completely over with, folks will be a lot more appreciative of opportunities to interact with those they don't know yet.

If you're talking about the NPR program "Hooked", I have heard it, and have seen a couple of documentaries along the same lines. I've been trying to avoid processed foods for a number of years. Most of what I eat I prepare from fresh produce. I try to only buy single-ingredient items from factories, like flour, sugar, spices, beans, etc. The main exception would be jams, pickles, condiments, and dairy products. I'm a careful label-reader and look for the most natural of those, without corn syrup, chemicals, etc.

It has warmed up considerably here, up into the 70s yesterday and the low 80s today - very pleasant indeed! I got some long-neglected cleaning done, and even got a little exercise. I finished an outfit to wear for the D&D reunion, too. The husband will be back this afternoon and I have his supper ready. I'm trying very hard not to feel smug about all this accomplishment.

Wishing everyone pleasurable work today!

Little Man just wants to be on my lap at all times. He refuses to stay downstairs or in another room at this point, he HAS to be in my office with me, and he spends nearly all day throwing my mouse away and trying to climb on my lap. I have to keep setting him off me and that just makes him cry. If I stop him from throwing my mouse he cries. If I leave his sight he cries. He's throwing my things and stealing anything I use a lot. He's desperate for attention that I just can't give and keep my job. I'm furious that I'm in this position, I shouldn't have to choose between my job and my son. I can't even take time off to give him a few days of mama time because of my attendance issues in the past. I've got so much PTO I had to sell some at the end of the year but I'm too paranoid to use any of it.

My meds were delivered to some random address in Texas, so I've had to reach out to the company yet again to ask what the heck is going on. I also got a letter from US Customs about the package they seized, they will destroy it if I don't testify about the mislabeled contents (the boxes don't say "prescription only"). On the plus size, they opened the meds to test them and they're the real deal. So I'm getting what I pay for.

I got my second vaccine yesterday at 3:00 and so far I just have a sore arm. I was ridiculously thirsty last night but that seems to have settled a bit. No fever or flu-like symptoms, just the sensation of a bruise where I got the injection. Hopefully that's all that I get. I just don't have the time (or patience) right now to be sick.

DHs birthday is Sunday, and I got him some fancy men's soaps. They're from Dr. Squatch and have nice smells (coffee, mossy brook, trees, rum) and are exfoliating. He's got rough skin and (though I'd NEVER tell him) an odor issue so I'm hoping he uses them. It was a bundle that came with a fancy shampoo and conditioner, too. He uses one of those men's 15-in-1 shampoos that you could probably strip paint with so his hair is like a helmet. Maybe this will give him soft hair again. I tried to get him a Sud Stud to put the soap in (a silicone scrubber that saves your soap) but it was never delivered and the company wants me to file a police report and talk to the Postmaster about initiating a trace on the package, so I just disputed the transaction with my credit union.

My FIL revealed to DH that they got Little Man one of those Little Tykes Cozy Coupes for his birthday. Little Man is going to love that, it's his go-to toy at the ECC. It might make walks more fun for him, too. Right now he is making it almost to the corner before he starts running into the street and has to be put in the stroller. He enjoys the walks, we're at about 1.5 miles before I am too hot and thirsty to keep going - but he wants to keep going! I am trying to work my way back up to 3 miles. I might have to get one of those sporty strollers for doing 5Ks once I get back into those.

Lunch today will be a salad for me, and chicken fries for Little Man. I'm not sure what's for dinner. It will be pasta, but I haven't decided if it's just pasta and sauce or some kind of casserole.

Good evening Team,

I hope everyone one has had a marvelous Monday.

GoodFeline, I'm really happy to hear that item on your eyelid is going away; that must be a tremendous relief for you. It sounds as though you have a good handle on your son's behavior with his sleep issues and also his clinginess. Best wishes to you on getting him to become somewhat more independent so he doesn't have so much of an adjustment if/when the new sibling arrives. You must be relieved that your med orders have passed through customs so that the new supplies are on the way.

Julie, your usually hilarious group must have been extra excited on Sunday once it was figured out that you can start meeting in person again. Perhaps that will help with some of your lowered mood issues. Your new sewing project sounds interesting; I'll be happy to see some of the results. I did take the time to watch the PBS program you recommended a couple days ago. It detailed some of the general information I had heard earlier. My astrology group also sent me a link to an NR program on the food industry and the American addiction to junk food. I have not had time to listen to it yet. If you think you might be interested please let me know and I will post the link (ditto for GoodFeline or anyone else reading in here).

I had a quiet day again. When I took the trash buckets out to the curb I encountered a couple walking their dog and, of course, had to stop and pet the dog. As we talked it turned out that the man knew my husband from previous AA meetings and then that the lady's daughter had studied astrology for 2 years and might like to talk. So between the cousins on Saturday and the neighbors today, perhaps the Universe is starting to provide me a bit more on-site human company. We'll see what happens.

I will cut this short tonight as I have to be up early to run down to see Hubby and then get back for a Zoom meeting with my Salon astrology ladies right after lunch. Best wishes to everyone for a restful night's sleep tonight and a terrific day on Tuesday.

I stopped using the products my dermatologist gave me and quit the antibiotics, and lo and behold, the thing on my eye is going away. I've decided to make an appointment with a different clinic - one that will focus more on my care and less on selling their spa products. Their online booking is down so once Little Man wakes up I will call and schedule an appointment.

Little Man is teething again, so we're repeating the 3am wake-ups. It's 9:45 and he's still sleeping because he was up for hours. I've got some apple juice and cheerios waiting for him in my office so he doesn't have to wait on me to get a breakfast ready. Last week he suddenly stopped sleeping as much. He's sleeping about 11 hours, which I found online is still normal for a two year old, but he was sleeping 13-15 hours so the sudden, abrupt change concerns me. He hasn't napped since January or February so he gets all his sleep at night. I emailed his pediatricians office and a nurse responded telling me that 11-12 hours is a good amount of sleep so I shouldn't be concerned, but to try to get him to take a nap. He will not nap. He cries and screams if I try to keep him on the bed. He's perfectly content to snuggle on the couch quietly, and has fallen asleep a few times that way, but I have to work. He's also gotten extremely clingy (to me), is experiencing separation anxiety (regarding me), and is eating less (unless I feed him). He's obviously desperate for connection because I'm home all day with him but I'm not "here". DH comes home around 2:30 but he's not very involved with Little Man. He doesn't feed him, rarely changes him, and doesn't really play with him. I've been thinking lately that maybe his being in daycare until I can BE home is the best thing, even if it is expensive. But DH says he can't change his work schedule. There isn't a daycare that opens that early (besides, we love his daycare) and I refuse to be at work at 5:30am when I don't work until 8:30am, so we're stuck hoping my boss approves my part-time remote position.

Both my med orders passed customs! One of them did this morning and has moved onto the USPS in New York, while the other has made it to Texas. I'm hoping I don't need them, though. I'm supposed to ovulate this weekend, which is DHs birthday. Birthday luck!

I'm getting my second vaccine this afternoon. Hopefully I don't react too strongly to it, I don't have time to be sick.

Good morning!

Carol, I totally understand what you mean about conventional people! I hope you'll soon find some more interesting folk for conversation.

We had a pleasant day yesterday with a hilarious online D&D adventure. Our core group has had their vaccines and we are going to convene at our house next Sunday for the first time in over a year! I'll be digging up some special snack recipes for the occasion.

The husband will be going back on the road today for a day or two. I want to finish up that little project I started Friday and begin a new one. I got some interesting ideas for combining features of historic and modern garments while researching the costumes of eastern Europe. The descriptor that came to mind for this new aesthetic is "croneworthy". We'll see where it goes.

Wishing everyone a day of fresh ideas!

Good evening Team,

I hope everyone has had a soothing Sunday.

Julie, after some of your husband's sudden schedule shifts I am willing to be you appreciated having a couple more settled days with him. Hopefully your D&D group got together so you could pursue that activity as a couple for a change. I bet your enchiladas are spectacular and hope you were able to enjoy them as an easy meal (or two).

I had a quiet day again. I stayed in pajamas all morning, doing paperwork and computer work and just being lazy. After lunch I grabbed some decent clothes and then went over to Walmart for a few things, some for Hubby, some for me. At one point I was looking at razor blades for hubby and ended up in an absolutely scintillating conversation with a retired carpenter about the vagaries and expenses of razor blades: you can tell I'm hard up for great conversation! The cousins yesterday were lovely people and I appreciated the visit, but my ultimate description of them was "conventional." I'm not complaining - just noting that I am still looking for some more folks who think outside the "normal" box. I left my conventional life in Cleveland when I moved out to Colorado in 1967!

At any rate, I did pick up a newspaper with the weekend puzzles and so have put in some time working on those, as well as working on my end of trying to locate the ancestral connection to the distant cousins from yesterday.

So on that cheerful note I'll get after the rest of my Spark postings and then make my chamomile tea for bedtime. Best wishes to everyone for a restful night's sleep and a marvelous day on Monday.

Good morning!

Carol, it's remarkable that you found a relative so nearby! I'm glad you had a good visit and hope it blossoms into something wonderful for your family.

The husband and I had an indoor day yesterday, as expected. We did all the usual things and it was quite pleasant. As far as I know, we'll be playing D&D online this afternoon. I'm going to fix a big brunch and prepare some enchiladas so we can just pop them in the oven when we get hungry later on. It's going to be cold and rainy again today, and is predicted to become warm and sunny as soon as Himself goes to work.

Wishing everyone a perfectly lovely day!

Good evening Team,

I hope everyone has had a super Saturday.

Julie, I'm glad to hear you had such a productive day and that your husband arrived home safely. You will probably both enjoy him having that day so you can both catch up with your joint chores and with each other as well. Thanks for the thoughts on the yard. It was good to see it greening up as the natural rain started to bring it to life. The next milestone will be to put the houseplants out on the back porch as the weather warms up.

Today my daughter and I went to visit with the 4th cousin that lives up the road from here. They had a lovely patio looking out across the Columbia River and eagles flying in and out of a nearby tree, apparently trying to establish a nest or something. Their porch was covered so we were not affected by the (predicted) rain. We had an enjoyable visit with the gentleman relative and his wife. My grandson was not able to join us, and their son didn't arrive until after my daughter had to leave. The similarity to my grandson was not so pronounced as in the photos but I think part of the reason was that his hair arrangement, which was sort of fuzzy, was a lot different from my grandson whose hair is combed more closely along his head. We discussed the relationship issues, exchanged some information, and we will try to get back together again in a few weeks.

So now I'm off to finish my Spark posts and make my chamomile tea. Best wishes to everyone for a restful night's sleep and a spectacular day on Sunday.

Good morning!

Carol, I hope you enjoyed all the yard work - I know it feels good to have it done! Best wishes for your Ancestry meeting today!

I worked on a new sewing project yesterday, getting more finished than expected. The husband arrived home safely early in the evening and we had a little time to visit before his sleep time. He brought me a set of bluetooth ear buds so I can better listen to audiobooks while I'm sewing. It feels weird to have the little things in my ears, but they work marvelously. Himself has today off and it's rainy and cold out, so we'll probably enjoy indoor activities again. We've got a rather long list of things we want to do next time he's home and the weather's nice at the same time!

Wishing everyone a clear path to their dreams!

Good evening Team,

I hope everyone has had a fabulous Friday.

Julie, you are certainly right about the possibility of more lockdowns. All of a sudden Oregon went from one of the leaders in vaccinations to the leader in new hospitalizations and deaths. The governor is reinstating a bunch of restrictions; I will have to wait to hear from Fulga (the caretaker) as to how this will affect my visits to see my husband. It's always something.

I'm glad you are having sunshine, even if it is cold outside. Hopefully the roads will be clear if your husband has to stay out on the road for awhile. Thanks for sending along the connection to the PBS special. I have been busy trying to get ready for this Ancestry gathering tomorrow but hope to get back to PBS after that is over. I am already familiar with the concept (from the title) but I do want to see the details.

We had another sunny day but it was much cooler - highs in the 60s. I got both front and back yards mowed and some weeds pulled out of the front flower beds. I went down to Freddy's to shop and hope I planned purchases so I can wait the 10 days until the next Senior Tuesday for shopping again. Tonight I talked to my Hubby for awhile on our house phone. In the midst of that my cell phone rang and identified the caller as my granddaughter who almost never calls. So I told Hubby to hang on and answered the cell, alternating comments between the two calls, one phone on each ear. Oh, the confusions of the technology of the current century. Seems she had a cake baking question, which was quickly answered and off she went.

Meanwhile, the governor has raised the severity level of the Covid warnings for most of the counties in the state, including the one where the Adult Foster Home is. I will have to wait to hear from Fulga to find out if there will be new restrictions on my visits down there.

Well, that's more than enough chatter. I need to get back to preparing for the Ancestry gathering with the distant cousin tomorrow. Best wishes to everyone for a restful night's sleep and a super day on Saturday.

Good morning!

Carol, I'm glad you had good weather and a nice visit with your husband!

We may all be looking at another lockdown if people won't get off their stubborn behinds and get vaccinated! As of yesterday, only 26.7% of Americans had been fully vaccinated. Sheesh! Maybe more of them would get it if it cost money.

It's cold again today, but it's supposed to be sunny. It looks like spring outside with all the buds and blooming going on. This is just that "dogwood winter" cold snap we always get in April. The husband may be coming home today, or they may send him right back out, we don't know yet. I roasted a chicken and vegetables yesterday, so there are plenty of leftovers for throwing together quick meals.

There's a really interesting one-hour documentary on PBS this week about health care in the US, the most expensive and least effective of all "developed" countries. You should be able to see it on their website if it's not on your local broadcast:
www.pbs.org/video/critical-c
are-americ
a-vs-the-world-f0cwgk/

And if that doesn't work, it's on You Tube. It's 57 minutes well spent.

Wishing everyone a day of discovery!

Good evening Team,

I hope everyone has had a terrific Thursday.

GoodFeline, I bet your little guy looks cute in those clothes. You are fortunate to have Amazon available, both for selection and pricing - there were no such options when my kids were little more than 40 years ago. (Ouch! Did I say 40 YEARS? I'm still not ready to be that old. Sorry.) At any rate, hopefully they will arrive soon. Thanks for the details on the yoga program. And speaking of "ouch," I'm sorry to hear about the chalazion on your eyelid. I hope it heals soon. Those little flags in your yard are left by the folks who identify where all the buried lines and pipes are so that the fence people will not accidentally break or cut into those lines, so yes, it does sound as though your fence people will be starting work in a couple days. Three cheers for you! As for the budget, I join Julie in wishing you good luck getting it all straightened out.

Julie, sorry to hear you have another cold and cloudy day. I hope springtime comes to your area soon. At least you have the flexibility to enjoy some of those pajama days. It does sound as though you and your husband were able to enjoy some time together though. I hope he is being sent away from those big-snow areas. I took a look at your post about the Croatian shirt. Wow - what a lot of detail! It really is beautiful and I would think the additions and changes you added to increase the comfort should also add some value to the piece.

We had another beautiful, sunny day, highs just in the low 70s. It made my drive to see Hubby quite easy and pleasant. He was in a good mood and totally coherent so we had a good visit. Fulga (caretaker) came in to chat with us for a bit - not sure why, but she may have been keeping an eye on him. She said that the county Covid numbers seem to be going up (the whole state, really) and if they continue the governor will be locking everything down again. Fulga said if that happens she would apply for an exception for me to come once a week as a "compassionate" move due to Hubby's age and significant heart issues. We will just have to wait to see what happens. I stopped at Costco for a couple things, planning to have one of their famous hot dogs for an early supper. But they are doing a lot of remodeling in the store, so the only food available was the hot dogs/soft drink special but you could only pay for it with a credit card. I decided to skip it and drove home for dinner.

So with that happy thought I'll continue to work towards getting off Spark early tonight and hopping into bed earlier too. Best wishes to everyone for a restful night's sleep and a fabulous Friday.

Good afternoon!

GoodFeline, I wish you all the best in trying to get your finances straightened out. Glad to see the fence seems to be on the way!

Carol, nothing wrong with a rest day once in a while! I call them pajama days now, but there was a time when I knew them for mental health days. I hope all your visits are enjoyable and your travels safe today.

Not much going on here. The husband was gone almost all day yesterday, but we had a pleasant evening cooking, eating, and watching a little TV. He left early this morning and it's been another cold and cloudy day. I finished researching the traditional costumes of East Prussia (the part where my ancestors lived was granted to Poland after WWII) and decided not to try sewing one until I can find just the right fabrics and trims.

Wishing everyone a lovely day!

p.s. finished the blog post on the Croatian shirt, if anyone is interested in the details:

Carol: I buy his clothes on Amazon. He's gotten a few more expensive things, but I mostly buy the inexpensive packs of clothes - 3pk shirts with cute prints, 4pk pants in neutral colors. That kind of thing.

That particular video was "Yoga to release pelvic tension after fertility treatments, miscarriage, infertility" by Bettina Rae. I'm thinking about doing it again today, I'm feeling very aware of my hips and pelvis today and noticing their tightness.

I have a chalazion on my eyelid that has been there for months as just a tiny dot. I started some antibiotics a few days ago and now it's gotten big and red. I'm not sure why that would happen, Google says it happens when an infection is present, but wouldn't antibiotics kill an infection not cause one? My dermatologist isn't easy to see, either - I have to block three hours out of my day, or pay $165 up front for a telehealth visit.

I found out last night that DHs July estimate for our loan pay off was based on putting all our refund and stimulus money towards it, which didn't happen (refund went to medical bills and stimulus to the new fence). When I checked it last night I saw he's only making minimum payments, the loan is nowhere near paid off. I'm so frustrated.

Speaking of fences, flags appeared on our lawn yesterday! I think that means our fence guys are starting the process!

Lunch today will be salad for me, probably a cheese sandwich for Little Man. Dinner, if work doesn't interfere, is baked macaroni and cheese.

Good evening Team,

I hope everyone has had a wonderful Wednesday.

GoodFeline, I hope you and your husband can get your schedules worked out so your son can get to that ECC. It sounds as though it would be really helpful for the little guy. At least the current substitution gets him some exercise and time with his Daddy. Perhaps you can pick up a couple pair of inexpensive pants for him; since he is growing so fast there's no point in paying a lot of money of something he will grow out of quickly. Meanwhile, congrats on getting in the new workout. It will be interesting to see what the longer term results turn out to be.

Julie, it sounds as though you and your husband had a good day together on Tuesday and you had plenty of time to yourself today as well. The study of traditional costuming in East Prussia sounds exotic and interesting. With your creative mind and skills I have a hunch you will end up making unique new outfits for the store to sell - and some for yourself as well. Halloween is just around the corner!

I had one of those "long rests between chores" days with little motivation for great accomplishment. Mostly I am trying to get myself organized for Saturday afternoon when daughter and I (and maybe grandson) will be meeting with the Ancestry connection I met last week who just lives a couple miles from here and has a son who is nearly a twin to my grandson. But first there will be a long drive tomorrow to see Hubby, followed by a stop at Costco on the way home.

So now I'm off to finish my posts and then head for bed. Best wishes to everyone for a restful night's sleep and a terrific day on Thursday.

Carol: He's working just fine, he's only incapacitated at home. The vaccine is tricky like that emoticon

DH sent me an email this morning saying how much he hates the ECC and how Little Man only wants to play outside so the moms give him judging looks, and it's so cold today they'd give him extra judging looks, and he really wants lunch today. I usually insist he takes him, but to be honest, he'd need pants and I'm embarassed to send him with pants that don't fit. So I told him I'd have lunch waiting for him if he'd just take him into the backyard to burn some energy.

I did a new yoga video today that focused on the hips and pelvis, and WOW, I had no idea how tight my hips are. I struggled doing many of the positions and I could feel my hips and low back popping. I am definitely going to be doing that video again - my hips need it!

Lunch today will be Burger King. Since DH doesn't usually have lunch at home (I don't know if he has it at all) we don't have anything here for him, it's just things for me and Little Man. I'll have an Impossible Whopper and drink water, Little Man will have chicken fries. Dinner will be chicken kiev and veggies.

Good morning!

GoodFeline, I hope you'll have a turn of good luck soon!

Carol, some days seem to be destined for rest rather than work!

It was nice enough to have the windows open most of the day yesterday. The husband got home on time and we had a late lunch before grocery shopping. He got my car fixed and there was time for some gaming before dark. Today it's cold and cloudy again. Hubster got called for some local work and will be back this afternoon, so I'll be getting my chores out of the way and doing some research into traditional costuming of East Prussia.

Wishing everyone a well-planned day!

Good evening Team,

I hope everyone has had a terrific Tuesday.

GoodFeline, I'm sorry to hear your husband is having such a reaction to the 2nd Covid shot. Is he still able to work? I do know some people have more reactions than others but most of the folks I know of don't have so much trouble. For your sake in particular, I hope he gets over it soon. As for your son outgrowing his clothes - don't look now but that does seem to happen in stages. Personally, I think it's one of the reasons not to buy expensive clothes for small children; they will always outgrow them before they wear them out. But I'm sorry to hear about the snow lingering. We have had a sudden spate of unseasonably warm weather recently - 82 degrees yesterday, a more comfortable 78 today. It is supposed to drop back to highs of 60s next week, which will be fine by me for awhile.

Julie, congratulations on getting that shirt done. That really is beautiful. Hope you also got your chores done before your husband arrived home. I hope the two of you will have time for some fun activities before he has to go back out on the road again.

Today I just puttered around the house, cleaning up piles of papers, running a couple loads of laundry, still trying to get motivated to do some of the straightening and sorting and disposing of lots of "just stuff" that is here in the house. I saw an item on a Spark blog today to the effect that "getting older is when it takes longer for you to rest than is does to do the tasks." That was me today.

Now it is time to finish my posts and make my chamomile tea. Best wishes to everyone for a restful night's sleep and a wonderful day on Wednesday.

Carol: I had asked about working from home in my first year or two, but was told it just wasn't done. I was hoping after seeing it works just fine for this past year thoughts would change but I agree, she's making an effort because she knows I want it, but I don't think she really wants it.

Julie: I like the shirt!

Another unlucky month, no New Year baby for me. And to boot, my meds got lost by USPS so they had to reship my other order as well! The first order that was reshipped has hit the US, so let's hope it doesn't get stuck in customs like the first shipment. Neither shipment will arrive in time, I needed them yesterday.

Little Man has outgrown his pants! It was cold and snowy yesterday so he couldn't wear shorts but his pants may as well have been capris. I only bought them MAYBE three months ago! He's a little weed.

We didn't get to clean the kitchen this weekend. DH claims his vaccine made him too sick to move - he made me wait on him all weekend. I've been trying to do a little cleaning of the den every morning to keep it less of a wreck, but between the toddler strewing toys about and DH leaving his dishes and trash on the floor it's a neverending battle.

DH says his lunch is flexible so he could take his break whenever I needed to be at the office. I talked to Little Man's daycare, and she said she'd be willing to let him do a late drop-off and come just in the afternoons (for the same cost as all day care since he's still coming daily). It'd be easier to calculate the cost/benefits if we knew how long he'd be in daycare, but the debt reconciliation program kind of throws a wrench in it. I have to work until a certain amount of our debt is gone and we won't know how much we have to pay until the program is done, and we don't know how long that will take.

I have no idea what dinner is tonight. DH doesn't want anything so it's just me and Little Man, but he's so picky anymore. I was going to do pasta but I don't really want to make pasta for just the two of us. I might order pasta emoticon At least then I can get the portion sizes right for two!

Good morning!

Carol, it does indeed sound as if you had a satisfying day yesterday! I hope today goes just as well if not better.

I got my chores done and finished the Croatian shirt yesterday (photo below, blog post tomorrow). For my next project, I'm thinking of making a dirndl outfit in the style of my maternal ancestors. In any case, I have a few odds and ends to take care of around here before the husband returns this afternoon. The weather has turned sunny and is supposed to warm up. Perhaps we'll be able to take advantage of that.

Wishing everyone a day of determination!

Good evening Team,

I hope everyone had a marvelous Monday.

Julie, it sounds as though you had a productive day, Congratulations on getting all that work done on the fancy shirt. Still, it sounds as though you are thriving on the challenge. You will certainly have some wonderful fresh herbs when those seeds start growing. You'll probably be ready to relax from chores and start enjoying some relaxing time with your husband and Pepper.

I finally decided to bite the bullet and get my hair cut. It took longer than I expected as I had to register on computer and then wait for a text telling me I was next on the list, but to show up and then expect to wait about 10-15 minutes. (Everybody doing this lives nearby to the shop.) Once there I still had to wait another 15 minutes. But it was one of the better cuts and I was happy to have it. A shopping trip to Walmart right across the street netted me a couple bottles of vitamins and a reasonably priced Mothers Day Card for my daughter (Mothers Day is a couple weeks off.) After a quick shower I headed down to Hubby's for a good visit, then enjoyed a long phone visit with daughter. All in all it was a very satisfying day.

Now it's time to finish my other Spark postings and make my chamomile tea for bedtime. Best wishes to everyone for a restful night's sleep and a terrific day on Tuesday.

Good afternoon!

Carol, I hope you're still enjoying warm and sunny weather! I'm glad your husband is settling in to the foster home; hopefully he doesn't get carried away filling his room with stuff.

I got quite a lot done on the shirt yesterday and had enough leftovers from Saturday so I didn't need to do any cooking. It was cloudy and chilly, but I cleaned up the big planters on the back stoop and planted some of the herb seeds I gathered from last year's plants. The husband should be returning tomorrow. He says he's going to try to get his honey-do list out of the way and spend Wednesday with me and Pepper.

Wishing everyone happy surprises today!

Good evening Team,

I hope everyone has had a spectacular Sunday.

Julie, it's good to hear that you have come through the aftermath of your second Covid shot without too many discomforts. It's too bad your D&D was cancelled but perhaps you can make some extra use of the time with that interesting shirt you are working on. I did look at the link you sent about the "sounds" of the spider webs - most interesting! I recently read that other scientists are discovering that the Universe has certain musical tones and patterns. For my money, some people just have too much time on their hands!

Our temperatures were in the mid-80s today with bright sunshine. I worked in the yard for another 2-1/2 hours, clearing weeds out of the flower garden area and finally planting the primrose plants. The local birds didn't squawk at me too much and the flock of Canadian geese looked really magnificent as they headed north. I was wearing a short-sleeved shirt and for the first time in a long time my arms are now turning a golden brown from the sun. I also suspect my joints and muscles will have some strong "words" for me tomorrow.

It has been interesting to watch as Hubby has adapted to the Adult Foster Home. He keeps wanting me to bring more things to him. I suspect his caretaker is going to start getting after him for filling up his room. I think he is just trying to "make it his own" so to speak, but it is a very small room, Some wives might have started a major cleaning out of his stuff when he first moved, but I want the house to still be "partly his" even though I do not anticipate he will ever be able to move back here. So it seems as though my delay may prove to serve some good purposes, at least for awhile.

For now I will move on to finish my Spark postings and then make my chamomile tea. As you can see, it's going to be a late night for me tonight and I will need some good rest for that long drive tomorrow. Best wishes to everyone for a restful night's sleep and a marvelous day on Monday.

Good morning!

Carol, how nice to catch up with some of your astrologer friends! Perhaps they'll be getting together again before too long. I'm a little envious of your warm weather; I hope it stays nice for your gardening today!

The shot I got Friday was the 2nd one. After the morning symptoms, I felt better, but had more aches in the afternoon. After a long, uninterrupted night's sleep, I'm back to usual today. There's no D&D this afternoon, so I'll probably spend the afternoon sewing.

Came across this really interesting item this morning: scientists translated the structure of a spider web into music:

Good evening Team,

I hope everyone has had a super Saturday.

GoodFeline, I hope you are having a fun weekend with your family.

Julie, that's an amazing shirt you are working on. I am in awe of your skills. Meanwhile, it's good to hear that your experience getting your first covid vaccination went so well. It bodes well for the follow-up shot that will come in a few weeks. I'm sure you'll have your house all spotless and that shirt finished before your husband comes home. Will you have D&D tomorrow? That would give you some fun and help you pass the time too.

I ran to the Post Office this morning and then picked up a newspaper at Safeway for the puzzles. I was home the rest of the day - including a lovely, lengthy phone calls with one of the ladies from the Oregon Astrological Association (OAA). The group has pretty much dissolved with the pandemic so it was extra special to catch up with the news from what is left of the group. Temperatures were actually in the 80s today, setting records all over the area. I cleaned up the yard a bit and then stayed indoors. I'll try to get those primrose plants into the ground tomorrow.

Now on to make my chamomile tea and get ready for bed. Best wishes to everyone for a refreshing night's sleep and a spectacular day on Sunday.

Good morning!

GoodFeline, I am making a traditional Croatian shirt (pattern illustration below). It has a lot of tucks and pleats which require precision sewing. I'm enjoying taking my time and trying to get everything done correctly.

Carol, good for you on getting to bed a little earlier! My own experience says that Ben Franklin was right about that. Anyway, I'm sure it won't be long until you find a rhythm for your day that works.

Yesterday, the van was one minute early getting to my house, and I only had to wait 3 or 4 minutes for them to pick me up. The vans were clean and relatively comfortable, and the drivers were pleasant and polite. There was no waiting at the center where I got my shot, either, even though I got there when most of the nurses were at lunch. So I'd say all went very well indeed.

This morning, my arm was sore where I got the shot (Pfizer) and my joints were somewhat achier than usual. I was also feeling cold and sleepy. So I took some ibuprofen and had a long nap after getting Pepper taken care of. Now I"m feeling pretty much like always.

Nothing exciting going on around here today, just the usual housekeeping, sewing, and cooking.

Wishing everyone a day of sharp focus!

Good evening Team,

I hope everyone has had a fabulous Friday.

GoodFeline, congratulations on getting your toddler to sleep through the night. Between kids and cats there are always new challenges to solve. Getting in that daily exercise is a real bonus and I admire your dedication. With all you are able to accomplish I can see why you don't want to go back to work in the office. Your description of your current (and previous) conversations with your boss on the subject sound as though she is diplomatically trying to tell you that they really want you back in the office. Some employers are just traditional about that process. Still, it seems part of their motivation is to re-create the sense of connection (I hate the word team) among the employees, that sense of a shared effort to accomplish the company's goals, whatever they might be. It will be interesting to see how this situation plays out over time. Congratulations to your husband for getting his second covid shot. The horror stories of second-shot reactions get more "press" than the non-reactions. The description of sore arm and fatigue sound about right but "flu-like reactions" can be variable. I hope he (and later you) get through it with minimal problems. Also thanks for the thoughts on the sources of no-sugar jelly. The Fred Meyer (Freddy's) when I shop is the Kroger outlet here. The local Walmart is pretty small and only has about 5 aisles of groceries. The actual Walmart grocery is - like everything else - about 30 miles from here. But I have to go to the local store this weekend so I'll look there. I appreciate the suggestion.

Julie, I hope your ride for the vaccination was timely and that the process itself went well. It sounds as though you have been getting a lot of sewing done lately. It sounds as though you are "holding down the fort" just fine these days. I know being alone can get old too and hope that your husband will then be home for a few days to compensate for the lengthy separation. As for the fruit spread, that actually is one I was looking for - I just forgot to mention it. And it is one of the things I found at the larger store, though their shelves were poorly stocked; I did pick up a jar of the strawberry.

I had the best intentions for tidying up the kitchen and working some in the garden today, but my get up and go had already got up and went. I did manage to finish a task of arranging for some prescription refills for the Caretaker for Hubby and then had a late brunch. Next came a trip to Freddy's for some belated grocery shopping. Between watching store sales and using some coupons that had come in the mail I saved $8.00 (12%, according to the paper receipt). Most of the items were not Kroger brand, so missing the monthly Senior Tuesday didn't really hurt my budget much.

So now it's on to my remaining Spark postings and then off to bed. I've been working on getting to bed earlier and have succeeded in at least making it by midnight instead of the wee hours of the morning for a few days now. Best wishes to everyone for a restful night's sleep and a super day on Saturday.

Carol: Little Man has slept through the night the last two nights - I discovered Chester was sleeping on his toddler bed so I closed that door and he's back to sleeping with us. It's 10:00 and I'm feeling pretty good today, other than shivering with cold (again - it's 70! How am I cold!). So hopefully now that I've discovered why he wasn't sleeping with us anymore (comfy blankets on the baby free bed) we'll both get better sleep. Although my new daily exercise probably has something to do with it, too. It may just be yoga but I am working muscles that haven't been worked in over a year. They're sore at the end of the day and I'm definitely ready for bed when it's Little Man's bedtime.

We get sugar free jellies at Walmart and Baker's (which is called Kroger in other states). I like apricot, DH likes apple, and Little Man seems alternatingly partial to grape and strawberry. I've bought fig online before, and a restaurant nearby sells a boysenberry jam that is great (though I doubt sugar free).

Julie: Good job getting on the bike! I like that one, too, when I'm at the office. It's so nice to be able to read while I workout! I've decided to forego the cardio for now. I'm steadily losing weight with just the yoga for now, and I am TIRED by bedtime. So I'm just going to keep at it for the time being and when I need a boost I'll add in the cardio.

What's your current sewing project?

I had a call with my boss yesterday about my work from home request. She said the only thing holding her back from granting it right now is that my job duties include routing the mail and she doesn't plan on changing that. I told her with DH's current schedule I could come in daily from 3-5, but she's concerned that's not enough time for some of the more extensive materials. She wants me to brainstorm a solution so we can maybe do a hybrid schedule where I work from home in the mornings and am at the office in the afternoons. I sent a text to Little Man's daycare asking how part-time care works and if he could come in just the afternoons, but I'm still waiting to hear back.

DH got his second vaccination today! My friends who got the Moderna vaccine say to expect a sore arm, sleepiness, and possibly flu like symptoms for a day or two. I get my second Pfizer vaccination in just over a week.

DH is home for the day since he got his vaccination, so I'm not sure what we're doing for lunch. I had planned on a salad for me and roast beef with cheese and crackers for Little Man, but since DH is home he might want me to actually make something or to order out. I didn't have time for tater tot casserole last night so that's my plan for dinner tonight.

Good morning!

GoodFeline, you inspired me to put some time in on the exercise bike yesterday; thanks!

Carol, that is amazing about the Ancestry connection! I'm glad you had some time with your husband and I hope it was fulfilling. BTW, next time you're in the supermarket jelly department, look for "fruit spread". Our store has quite a few varieties in both name brands and store brands, none of which contain sugar or corn syrup.

I did the usual stuff yesterday. My new sewing project is coming along slowly. Today I have my chores done early and have plenty of time to exercise and shower before my ride gets here. I'll be happy to have this over with. Meanwhile, the husband received another run to finish before he comes home, and now his earliest ETA is Tuesday.

Wishing everyone a day of discretion!

Good evening Team,

I hope everyone has had a thoroughly enjoyable Thursday.

GoodFeline, I chuckled in sympathy over your problems with temperature adjustment and comfort. It sounds a lot as though your hormones, which you are trying to adjust, are getting some revenge on you. Hang in there - this too shall pass. You also have my sympathies about being ready for a nap. We both know that - hormones or not - your son will have a major say in how much extra sleep you will get. I'm trying to be light but in reality I know that can be a difficult situation. I hope you are able to get some extra rest this weekend - perhaps your husband can handle your son for awhile.

Julie, I seem to recall your comments about having your husband take you shopping several times but I did not connect the thought to your car not being driven very much. You are fortunate that the current situation is one of simple inconvenience and not serious deprivation. It's really a service from the city to arrange for rides for people to get the covid shots. I hope your body reacts as well as you husband's has - and mine too. Thank you for your kind words about my getting to the outdoor yard work. I'm just grateful I can get outdoors and get this old body moving again. At least I can work off some of my cabin fever and accumulated frustration with all the twists and turns of life in recent months.

Today my morning started with an e-mail from an Ancestry connection I had discovered on my daughter's tree (her father's side) who lives just about 2 miles up the main highway. Last night I had sent him pictures of daughter and her son and daughter. This morning he sent photos of his sons - and they are nearly identical to my grandson! They must be related at something like a 5th cousin or generation level but not any level where one would expect that sort of genetic flow - and especially because we can't find the actual linkages - YET! Blew my mind! Now I know we will all have to get together soon. Blessedly we have parks where we can meet.

Next I drove down to see Hubby. He was in a good mood and reasonably in touch with reality. On the way home I stopped at a larger branch of the Freddy's chain to see if I could find some sugar-free jellies to go with my occasional peanut butter sandwich. I did find a couple jars - not much selection but more than the nothing in my local store. I added a package of salad for supper to go with that meat loaf I'm still eating and will head to my regular store tomorrow.

Our weather has suddenly turned inordinately warm - 70s for a couple more days and even low 80s expected for a couple days after that. Tomorrow I will try to get my little primrose plants into the ground - Saturday at the latest. I love having bright colored flowers in the yard and have not been able to get them going in recent years.

On that ambitious note I'll move on for the evening. Best wishes to everyone for a fabulous Friday.

Carol: We have people not coming back to the office, and entire offices letting go of their leases. It's definitely making a change to how our office is going to run.

Julie: For yoga I've been following Brett Larkin and Bettina Rae, and for cardio I usually follow Leslie Sansone. I like her, and her videos have a good variety of lengths depending on how long I want to go. I didn't do cardio last night, though. I fell asleep when Little Man did. I was exhausted.

The house was 59 when I woke up so I turned the heat on to bring it to 70, but it felt too hot with the heat blowing so I changed it to cool. It's still 70 but now I'm freezing even in a robe under a blanket with fuzzy socks on. There is just no middle "comfortable".

DH took the trash out this morning. He's been making an effort to try to get it out more, but when he takes it out I always follow with 6-7 more bags and some boxes once I'm up emoticon Good thing they don't get to our house until about 11!

I made broccoli and cheese stuffed chicken and baked potatoes for dinner last night. Little Man tried one bite of potato and refused to eat. So he got a hot dog with American cheese and chili fritos, which he inhaled emoticon Tonight I think will be tater tot casserole. I've got some ground beef I need to use up. For lunch I'll be having a salad, and Little Man will probably have ham and cheese with black olives.

Wish me luck staying awake today, I'm already wanting a nap and it's only 9:30 emoticon

Good morning!

GoodFeline, I admire your dedication to daily exercise! Best wishes for the kitchen organizing.

Carol, I admire your dedication to keeping up the lawn and garden! Safe and happy travels to you today.

I decided to go to the supermarket yesterday, but my car wouldn't start. It's not been driven very much at all this past year and the battery has run down. The city transport service is offering door-to-door rides for people to get their covid vaccines, and I was able to arrange that for my 2nd shot on Friday. When the husband gets home he will get a new battery in my car. The soonest he could possibly be home is Saturday, but they might send him someplace else after he delivers in Wisconsin. Anyway, it's a good thing I'm not out of anything important.

Wishing everyone a day of mindful nurturing!

Good evening Team,

I hope everyone has had a wonderful Wednesday.

GoodFeline, I understand the problems with the many problems associated with day care and why you would want to work from home. From what I have read, the whole business culture has been turned on its head with people preferring to work from home. In fact, I read that a significant number of people are quitting jobs that are requiring them to go back into the office full time. Also, working from home at least part-time is also on the things people are demanding in new jobs as they interview. You are definitely not alone! Good luck with that house-cleaning project too.

Julie, Your ability to make changes to clothing and create new designs from previous ones just utterly amazes me! Obviously it saves you money and gives both you and your husband a wide variety of clothing options. And then the Hubster got sent to Wisconsin? That should at least help to put more jingle coins in the income jar. It sounds as though you have plenty to keep you busy until he gets home. Do you think he will make it for D&D on Sunday?

I had a blessedly quiet day, puttering around the house sort of uselessly in the morning, tinkering with various chores. Today was my daughter-in-law's birthday, so I made sure to send a nice text to her. It was also the day my youngest brother-in-law was due for shoulder surgery in North Carolina, so I sent him an encouraging text as well.

After lunch I was ready to start mowing the lawn; my daughter texted about when she could come finish it and I told her I was already on it. She was miffed - she's gotten quite protective lately - but I promised her I would text her when I finished so she would know I was all right. I'm glad she cares but I'm not a child! Nor am I helpless! Anyway, I mowed front and back (and reported back to my junior mother hen), then filled the yard waste bucket (not quite full) with leaves from last autumn, leaving space for another load of grass next week.

Next came hand-trimming the edges of the grass (front and back) as it was too close to the new flowers coming up for the mower to get it. Finally I checked all the sprinkler heads to clear out mud that accumulates during the winter. Two and a half hours all told - whoever predicted a need for inactivity the 2nd day after that Covid shot didn't know this old lady! I also ran the sprinkler system through a cycle and then hand watered Hubby's gladiolus bulbs he planted last year (out of season) as they are coming up nicely now. The dahlias and lilies out front are poked up through the soil and the yarrow is rounding itself out nicely too. Spring has truly sprung around here! And now, of course, I'm exhausted.

But I wanted to get it all done as I will be going to visit Hubby tomorrow and then grocery shopping on the way home. So I do need to move on. Best wishes to everyone for a restful night's sleep tonight and a thoughtful day on Thursday.

Carol

Carol: I definitely don't want to go back. It's just too convenient being at home with Little Man, and other than cataloging there's really nothing I can't do from home. 98% of our interactions with the attorneys and staff were already by email or phone.

Julie: Their prices weren't too bad, a week of dinners cost me about $48. I hope they taste as good as the pictures look. I still prefer cooking my own meals, but these seem like better options than takeout for the days I forget to start the slowcooker, get too busy to cook, or just don't feel like putting something together.

I've been weighing myself every day and today I was 268 even! It's so rare to hit an even number. I started this round of weight loss at 273.8. Slow but steady. I've been doing an hour of yoga a day recently, and I think tonight I might try to fit some cardio in after Little Man goes to sleep. Just something short, I'm not in great shape right now, but it should tire me out and get those extra calories burned. Last time I lost weight I was working out about 2 hours a day doing yoga, cardio, and strength training. So I want to eventually build up to an hour of yoga during the day and an hour of cardio/strength training after Little Man is asleep. Thank goodness for YouTube, I don't have a way to play my DVDs upstairs.

This weekend we're going to tackle the terrifying mess that is our kitchen. It needs desperate organizing. I bought a new shelf with a spot for the microwave so we can clear some counter space and we're going to try to clean out the cupboards to make room for all the clutter we've got on the counters. Our goal is to do one room of the house each weekend until the house is nice and clean.

We decided to have bahn mi from the Vietnamese shop for dinner last night since I was booked solid with meetings and DH didn't want to cook, so broccoli and cheese chicken with potatoes will be dinner tonight. My lunch will be a salad and little man will probably have some turkey, cheese, and raisins.

Good morning!

GoodFeline, I forgot you had told us about ECC a while back; thanks for the reminder. I hope you enjoy the Schwan's. I used them way back in the 1980s for a while. As I recall the foods were on the expensive side, but very good quality.

Carol, I'm glad you didn't have much reaction to the vaccine! Hubster reported only soreness at the injection site after his 2nd Moderna shot. I can't remember the last time I wrote a check. I keep my handwriting skills by journaling.

Himself got sent to Wisconsin when he was headed home yesterday, so there's no telling when he will be back. I did my Suzy Homemaker things and did a blog post about my latest recycling project (photos and link below, if you're interested). I've got no big plans for today. If it doesn't rain too much, I might venture out to the supermarket, but that's about it.

Wishing everyone joy from time spent with who or what you're most deeply connected!

Good evening Team,

I hope everyone has had a terrific Tuesday.

GoodFeline, that ECC sounds like a great place for children. I wish there had been something like that when I was growing up as it would have been helpful to be exposed to other children in those early years. (I was an only child.) Congratulations on getting in all the workout time. And my sympathies to you with the cramping - I had those for a few years and they were awful. And I did have to chuckle at the problem of balancing "work time" on the computer and child time at home, with the option to be able to fudge some of that time. It seems like the dark ages were when we had to figure out child care during the office time and didn't have any possible options like the current ones. It's no wonder so many people do not want to go back to a standard 40-hour in the office work week. (My daughter has similar issues, just with her puppy instead of her kids, for now.)

Julie, it's good to hear that your husband is getting more work now; not too long ago I recall there was an issue of scheduling and income. But the idea of a lot of drivers might be red flags about this new company too. I hope things stay smooth for your husband through this transition time. Meanwhile, at least you are getting some sewing time. Also, thank you for the encouragement for the smooth sailing day. I don't know that I would call this a trend, yet, but I'll take each easy day I can get as it arrives.

Today was sort of a mixed bag. I woke up around 8:00 a.m. and couldn't seem to sleep any later. But my energy never did kick in, probably as a result of that second covid vaccination yesterday. Still, a very slightly sore arm and some fatigue seem to be the only side effects. I did make a meat loaf since I had thawed the ground turkey for it, and that will stretch to help with meals for several days. Also went to the Post Office to mail a check and then stopped at the credit union to order more checks, as I seem to be going through them rather quickly these days. Yes, I know I can figure out how to bank online, and one of these days I will. But for now, this makes it easier for me to track receipts for tax time. I suspect by the end of this year things will change. Besides, my handwriting has gone to pot (too much computer use) and checks are about the only way I keep up the practice with my cursive writing - including my own signature!

Enough jabbering. It's time to finish my Spark postings and make my chamomile tea for bedtime. Best wishes to everyone for a wonderful Wednesday.

Julie: It's the Early Childhood Center, a learning and play center for the young kids in the school district. His speech team wants him to attend so he can get more socialized, be exposed to children his age, and see more speech in action.

He did not get to see his speech teacher yesterday. She forgot when they closed and didn't realize she'd be cutting it so close, so we rescheduled for an in-home appointment on Friday. We'll be short-handed at work so my boss isn't technically giving me permission to take the time (only one person is allowed to be off at any given time) so I'll actually be working during the appointment. I won't be actively working, though. I'll be checking email and I'll respond if anything comes up, but the appointment is only 30-45 minutes so I doubt there will be anything so urgent it can't wait. I won't say there couldn't be, there definitely has been "I need this in the next 20 minutes!" requests before, but they aren't very frequent. I let the other reference librarian know I will be distracted, though.

He also didn't want to play very long. DH got him to play for maybe 30 minutes, but he just wanted to be home with snacks and his songs. He also wanted to eat his snacks and listen to his songs while sitting on my lap - he was very distressed for awhile that I wouldn't go downstairs and cuddle with him. DH eventually got him calmed down, though. Poor bub had a stressful day. He slept until 10:30 this morning.

I have exercised 11 out of the last 12 days! I missed a day when I was cramping so bad I could barely move. I called out from work that day so it was a sleep on the couch all day kind of day. Yesterday I went 399 calories over my limit because of intense sweets cravings. I feel bad, but at least I only gained 2 ounces. I'll keep trying to do better. I tried a new protein shake today and it was SO GOOD. Chocolate Peanut Butter flavored (no nuts!). It could easily be a milkshake it was so good. I just might use it to combat my sweet tooth.

I have a busy day this afternoon. I have three webinars immediately after lunch and my weekly staff meeting. I'm completely booked from lunch to 5:00. I'm glad that for dinner this week I decided to try out Schwan's - I ordered a few meals from them that I can just pop in the oven and heat up some veggies for. Tonight I think I'll do broccoli and cheese stuffed chicken with baked potatoes. Lunch for me today is a salad, and Little Man will have some roast beef, cheese, and fig newtons.

Good morning!

GoodFeline, it sounds like things are starting to go your way! What is ECC?

Carol, glad you had a day of smooth sailing! Dare we hope this is an emerging trend?

The husband got called for a short run right after his shot yesterday, so I got to work on my new projects for a while. This morning, he says the injection site is a little sore but no other effects. He's supposed to be back this afternoon, but I'm keeping my plans loose. Several drivers left the company last week, so it's quite possible he'll get sent right out again.

Wishing everyone only light-hearted confrontations today!

Good evening, Team!

I hope everyone has had a marvelous Monday.

GoodFeline, it sounds as though your little guy's ears are coming along quite well. You have my sympathy dealing with him and his ears; when our grandson lived with us I ended up being the one who had to deal with his medical issues, including his ears when the doctor had to irrigate them and clean them out so he could even see the eardrums. We ended up with him sitting on my lap the whole time. I hope your son's Speech Therapist is equally encouraging when she gets his review completed. Good luck too on getting a new work schedule figured out, time at home vs. in the office. Good luck too on getting the debt reduction underway. And special congratulations on getting the weight off in the middle of all these other issues.

Julie, how fortunate that the universe provided the time you needed to get your chores done before your husband got home. It's great that you were able to have your D&D game, even if it was shortened. Good luck to your husband with his 2nd vaccination today. We also had ours today(see below) so we can compare "reactions." Are we taking any bets on how they stack up?

Our weather has turned lovely - sunny with a high in the high 60s and low 70s, due to get warmer all week. The driver of the wheelchair-accessible van scheduled to take Hubby to get his second covid vaccination called at the time he was due there to say he was not coming. So the husband of the lady owner of the facility wheeled Hubby out to his big SUV and helped Hubby transfer into it. Then we all went in his vehicle, Hubby and I got our shots and came back safely. Thank goodness for the "muscles" who could help lift Hubby in and out of that vehicle. I stayed to visit awhile, then came home. I did manage to wrangle the trash and yard waste buckets down to the curb with no trouble.

On that hopeful note I'll finish my other Spark postings and head for bed. Best wishes to everyone for a restful night's sleep and a terrific day on Tuesday.

Happy Monday everyone!

Carol: It was my first shot, the Pfizer one.

Little Man had a hearing test and post-surgery check-up today. They send text reminders for the appointments, but if you have multiple appointments in the same day the texts arrive at the same time, so I only noticed the one for the post-surgery check-up and we ended up being 20 minutes late for the hearing test. They said it wasn't a big deal, they'd just have us do it after the check-up. But his doctor thought he looked so good during his check-up and his hearing test from just 4 months ago was good enough that she was just going to cancel it for today and reschedule it for his next follow-up in October. Which was good, because they had to restrain him to clean his ears for the exam and he was MAD. But I brought peeps and that calmed him down pretty quick when they were done. He got two peeps, one for each hand. He just marched around the room munching on them.

DH took the whole day off for the appointment, so they get to go spend the full time slot at the ECC today. He's supposed to meet with his Speech Therapist there today, but she forgot to put him on the schedule and can't make it until 15 minutes before they close now. I'm texting with her to see if we should just reschedule. At least he'll have fun anyway, and he'll have the option of leaving when he wants today instead of having to leave when they close.

My work sent out a bulletin saying that we're still working from home until further notice, but added that when we do return it will be a gradual opening of offices. So it's not going to be everyone at once returning. And they're still encouraging (but not requiring) everyone to get vaccinated.

There's been movement on my debt reconciliation program. They've sent two updates today (I'm assuming that means they're working on two of my debts) saying they've reached out to my debtor to request proof that I owe and once they review the documents will dispute the debt if appropriate. We're on track to have my private student loan paid off in 3 months, so that's also exciting.

I've been steadily losing little bits of weight, and while it's slow it's encouraging. I'm tracking it daily on my fertility tracker and it's nice to see the line slowly going down a few ounces at a time.

I'm in my "two week wait" now, so send good and pregnant thoughts my way, please.

Good morning!

Carol, I hope the podcast was interesting and that you enjoyed your time with your daughter and her pup! Hopefully you're feeling perkier today.

Time was on our side yesterday, evidently. I got everything set just as the husband came through the door, which was just in time for D&D. We had fun on the adventure, which ran a little shorter than usual. This was to our advantage as it gave us time to cook and eat the food I had prepped.

Himself goes to VA for his 2nd vaccination this morning, and probably has the day off. He has it stuck in his mind that the shot will make him sick. I'm going to try one more time to talk him out of that notion so it doesn't become a self-fulfilling prophecy. Since there are plenty of leftovers, I shouldn't have to spend too much time in the kitchen, and may be able to get some sewing done. I'm eager to play around with the refashioning project.

Wishing everyone satisfying and rewarding work today!

Good evening Team,

I hope everyone had a great Sunday.

Julie, It sounds as though you had a peaceful morning. I hope you and your husband were able to enjoy the D&D together.

I just pretty much dragged my tail around today. I did some of the puzzles, replied to a few e-mails, and watched a little television. I also listened to an astrology podcast on the planetoid Chiron - speaker was in France, Moderator was in Brazil, the rest of us were scattered around the globe. It's an amazing world we live in. Daughter brought back my now-repaired lawn mower and we let her dog run around my yard for awhile.

Too tired for anything else. Best wishes to everyone for a refreshing night's sleep and a marvelous day on Monday.

Good morning!

Carol, I'm glad you were able to enjoy a peacefully uninterrupted day! Time does seem to pass differently when one is alone, I think. Are you having any luck changing your sleeping times?

We had a nice breakfast and finished our board game before the husband went to work yesterday. He also finished weeding out his burgeoning wardrobe at my request. I added a couple of things to the Goodwill bag and took the rest up to the sewing room for refashioning. I spent some of the afternoon getting started on a new project and some of it in sous chef duties. Then I got fascinated by an Amazon TV series called Them, and stayed up way too late binge-watching. The Hubster should be getting home right about the time we start D&D, so I'm getting the decks cleared for that.

Wishing everyone time to learn something new today!

Good evening Team,

i hope everyone has had a satisfying Saturday.

Julie, it's great that you were able to get your chores done and still have plenty of time to enjoy with your husband. Those open windows sound especially inviting. I hope you are able to enjoy the D&D game on Sunday, with or without your husband.

My day was peaceful enough. I cleaned up the kitchen this morning, wrote a couple checks, drove up to Safeway for bread and the newspaper with those puzzles, and went to the Post Office to mail the checks. I'm not sure where the rest of the afternoon went. The phone never rang and no one came to visit. I tried to call Hubby but he did not answer; probably had his earphones on, listening to music. I wanted to get into the yard to start getting rid of weeds, but the forecasters had predicted - correctly - that there would be scattered showers this afternoon so I put that chore on the back burner too. The weather gurus are promising several dry and warming days in a row, so I am hoping to make good use of that time, assuming I am not running to get my Covid shot or in bed trying to recover from that injection.

So on that happy note I'll move on to my other postings and then make my chamomile tea for bedtime. Best wishes to everyone for a restful night's sleep and a sweetheart of a day on Sunday.

Good morning!

GoodFeline, I hope you and your cat are both feeling better. It is nigh impossible to coerce cats into doing anything they don't want to do, especially when it involves getting into a carrier!

Carol, I'm so glad you're feeling better about your decisions and starting to look forward to positive changes in your life!

It was a pleasant day here yesterday. I got my chores done early to enjoy the day with the husband. We went to the supermarket, started a board game, had a nice vegetarian meal, and talked over near-future plans. It was warm and fair enough to have the windows open all day. I just love that. Himself is going on another short run today, so I'll try to get started on the new project I finally decided upon.

Wishing everyone the ability to ignore "shoulds" in favor of a higher calling.

Good evening Team,

I hope everyone has had a fabulous Friday.

GoodFeline, how unfortunate that you were ill yesterday. I hope you are feeling better today. we all have those occasional cravings when we feel sick, and most of the time we regret the choice, so you are definitely not alone in that process. But tomorrow is a new day and things can be changed at that point. You said you were fatigued after your Covid vaccination. Was that your first or second in a series - or a one-shot-only variety? I'm told that usually the reactions accompany the second one cam be more intense. In any case, take care of yourself and I hope you feel better soon. Also sorry to hear about the dog's problems; I hope those get resolved soon too.

Julie, it sounds as though your organizations skills are continuing to get a workout and that you are doing well with the process. I hope you and your husband have been able to enjoy your interludes together.

You are quite correct that I am blessed to have my daughter close by and that she is so caring. We had a lot of stresses as she grew up and both have worked hard to develop the peace and affection we share now. She came today and drove us both in my car down to the Adult Foster home where Hubby is residing these days. The family meeting went quite well. Fulga (owner) had an extensive form she had to fill out for the County office that licenses these places and oversees their operations, and she reviewed it with us. It all really confirmed that I made the right move in placing my husband there. Now it is time for me to shift my focus from the details of his life to re-establishing my own. The first step of that is to try to get my sleep patterns realigned to an earlier pattern.

In that line, I'll now move on to finishing my Spark postings and making my chamomile tea for bedtime. Best wishes to everyone for a restful night's sleep and a super day on Saturday.

I was out sick yesterday so I splurged on a gas station apple pie this morning. I usually enjoy the fruit pies, but it was actually kind of gross. Way too sweet and the apples didn't really taste like apples. I regret the decision and I'm sorry I wasted the calories. Now I know better.

Nothing new to report, really. My dietician reduced my calorie limit and increased my exercise goal. I've been fatigued since my Covid vaccination, needing long naps to get through the day. I bought some bathroom doorknobs with locks on them because Little Man has decided to just start barging in on closed doors emoticon

Ghost was supposed to go to the vet yesterday afternoon for a...erm...stinky butt problem (he's having issues expressing his anal glands). I managed to grab him and get him in the carrier, but as I went to zip the enclosure he slipped out of my hand and ran away! He wedged himself under our large sectional and wouldn't budge, even when we opened the bed. I ended up having to cancel the appointment and he didn't come out for hours, even when Chester was meowing for him. It's not an urgent issue so the vet said to just call for a new appointment if he continues being stinky, but he's terrible to get into a carrier. We try to avoid taking him in if we can.

Good morning!

Carol, you are very fortunate to have such a loving daughter so nearby! I hope your visit with your husband will be enjoyable and all goes well with the family meeting.

It was rainy and colder yesterday, which was good for staying in and getting some things done indoors. I did some organizing and planning for the season ahead and enjoyed the break from the constant noise of lawnmowers and weed whackers in the neighborhood of late. Today I'll be finishing up weekly chores to spend the afternoon with the husband. He's leaving again tomorrow for another short trip. There's sewing to do, too, naturally.

Wishing everyone sees the inspiration and opportunities available!

Good evening Team,

I hope everyone has had a thoughtful Thursday.

GoodFeline, I trust your family is well and that you are enjoying some good time with that young son of yours.

Julie, you sound as busy and organized as usual; I hope you and your husband had a good day and you accomplished everything you wanted to do. It sounds as though he might be home for D&D on Sunday too, assuming they don't cancel it again.

Thank you for the link to the article on dizziness. It was quite informative and I also passed the link on to my daughter as well. Knowing that ERs see so many cases of dizziness made me feel a little less foolish than when we went down there yesterday. Since I also had this occur a few months ago I will not rule out a recurrence somewhere down the line, so I will be keeping a hard copy in my file for future reference too.

Today was blessedly much quieter. I spent some time just watching TV while I ate breakfast and lunch, the recently saved episodes of The Rookie, which I enjoy. My daughter came over to mow my lawn with the recently-refurbished mower. She mowed the small front yard and half of the larger side yard; at that point we ran out of space in the yard waste bucket (actually sort of over-flowed it!) and she was out of time. So she took the mower back to be worked on some more and will be back with it in a few days. She wants so much to do things to "protect" me, especially after yesterday. Fortunately, my symptoms seem to have all subsided.

Tomorrow she will be going down to the Adult Foster Home with me to visit with Hubby. The owner called me today to say that she tries to have monthly family meetings and she missed our first one, so we will all be sitting down together tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Hubby told me tonight that his favorite niece from Maine, the one helping him put together his memoirs, had a cancerous lump removed from her breast today, so he is understandably upset about that. Her father and one of her brothers were among that bunch of family members who passed away a couple years ago, so I know that is bringing back some of his memories of that unfortunate time. He is still waiting for further medical reports from her too.

So, as usual, we take one day at a time. Best wishes to everyone for a restful night's sleep and a fabulous Friday as well.

Good morning!

Carol, that dizziness must be very distressing! I hope it has gone completely. Coincidentally, I recently read an article about CT scans for dizziness. I found it on line after reading your post. Don't know if it applies to your situation, but here it is:

It was very warm and sunny all day yesterday, a nice opportunity to have the windows open and air out the house. The husband returned late last night and will be leaving again in a couple of hours. He expects to be home for the weekend. I plan to drop off a bag at Goodwill, pick up a few things at the supermarket, do the weekly house cleaning and weekend food prep, and maybe get in a little sewing.

Wishing everyone heartfelt decisions today!

Good evening Team,

I hope everyone had a wonderful Wednesday.

Julie, your day with Pepper sounds incredibly delightful. I hope you had a great time weeding out your wardrobe and planning new projects. Your movie sounds as though it must have been a fun one.

I slept in this morning, then called the lady who owns my husband's Adult Foster Home, to see if he was all right: I called several times yesterday and then this morning but he never answered. It turned out he was fine - just sitting listening to music through his headphones so he never heard his phone ring. The nice lady had him call me. Among other things, he asked me to bring him a folder of information he needs for editing his memoirs. After getting off the phone I sat on the floor going through his files.

Out of nowhere, my old world-spinning dizziness returned in full force. It's a good thing I was already on the floor. Ultimately I recovered enough to get to my phone to call my daughter, who whisked me away first to the urgent care and then down to the hospital emergency room. Several hours and a CT Scan later they released me with no definitive results or explanations. So my daughter took me out for a late dinner (we had no lunch) and brought me home. I'm still a bit fuzzy but in no pain.

So for now I am going to simply sign off and head for bed. I hope everyone has a restful night's sleep and a thoughtful Thursday.

Good morning!

GoodFeline, you'll probably find the hobby of your dreams when and where you least expect!

Carol, enjoy your nowhere-to-be day!

I had an easy day yesterday. I spent some time looking for answers to questions that have been niggling at me for a long while, which was satisfying. I also started weeding out my wardrobe to see where any needs might be for sewing projects. Today, it's just me and Pepper again, so I can finish up my wardrobe planning, and whatever else I decide to do, without interruption.

Wishing everyone finds something good in every occurance!

p.s. Caught a great old movie on TV called Keeper of the Flame (1942, Spencer Tracy, Katharine Hepburn). It's quite a good story with unexpected turns, and ends with a very interesting political analysis that still resonates.

Good evening Team,

I hope everyone has had a terrific Tuesday.

I have had another day of being overwhelmed, so this will be a bit short.

GoodFeline, the birthday party you are planning sounds like fun. Good luck and I hope the good weather holds for you.

Julie, it sounds as though you and your husband had an enjoyable and productive day.

I met with the Nurse Practitioner at the Sleep Clinic today and got the approval for another year's payment for my CPAP machine. Afterward I shopped for groceries and also picked up some enriching soil for planting my new little plants and also some clover/dandelion killer that was on sale. When I got home I got a call asking me to come back and help the nursing student prepare for her exam, so that took the rest of my day.

Tomorrow will be my first day in forever that I have nowhere that I have to go. I plan to sleep in and then start to create some order out of the giant chaos that currently serves as my home. I'll also try to set aside some time to catch up with my team postings and other computer correspondence.

Best wishes to everyone for a wonderful day on Wednesday.

Carol

Carol: DH got his first shot a month ago and claimed to be sick for a week, he called out of work and wouldn't do anything around the house. Just slept and groaned about his misery. He still hasnít had his second shot scheduled. I feel fine. Iím a little tired, but I can probably chalk that up to Little Man waking at 3:30 again. Chester opted not to snuggle with us last night so I think I can definitively confirm he is the Sandman in feline disguise.

Little Man does still sleep with me. We'll bedshare until he doesn't want to anymore. Right now he falls asleep snuggled into my side while cuddling my arm. I'm able to get up and leave once he's asleep though, so I'm not trapped with him or anything, but I like the quiet time so I do usually just go down for the night when he does.

Julie: I made an account on roll20 last night but the D&D groups I saw that were accepting new players wanted you to submit character proposals, or were at, like, 11pm or 4am. I found one that seemed perfect but they had only one slot open and 25 people were already asking to join. I think I'll just wait until I can join one in person. DH has been hinting he might be willing to start paying for me to get massages again, so maybe I'll do WoW and massages as my hobby. I know WoW has changed so much since I last played so I might just make a new character and start over to see how I like the changes, since levels 1-20 are free to play.

Weíre planning Little Manís birthday party and so far, the plan is to go to my moms and grill hot dogs while Little Man and my niece play in the kiddie pool in the backyard. My friend and her mom will be coming, since theyíll be fully vaccinated. She canít eat beef or pork so Iíll bring a pack of my favorite vegan hot dogs and we can enjoy those together.

I think lunch today will be a baked potato for me, and mac n cheese for Little Man. Dinner will be leftover chicken and noodles.

Good morning!

GoodFeline, I wouldn't worry too much about side effects from the Covid vaccine. It's supposed to induce an immune response, very much like a flu shot. You get over it quickly, and it's worlds better than getting the disease. On a brighter note, roll20.net has a lot of new virtual D&D groups starting up.

Carol, it sounds like you enjoyed your busy day. I'm glad your husband wasn't injured too much by the fall. Best of luck with the sleep study today!

The husband had the day off yesterday, and we spent most of it working on our hobbies. He's getting close to finished with a race car model he's been doodling with for months. I got the back, binding, and label done for my quilt. I might make a couple of spring garments for myself before changing machines and table set-up for quilting. Himself is going out on a short run today, so I'll have time to decide and get started.

Wishing everyone a day of thoughtful reflection.

Good evening Team,

I hope everyone has had a marvelous Monday.

GoodFeline, I'm glad you found a way to get your little one to sleep the night through. I gather if Chester is now allowed back on the bed that your so is also still sleeping with you. Perhaps Chester will ultimately be the key to getting your son into his own bed when the time comes. As for the vaccine, from what I have heard the first show is no big deal (mine wasn't either) but it is the second one that can be the tough one. That info came from the folks at the Adult Foster Home where my husband is being cared for these days. Hubby and I will be getting our second shots on the 12th of this month; I'll let you know how it goes.

Julie, I'm glad you and your husband had an enjoyable day with shopping and good food. I'm really not surprised about the TN blue laws still in place. When we were still living in CO several years ago they were still closing most of the restaurants and stores at noon on Easter; we couldn't even buy groceries or have a celebration meal at a restaurant. I'm not sure what OR did; I simply stayed home and then helped the nurse with her video and didn't worry about any kind of celebration or shopping.

Our weather today was sunny and somewhat cool, in the 50s I think. I had a call from the lady who owns the Adult Foster Home that Hubby had taken a tumble last night. He did manage to scrape up his back but it seemed better this morning. When I got down to the Home to visit him the Physical Therapy guy was still there - and he helped Hubby walk with his walker out to greet me at the front door! What a surprise. I waited until they finished the PT session and while Hubby looked pretty pleased with himself he was really exhausted for the rest of the afternoon. I had a quick dinner when I got home and then went back to help the nurse making the video for her class exam. We finished a bit early, which was fine with me as I'm quite tired. I'm sure she will pass the class, which is really the important part of this process.

On that note I'm going to finish my Spark postings and then head for bed. I have to be up early in the morning for my annual appointment with the Sleep Clinic so they will validate my cpap use (I have to take the recording piece to them) so Medicare will pay for its rental for another year. Best wishes to everyone for a restful night's sleep and a terrific day on Tuesday.

Happy 1/2 price candy day! Not much to say today.

Carol: Chester seems to be the ticket. Little Man slept like a log all weekend and Chester is delighted that he's being allowed back onto the bed with us.

Julie: I haven't had any luck with MeetUp, but I'll give the other site a look.

Little man had a good time with Nana yesterday. He ate far too many peeps, played with Legos and trucks, and ran around outside with lots of bubbles from his new bubble scepter. The peeps were the star of the show but he enjoyed the things in his basket - he was chewing on his teether and looking through his book, too.

I got my first vaccine dose today. DH is telling me to be prepared to call out from work tomorrow, but we'll see.

While I was inside getting registered (which took 20 minutes - they weren't sure what to do with someone who has no government ID even though the registration portal online only said you needed your insurance card) and waiting around DH got Little Man a cookie. He's a pro at wearing his food as fashion.

Chicken and noodles for dinner tonight. Then I think an early bedtime for me, I'm wiped.

Good morning!

Carol, it sounds like you had a restful Sunday! Enjoy your visits today!

It was a fine day here yesterday with sunshine and warmer temperatures. The husband got home and we had a nice chicken dinner before going out for groceries. We went to the Asian market where they had evidently just received fresh produce. We got some gorgeous vegetables, mushrooms, and seafood as well as a big bag of basmati rice and some spices. Then we went to the supermarket for the rest of the stuff we needed. I found out they didn't repeal quite all of the blue laws in TN a few years ago - you can't buy wine on easter, xmas, or thanksgiving in TN. Stupid.

No telling what we'll be doing today; a good deal depends on whether Himself goes to work.

Wishing everyone a day of intuition!

Good evening Team,

I hope everyone has had a super Sunday.

Julie, congratulations on getting that quilt top finished; that sure sounds as though it took a lot of work on your part. I trust your husband got home safely and the two of you enjoyed your afternoon and evening together. Thank you for your kind comments about my pursuing the yard work and the mower. I really do like working out in the yard; my biggest frustration has been the combination of demands on my time and interspersing those time among the rain showers. With any luck things will start to dry out soon. I understand your thoughts about the nurse and her discussion of personal issues. My thought is that this was not a typical professional setting or medical/therapeutic situation. She was working on getting a college project completed and I was there to help her out. She didn't violate any confidentiality from the medical part of her life.

My morning was spent sleeping in, coloring my hair, and washing up some dirty dishes. I also talked to Hubby who got a good chuckle out of my stories about the nurse. I went back to help her again this evening; she was in a better mental space and made good progress on getting ready to make the final version of the recording she needs for her work. We will probably finish that up tomorrow night after my usual Monday visit with Hubby.

So best wishes to everyone for a restful night's sleep and a marvelous Monday as well.

Good morning!

Carol, I admire your dedication to your lawn maintenance and courage to deal with the mower! Odd that the NP candidate disclosed so much of her own baggage. As I recall, day 1 lesson 1 of my initial psych rotation was about maintaining professional distance.

I got my quilt top finished yesterday, and I'm happy with it. There's still a lot to do to make it a quilt, but the major creative work is done. The husband will be home around noon, so I'm going to get that chicken in the oven with some veggies for an early supper. No plans yet for the afternoon, but maybe it will be a good day for grocery shopping or a walk in the park.

Wishing everyone a day of good choices!

Good evening Team,

I hope everyone has had a spectacular Saturday.

Julie, I'm sorry to hear that the new lawn guy didn't show up when expected; at lease he did call to reschedule, and I gather will not be charging you more than you were paying before. Hopefully it will all get sorted out soon. Having your D&D cancelled is a bummer. At least you and your husband have some board games to keep you amused.

My day started with my daughter picking up my lawn mower so she could repair it; she was also taking her own mower and planning to work at her SO's workshop, where he was expected to sharpen the blades for both of us. As might be expected, he apparently did most of the work on both of them; I really do want to find some way to thank him but it might have to wait for a little more "covid relief" in our area. Daughter brought it back and showed me a few small controls I did not know existed on the machine, and truth be told my husband apparently did not know either. So now it is all cleaned up and ready for use except that I have to put some fresh gasoline in it. That I can manage myself!

I did talk to Hubby this afternoon and told him about the little "evening job" so he would not try to call me later and then worry when I did not answer. I'll call him again tomorrow before I leave so he will know he is not being forgotten. Then I'll get back to see him on Monday.

This afternoon I went over to be the "practice patient" for the lady working on her psych nurse practitioner certification and thought about you as I listened to her rant that this is something she will never have to use during her actual work. I laughed because I think she spent more time talking to me about her personal issues than actually working on the practice routine. I felt more like her counselor. However, she did eventually get some professional work done and we will try to finish it up tomorrow.

On that note I'll finish my Spark postings and head for bed. Best wishes to everyone for a refreshing night's sleep and a super Sunday. And here are also wishes for a Happy Easter to those of you who are celebrating it.

Good morning!

GoodFeline, there are loads of online D&D groups. You might be able to get into a beginner's game on roll20.net or meetup.com.

Carol, I'm very glad to hear that your husband is happy in his new situation! It seems like it is so much safer for him there.

Pepper does like being brushed, but has limited patience with the shedding comb. I switch back and forth between the comb and the soft brush, and she's pretty good about it.

The lawn guy didn't show up yesterday, but he did call the husband to reschedule for today. I got a lot done on my quilt and should be able to finish the top today. Himself will be home sometime tomorrow, and I have a chicken thawing out for roasting. D&D is cancelled with several players having holiday plans, so maybe we'll play a board game.

Happy easter to those who observe it!

Wishing everyone an opportunity to learn something new today!

Good evening Team,

I hope everyone has had a fabulous Friday.

GoodFeline, it's kind of you to take some of your chocolates to your ailing friend; it will certainly get it out of the way of tempting you to over-indulge in the chocolate. It will be interesting to see what happens with the customs people; I hope they get those shipments to you soon; getting a double order for the price of one could also be taken as a sign from the Universe! It will be interesting to see what happens. Shorts for the summer - how fast the time goes. It seems only yesterday we were all inundated with snow! Good luck with your little boy and the hearing issues; our grandson had ear problems at that age; he and his mother and sister were living with us in those days and I remember well some of those doctor visits. But it's too bad he is having trouble sleeping; hopefully it's just a phase and will pass soon. Meanwhile, good luck getting that D&D group going!

Julie, how fortunate that the lawn service issue seems to be taking care of itself - a bit late, perhaps, but at least still happening. I hope it all gets worked out for you. It sounds as though you will have plenty of chores to keep you occupied. How does Pepper take to her brushing? Does she love the attention or hate the brush? Whichever way it goes, good luck.

Our weather has been beautiful today, sunny and temps in the high 60s. I did not have time to get outside to work in the yard as my phone kept ringing all morning (my son and I talked for over an hour as we did not talk last week and had a lot to catch up on) and I had a lengthy get-acquainted chat with the lady doing the physical exam for her video-recorded testing. The weather is slated to be cooler tomorrow but I will try to get out there. Daughter's going to pick up my lawn mower to take to her SO to get it ready for me to use. It's generous and I will try to be appreciative, but I really wanted to learn from him how to do it myself. Maybe in the autumn I will learn more about winterizing it and then go from there next spring. I did get down to see Hubby today. It's really gratifying that every time I visit he tells me how happy he is that I found the place he is now in. He really likes the people and appreciates the care he receives. That certainly gives me some peace of mind about the situation.

No other real news so I'll move on. Best wishes to everyone for a restful night's sleep and a productive day on Saturday.

A friend of mine has started infusion for her chronic illness, but she can't take time off work so she gets the infusion on her day off then has to go back to work the next day. She feels cruddy but there's not much she can do. So I'm going to take her some Easter candy while she's at work tomorrow, since it's on the way to my moms. At least she can munch on some chocolate while she feels cruddy.

My meds are STILL stuck in customs. The company noticed, though, and sent me an email last night saying they're just going to reship my order to me for free since it's taking so long. Hopefully this shipment has better luck! Someone in my ttc group who also orders from them said the last time that happened to her she ended up getting the order released from customs so she got double her order, which would be pretty cool. I'm not in too much of a hurry right now - I have to take the meds near the beginning of my cycle and I haven't ovulated yet, so I have some time. I just feel better having it on hand.

The weather is supposed to really be heating up so I ordered Little Man some new shorts and t-shirts, since we mostly just have long sleeve shirts and pants in his size. I also got him some sandals. Gotta stay comfy!

He has his post-surgical check up and hearing test coming up soon, on the 12th. We've got to start practicing for the hearing test. He's no longer young enough that he'll sleep through the tests and he HATES his ears being messed with so DH wasn't able to keep him calm through the last test. I usually have better luck so I'm doing this one, but I want to try practicing with ear buds beforehand. Maybe desensitize him a little to having things in his ears. We've also got to start practicing with masks - he's two next month which means places like the ECC, where he gets his hair cut, and his doctors offices are going to be expecting him to wear one. He's not scared of masks anymore, but the ear loops are going to bug him.

Last night was a failure - he woke up at 3 ready to play and didn't fall back asleep until somewhere around 5:30. I fell asleep before I could open the door to let Chester in, so I'm wondering if he slept so well Wednesday night because he had Chester snuggling him? Chester likes to sleep with us and his trouble sleeping started around the same time I stopped letting Chester in because I wanted to keep it dark. But maybe Chester is more soothing than I thought. I am going to test this theory tonight. Of course he could just be going through a developmental leap and nothing I do will help. But kitty snuggles won't hurt, at least.

Someone on Nextdoor is starting a weekend D&D group and I'd very much like to join, but it's in person. I live in a heavily conservative area and I see very little to no mask wearing when we're out so I have concerns about the safety of the group. I responded to his post saying I was interested but have a high risk toddler so was wondering about the safety of the group. We'll see if anyone says anything, but I think it's probably a hobby I'm just going to have to wait another year or so to start.

DH went grocery shopping so lunch today is a salad for me, Little Man is going to have some roast beef, cheese, and macaroni salad. Dinner is sausage links cooked with bell peppers and onions with rotini as a side.

Good morning!

Carol, it seems the Universe is laying things out for you and you're seizing the opportunities to enjoy new experiences!

The old lawn service called the husband yesterday and made excuses for the new guy not calling. I forgot to mention that this new guy is supposed to give us the same deal we had with the old guy. Anyway, the old guy promised to mow for us today and get the new guy started, and Hubster was happy about that. The pest control guy is coming today, too, and I'm happy about that.

It's even colder today than yesterday, but at least it's sunny and without precipitation. I plan to do the weekly routine housework today and work some more on my quilt. I should probably try to get Pepper brushed first, since she seems to have started her spring shed.

Wishing everyone a day of friendship!

Good evening Team,

I hope everyone has had a terrific Thursday.

GoodFeline, I'm truly sorry to hear about your grandpa's colon cancer. I know it can be beaten (had a cousin who did that) but it's a tough road to take in the process. It's fortunate that your aunt (his daughter, I assume) will be able to come to help him during that long recovery period. I'll send some extra good thoughts in his direction. As for the matter of trying to conceive another child and having that possible plan discouraged, I am reminded of an old family saying. When the Universe wants you to go in a certain direction, it will start out by giving you a hint. If you don't pay attention you get a nudge. If you still don't listen you get a shove. Next comes a swift kick in the butt, and if all else fails you get a 2x4 over the head that is really miserably painful. It's better to pay attention at lower levels because that 2x4 can be incredibly awful. So perhaps - and it's only a possible perhaps - the Universe is trying to turn you in a particular, perhaps totally different or unexplored, direction on this subject. Not saying what direction as there are a lot of possibilities. Just a thought drifting through - throw it out if you don't like it. Meanwhile, it sounds as though you have found several new directions for amusement for that young son of yours - three cheers! And great job of figuring out so quickly the schedule adjustment that he needs; that has to be a great relief.

Julie, it sounds as though that cold day was just the motivation you needed to stay in and get work done on your quilt and chores. Hopefully Mother Nature will blow out all of that snow and cold air from now on and bring in real springtime weather for you.

I puttered around this morning and then enjoy almost a 3-hour Zoom astrology gathering in the Salon. After dinner my daughter came by to deliver the mini-cassette tapes for Hubby's recording device. She brought her dog along; he is getting quite leggy and exuberant and was really quite a handful. While she was here she had a call from her counselor who has a friend who needs a "practice patient" this weekend. The lady is studying for her Nurse Practitioner accreditation and has to do a sample exam on a video. No undressing or physical probing. So I volunteered since I have nothing else going on and it will get me out of the house for something different. I think I might even get paid a small amount too. I'll contact the lady tomorrow to get more details and set it up.

So on that adventurous note I'll go finish my other Spark postings and prepare my chamomile tea for bedtime. Best wishes to everyone for a restful night's sleep and a fabulous day on Friday.

Good afternoon!

Carol, congratulations on getting so much done! I bet your yards are starting to look springtime beautiful now!

Yes, there are many lawn services around here, but none that will give me the deal I had with the previous one. They all want to come twice as often and charge twice as much (which comes out to costing four times as much). Still researching the no-mow solutions.

GoodFeline, you do seem to have a lot of decisions to make. It looks to me like the Universe is laying things out for you, though. Your comment about church made me laugh - thanks for that!

Yesterday was dark and rainy, and I worked on my quilt and did some of those long-waiting chores. Today it's a little brighter, but really cold with snow flurries! I guess that's Mother Nature's prank for April Fool's Day. For me, more of the same activities and hopefully no excitement.

Wishing everyone a sense of purpose and a chance to bloom!
