Thanks Cherie - I'll have to look for that. I still have a lot of soreness in the area of the break. Slowly but surely.

Oh I fell through the roof of my attic on the 3rd of January, and broke my foot and sprained my ankle. I was on crutches for a week, now a boot only for 3 weeks, then I can start walking with a supportive tennis shoe on probably the beginning of February. Woohoo!!

I think if I had to do chemo, I'd do a 3 day fast before and a 3 day fast afterwards. That is supposed to be very helpful in letting your body heal itself as much as possible, and also take advantage of not having an appetite!

How long ago was your chemo? My sister finished her 3 month round last August.

Yeah that lemonade diet has been going around forever. A bunch of people in Korea used it in 2000 to lose weight quick. Beyonce also made it "more" famous. My own husband tried it - I wanted to vomit every time I smelled it (I made it for him faithfully - he lost 40 pounds and gained it right back). My BIL still uses it to keep his weight under control.

But my thought is I might have tried it myself if I didn't think the smell so abhorrent!!

Going to the doctor tomorrow for my foot. I hope it's moving in the right direction!

Lemon fast.... interesting, what did that entail?
Well, I started my "fast" today, but I'm taking my medications (lots of supplements) and my fiber, etc, so it not's perfectly calorie free, but it will be free from all food. If I want, I will drink some broth, and I drink coffee with stevia.... I had to do something drastic to get a handle on my out of control eating, and after I talked with my SIL who has lost 60 pounds on OMAD, I got really encouraged....

Just got my dishes washed and put away, will clean the stove top and do the dishwasher later, so everything will be clean for awhile. Here's to a good week. I did a 7 day fast once before and remember it fairly easy, so I'm going to challenge myself with my good memories and do it now... 2021 HAS got to be better than 2020 for my eating, and I do have a wedding in September and would like to have some of this fat off! Also, because it will be hot, I presume, and with my old age I sweat like stink... maybe it won't be as bad, if I lose some weight.

I like the idea of fasting and only eating 1 meal a day.. For starts at least, once I start rocking the keto I will extend the fast.

Longest fast I did back in the day using the Lemon Fast was 14 days

Not right now - my job ended last Friday, and with the social distancing, making masks for friends and family, and trying to get my house in order - too much stress. Also, I want to have a glass of wine at night right now, so maybe later on down the line.

So the Clark Protocol did not work out. I made it 3 days. then felt horrible so I stopped.

Lately I'm trying to do ADF, but I'm not religious about it. I'm doing what I can, and I will take the results I get.

Almost back to under 145... trying to get there before my trip to Hawaii in a week.

Then my goal is 130 by my anniversary the end of June.

So I've been doing the "Clark Protocol" since the beginning of the year - it's 2 days of eating 2 robust keto meals, then 2 days of fasting; 2 days of eating then 3 days of fasting; 2 days of eating then 4 days of fasting; 2 days of eating then 5 days of fasting and it's done. It's an interesting experiment.

So far I'm on track. I feel pretty good, but I realized that even on an eating day, after fasting for a few days a glass of wine wrecks me.

I'm at the start of the 3 day fast which is the longest I've ever fasted before. Fingers crossed that it's fairly easy!

By the way - I'm getting a LOT done at home!!

Wow KD you have a lot going on!! I would have trouble with either of my sisters living with me...good luck!
My first few days back at work have been swamped! I feel like I’m not getting anything done I need to get done and my desk looks worse than I came in Monday. Food has been good, water is definitely lacking. Working out is happening but I can tell I took a week off from strength training!

Yeah my fasting has not gone smoothly lately. DH is moving to Hawaii for 3 years, and we are trying to get him set up with stuff to take, an apartment there, and lots of other things. In addition, my sister is back living with us while her air conditioner is on the fritz. That is super stressful for ME.

Today I fast. This is all I'm going to do. One day at a time for now. Hopefully in a month things will be more calm and I can concentrate on a schedule. Haven't been on the scale in awhile - so no telling. I feel heavier, but don't want the disappointment / dismay if I have gained. So I will wait awhile longer.

Back from a one week vacation and maintained my weight! Practiced OMD but enjoyed my dinners and drinks and a dessert here and there. Made as many low carb choices as I could. I kayaked 2 days and ran 3 days. Back to work tomorrow and back to strength training tomorrow.

As to losing more weight I think I have a bit to lose yet. My thighs seem to still have a fair amount of fat. However I also am really focusing on strength training and toning. If I can tone and look fit and strong I don’t care if I lose any more weight.
Doing OMD for a month sounds like good challenge. I might have to consider trying that myself at some point, hmmm.
Flowers to plant today. Lots of water. Tracking carbs for the next 2 weeks. Generally I am lazy about actually tracking.

Wow - that is exciting!! I would love to see the 130s. Right now I am just trying to get under 145. I dipped down in February, but have stayed above since then.

I've done OMAD all week so far. It's getting easier. Maybe I'll try and do it for the whole month of June, with weekends TMAD.

I drink wine. I love wine. Mostly red, but white if it's hot or I'm in the mood. Dry as get out. Both reds and whites. I could drink a beer if it's a Michelob Light - I'm not much of a beer drinker. As long as it's mostly water!!

Are you trying to lose more weight or are you done losing and just looking for a maintenance plan?

Happy Hour drinks sound fun! What do you usually have for drinks? I like wine and microbrews but so not low carb. I did learn recently that I like honey whiskey which is more carb friendly:0). I’m trying to do no beer and wine for 2 weeks but DH just mentioned that our local brewery is having a block party Friday night... so my 2 weeks may get interrupted!
I have been struggling with leg cramps ag even though I am taking my magnesium. I notice my weight is going down also. Maybe I need to stay an electrolyte drink again for awhile. I make my own with lite salt and real salt and sugar free flavoring. Scale said 133.4 and that may be the lowest it’s been in 20 years! Now to make it stay!

I was doing well - then had happy hour drinks with my sister. So I thought I should probably have some food (keto) to go with it. I got in about 25 hours - so that was really good.

I think I'm going to do OMAD this whole week and see what happens. The main thing I see on the boards is that changing things up is the key to getting unstuck on a weight loss plateau.

I've been trying to crack 145 for months now.....

Lol- that happened to me yesterday! I ate lunch and dinner. After 4 days of random off plan choices it was probably better for me to have a on plan food day instead of fasting. I am always hungry from higher carb foods and it makes fasting harder. I’m going to do 24 hrs from last night to dinner tonight. Probably the same Wednesday since DS has his birthday party Wednesday night.
How is your weather KD? I’m thinking summer might have finally arrived here in MY. Now I need to go get flowers to plant!

How did your fasting go KD? I ended up with a 30 hr fast and quitting early on the 3 day. I’m going to see how I feel today maybe make it roll into 36-48 hr. My mom will be here tomorrow night and DS is having his birthday party Wednesday so 48 hrs would be max time span.

Sounds good Momto.

I'm fasting for 47 hours (from Sunday night til Tuesday night). Trying to take advantage of the fact that hubby is teaching class until 10 at night and I don't have to cook.

2 months from now is my brother's wedding in Alaska. I'm good at the weight I'm at, but if I could lose 5-10 more pounds, it'd be great!!

Good morning all-
I agree that Dr Fungs book on fasting is a must! I am contemplating as close to a 3 day fast as I can get. I need a reset. My fasts always include water, coffee, sparkling water and tea. In the winter broth is nice. My fasts always include a little heavy cream in my coffee. It has never affected my success and allows me to stick to it so that’s what I do. I’ve been doing 24 hr fasts and 16:8 pretty regular so at least a 48- 72 hr fast would mix it up. It’s in mid 80’s this week so a good time to drink water! That’s the plan for now.

Tema fasting is usually recommended once you are fat adapted - which could be several weeks down the road. Then your body just snacks on your own stores, and you don't have the "hangry" feeling that you get when you fast carb loaded.

The book Bev Anne recommends I wholeheartedly recommend as well - and there are many fasting protocols in the back of the book to experiment with.

One thing I love about Dr. Fung is that he says "if it works for you great - if it doesn't, don't do it!" so figure out what you can and want to do, and then try it and see what happens.

After 14 months, I am in a 18/6 intermittent fasting protocol during the week, and then maybe I do 14/10 or 16/8 on weekends. I also throw in a few 24 hour fasts (eating dinner one night, then wait until dinner the next night with nothing in between) and I like to mix it up.

You can have water, tea, and coffee and still consider it a fast. If you are just starting, there are crutches such as cream in your coffee and bone broth. This is a lifestyle, not a short term diet, so we are not trying to get there as fast as possible, just trying to make our lifestyle enjoyable and lose weight along the way.

Fasting is an individual thing but I wouldn't recommend fasting without water. Most people here fast for 16, 24 or 36 hours but if you are going to try a longer fast than that it is recommended that you do it under the care of your doctor. The best book on fasting is:

I have a question on the fasting is that something you do before starting or just throughout your program and also is it completely no food are you allowed to drink anything

Just eating keto foods and 2 meals a day (most of the time) until this move is completed (end of July hopefully). Too much stress to include anything more.

I’ve been enjoying some combination of 16:8 with a small snack at lunch to break fast and OMD. Yesterday we had cookies at work and I drank a sparkling water instead and managed not to have any. I’m choosing harder workouts... jogging hasn’t happened in a week +. Maybe tonight.

Hey Guys, It's been a while since I checked in with you, but I'm still doing the intermittent fasting, usually 16/8. I tried going for more than 24 hours today, but didn't make it -- I was starving! My weight loss seems to be stalled. All those lbs I put on during my trips are sticking like glue. I probably need to shake my routine up. Just this week I started more cardio and weight training... and guess what... gained a lb. Who knew we gained muscle that fast! :)

Had a higher carb day yesterday. Retaining some water today. Will fast go as long as I can today and generally reset. Bacon and avocado sounds good today so maybe my lunch. Yum! What is everyone else up to?

Funny how I quit doing lazy low carb and started losing weight again, lol. I fasted most of yesterday. I had a small snack of almonds and cheese and then dinner.

Weighed in at 134.0 and now we see if that will stay or not. Things are going well!

KD I like some combo of OMD and 18 hr fasting. My body has found a groove with exercise and a alternating fast schedule with these 2 routines. I have seen 135 on the scale for more than 5 days in a row so I think it’s sticking!! Finally doing what I need to to make the scale move.

Way to go MOM2!!!

I did one OMAD and the rest 18 hour IFs. No idea about weight since I'm waiting until the 15th to weigh in, but I feel good!!

Next week I have one OMAD and one full fast planned. We'll see how it goes.

Good luck with your move Bevann!

I went to work conference this week Wed-Fri and did OMD and just ate dinner with my boss. I lost weight! I also did a body weight workout both mornings in my room. I feel really good. I weighed in at 134.9 this morning and am motivated to keep it going. Keep increasing fitness and cut the last 5 ish pounds and I will be ready for just maintaining forever what I’m doing now.

Except for my regular intermittent fasting, I don't plan to do any longer fasts or FMD protocols until after our trip and then depending on the timing maybe not until we have moved. Taking it one day at a time and trying to reduce the stress.

I’ve been easily fasting until dinner lately. Then when I eat I can only manage snack size portions or I am stuffed. Trying to find a balance of foods to fuel workouts and not over eating. Slowly learning.

I started another 5-day FMD today -- it seems to be the only way I can keep the numbers going down.

Easter was delightful!! I made mashed turnips for the first time - they turned out excellent and everyone loved them (even non-keto eaters).

I had a few bites (less than 10 total) of some things that were not keto. Stomach ache before the night was done. It's not even worth it - even though I hold to the thought that you should be able to have a little of something not keto from time to time if you want this to be the rest of your life lifestyle. I don't know. It tasted good for a few seconds, but I paid the price for hours.

I'm not fasting at all this week - trying something new. 3 meals. Even if I'm not hungry. Will see what happens.

I don't pay too much attention to the clock but I try to not eat before 11 am and have one or two distinct meals per day. If I am only going to have one meal I try to delay it until the middle of the afternoon. I also try to finish eating for the day before 6 pm but sometimes that is not possible -- I try not to be too strict with myself so I won't feel too deprived.

Great thinking mom - you should never push it too far when you have underlying conditions.

I'm 24 hour fasting today. From dinner last night to dinner tonight. It's hard, but it feels good to do it. I haven't been able (willing) to go further than that lately.

My will power sucks so frozen doesn’t help. Not in the house is the only sure fire answer.
I’ve lightened up on the fasting. Just going as many hours as I can. Yesterday I ate breakfast at 9:45, so about 14 hours. I ended the day at 23 net carbs. That included some dark chocolate. I’m going to try and track food, water and exercise and see what happens for the next couple weeks. Still plan on fasting at least 16hrs if I can. I suspect I suffer from adrenal fatigue which has improved but I notice fatigue struggles when I exercise and fast too long. I think I need food with exercise. And the right food. So focus on fats and moderate protein, water and salts.

Jazz and Mom - frozen never stopped me from eating cookies. Baked or raw. I cannot have cookie dough or cookies in the house. They just speak to me until they're gone. Sad to say.

Brownies I have no problem with. Ice cream. No problem. Pies - other sweets - no problems resisting.

Cookies? Man. That's too tough for me to contend with.

My protocol this month has been a fasting mimicking diet for 5 consecutive days and then 2 days a week (M & Th) for the other weeks during the month. The fasting mimicking diet is essentially a low-calorie ketogenic diet which has been inspired by the work of Dr. Valter Longo. It is purported to have the same effects as a fast but without going for long periods of time without nutrients. So far it is going well.

@JAZZEJR funny story about freezing Girl Scout cookies... I put some in there for safe keeping and one night last week went out to get a box and they were open and half gone, lol, freezing didn’t stop my husband. I’m assured they are even better frozen!

MOMTOMONKEYS2, I froze my Girl Scout cookies, still in the box. Temptation out of sight, ready for company. :)

@KDGIRL your April challenge sounds interesting.. and tricky. I’m a eat small things strung out for hours when I eat a lot of them time, lol. I’m excited to see how it goes for you!
My monthly cycle has been messing with me .. not as bad as normal but not as little as I know is possible. I skipped my morning workout today. I think I will do a 30 minute walk with my friend at lunch today and call it good. Last soccer free weekend this weekend so we are cleaning house and doing errands getting ready to be gone all the time. Fasting is helpful in this regard.
Have a great weekend!!

Hi Mom hope you are doing well too!!

I'm doing a restricted time eating challenge this month - meals 30 or less, dinner 60 min or less. No snacks. This is challenging but doable, so far so good.
