I have tinnitis but mine's caused by any number of things... TMJ, a hole in my eardrum but most likely damage due to scubadiving and just being older. ha Thankfully mine is only noticable at times when there's no sound, like when I awaken or am going to sleep at nite.

That pulsing sound is caused by the middle ear picking up the heartbeat from the increased volume of blood, that runs thru the jugular vein in some people with thyroid disease. Its rare, but it happens.

Just another one of the not-so-delightful side effects of thyroid disease!

I've had a "pulsing" sort of ear sound bugging for the past six weeks or so. Yes, I am recovering from and ear infection, but I think that even though the infection is resolving it has something to do with the low thyroid stuff.

I have other symptoms going on that make me feel like I am under attack right now beyond just the sinus and ear infection. (Night waking, night sweats, rapid heart rate, irritability)

I HAVE noticed an increase in ear wax production since my low thyroid diagnosis in 09.

I also recall episodes of these odd ear pulsation sounds at other times in my life when I have felt cruddy with those other symptoms before my hypo diagnosis.

Aspirin use cannot be the cause because I am not using it.

Interesting topic--mine started a couple years ago when they installed lounder servers in the computer room where I work. Thyroid has been over 15 years, and i have never had an ear infection.

I think mine is from noise damage--it used to go away on my days off--no longer emoticon

I've had ringing in my ears forever! I was told it was from excessive aspirin use (that's a whole 'nother story). Glad to hear of the creative ways to deal with this.

May I suggest that you check out UMF manuka honey for chronic infections, I take it 3 times a day. It has ant bacterial properties, along with antiinflammatory, antifungal, antimicrobial, among other things. A lot of people take it for chronic ear and other knds of infections, including people that suffer from chronic strep. My son takes it and uses it topically for MRSA. Yes, MRSA. It is amazing. Also helps me with pain in my joints, I have Hashimoto's disease, and that was a huge problem for me. I love it and will never be without it.Check it out. No side effects.

Thanks for the reply, try to ignore, but now I'm a little dizzy and ringing is loud and have an ear infection again. He gave me something for the dizzyness and z pac for infection and i have to use hydrogen perioxide and come back in a few week for cleaning. Never had this before my thyroid problems???

OMG..I have had ringing in my ears ever since my thyroid went astray nearly 30 years ago. At the gym, when everyone else has to find their pulse, I just stand there and listen. I even use it to time my stretches. Very handy. "Love" that pulsing ring..... hahaha I decided ages ago to think of it as white noise and just let it go. I was overly focused on my heartbeat, especially the thyroid irregularities that can happen, and just need to accept. My Dr. is unconcerned. I don't get infections and extra earwax though.

K. emoticon

Hi all, Has anyone else experienced ringing in the ears, ear wax, and frequent ear infections??? Never had this before my thyroid was removed. Just wondering if there is a connection. The ringing is driving me bonkers! Thanks emoticon
