Its over-cast today, a good day to work in the garden, but have to gather-up some more mangoes and start processing into juice, slices etc. to stockpile my freezer before they all go. (the skins and seeds will go into the compost heap with the leaves). emoticon

Garden should be dry enough to work today--early start before it gets too warm.

The last two days have been great for getting the garden going. Decided to move it this year. So it is almost like starting over but enjoying the "work". Veggies will be going in this weekend.

Talk about yard-work ,it never finishes ! Mangoes falling from the trees, cherries to be picked, leaves to raked and piled into the compost heap .I also found time to re-pot some creeping Ivy. (Today was a Christian public Holiday here in Barbados). emoticon

Yesterday I trimmed bushes, pulled weeds, and planted impatiens in the front of the house. It was 89 degrees but with a nice breeze so it didn't feel that bad out.
I still have more planting to do, so hopefully the weather will be good for the upcoming holiday weekend so I can spend most of the time outdoors.

I watered flowers this morning too. The yard needs cutting and the lawn mower is broken and is just to hard to push like that. The two new rose bushes planted aren't doing much here either. And the berries aren't planted yet.

yeah!!! i finally got to do some work outside yesterday. it was cloudy but warm.I worked getting my flower bed ready. we had hauled in dirt to raise the bed so water didn't get into our basement. I raked it in and put castle rock around it to keep the dirt from being washed out. As it alread has once before..Looks like it can use more dirt though so have to wait to get my flower's planted....went out side this morning and raked our hillside then planted some grass seed as it was getting thin and bare in places as it is in a shaded area.. then raked the seed again.. it is suppose to rain again today and tomorrow. also took my walk and pulled some weeds. so i think i am ready to settle down for the day ha ha. have a wonderful sunday111

Yes, we got rain---and it came down slowly so that it had time to soak in so that is good too. Now I can lay down some mulch on that bed I finished on the weekend.

It was a heavy frost last night--I had covered my new roses that I got--one a reward for wt lass and a matching one for Mother's Day. It looks silly-a box over one and a large bucket over the other.

If you plant a brick with it, it will turn blue---did you know that? I used to work at Walmart Garden Center and learned a lot from my customers and helped a lot of people plan things for their gardens---I miss that part of my job but not the management which is why I quit---plus working 2 jobs was a bit much.

Lecates: It's a beautiful pink...my favorite color! The best part is that a portion of sales go to breast cancer research. My mom had breast cancer and so did my mother-in-law. Our soil here is too alkali to have blue ones, anyway, so this is perfect!

Hi everyone! I'm new to the Gardening Team and would like to say hi to all from Kansas, where today (Mother's Day) it's cold and windy! My perfect Mother's Day would have been sunny and 68 with me spending the whole afternoon in my garden, but oh well....

My husband and 17-year-old son went with me to the nursery. We bought all our totatoes and peppers, and I picked out annuals for my urns and window boxes. I'm going all pink and burgandy this year. I also got some mums to add to the flower beds that surround my rose arbor, so I'll have fall color along with roses and summer perennials.

Yesterday I planted 2 Invicibelle Spirit hydrangeas (I'm so excited about these...they were my big splurge of the year) and a Sweet Autumn Clematis. I moved some older Blue Spireas to make room. I love spring!!!

another couple of hours in the garden today--plus shopping for some additional plants---did one bed in orange and yellow---other bed is white, red, pink, purples---mostly vinca and pink and white glads to the back---a couple of red celosia neat the statue---any additional ideas for the middle area in the pink and purple family---and not geraniums---do not care for them. Also transplanted the pansies to some pots ---they will die out in them in a few weeks anyhow but this way i can still enjoy them for a few weeks more but get that bed planted for summer.

this was a busy day for me. I washed this morning, wiped up the kitchen floor, went to town and got groceries, came back and put my laundry away then went and pulled weeds from my flower garden. the hardest things to get rid of is the clover that is inbedded in the ground and i don't want to use chemicals on it.. it has so many roots, that i didn't get much done before i had to start dinner, but at least it is started!!!!a beautiful day. tomorrow is suppose to be windy. but thats alright. i go to church and sew tomorrow morning then i will takle some more weeds in the afternoon. there is so many as we have had so much rain lately....

Did get those last 2 plants into the ground and then arranged some stones around to create a border around the trees and dh moved the base for the cement table where I want it---now to get all the boys here to put the top on it--man, is that thing heavy---going to spray that area real good with grass and weed killer and then mulch it so wont' have to worry with weedwhacking or grass cutting there.

2 pots are done---the evergreen trees in them had outgrown their old one and one was busted---not I have another pot to put something in---hmmm, maybe make an arrangement once my free wave petunia gets here. It is just too hot to do anything else today.

I did get some mulch down in my flower bed, but that's it. It's just that much more I will have to do next week. I think today I've got to try to get some work done in the house.
