Concentrate on whats left. Protein and fat.Normal eat between 50-65 % carbs in their diets. To not eat that many carbs you might want to read labels. Hope this helps some for you.

I have a medical support group which allows me to eat a minimum of carbs per day. I used to eat 50 permeal and allowed 2 snacks of 15 each. This resulted in increased meds and insulin injections. I am not on the schedule any more. 2 certified dietitians also advocated for this.
Treatment for D2 has changed somewhat. It depends on your medical support staff.

I've always controlled my T2 by monitoring Carbs. But confused since Spark nutrition reports. tell me I eat too few Calories? Not sure how to reach a proper balance. Will make appointment with Dietician/Diabetic Educator to find out what to do.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Hi, do you mind providing an example of what you eat in one day? I was diagnosed 12/31/2017 and was doing well but I'm so tired of eating the same foods day in and day out. Here is what I have been eating-

Breakfast- 1 cup of fresh berries with almonds and egg whites
Lunch- grilled or pan fried chicken with veggies
Dinner- salad with some form of protein (usually canned tuna) and dtressing

I do not snack between meals.

Thank you!

Welcome to the team. Do yourself a favor and learn about your disease. ASSUMING Type 2, Diabetes is the disease, and it is NOT high blood glucose, but rather high insulin resistance. Insulin resistance begins from high carbs... that "typical american diet" thing. However at some point insulin resistance is caused by MORE INSULIN. Do NOT get on that train or it WILL.KILL.YOU!

Get off high glycemic carbs. Eat LOTS of healthy fats, moderate protein and low carbs. Low glycemic index carbs are just fine, as much as you want. We have a low carb group here, join us.

Doing this will yank the legs out from under the requirement for insulin. Now study about intermittent fasting. We have a group here for that subject. Don't worry, it is NOT hard, in fact it quickly becomes quite natural. Intermittent fasting will drive your insulin resistance down.

Diabetes is not dealt with well by the medical establishment, they want to throw drugs at it, specifically INSULIN. Just an FYI, Insulin makes you FAT! Your own insulin drives the blood glucose out of your blood into... FAT. If you add more from your doctor it makes MORE FAT. DO. NOT. GO.THERE. You will get fat and DIE!

Diabetes IS insulin resistance and is a DIETARY disease. Attack it with a good diet and you will be in good shape in no time. You will lose weight, keep it off, and your diabetes will go away. Do not "manage" your diabetes, CURE IT! Yes, I am serious. CURE IT!

I have been reducing my carbs as well. Still trying to figure it all out. Do you just look at carbs on the food label or do you do something else?

My doctor put me on a low carb diet with 35 grs of carbs a meal and it's worked for me. My A1C has been good for the last 6 months.

I try to keep my morning and dinner carbs below 30 and my lunch below 45. I am borderline type 2 and I have noticed that if I don't have a snack at about 10pm my blood sugars in the morning are higher.

I failed to mention in my previous post thst my VA diabetes team wants me to average 45 grams of carb per meal and two daily snacks of 15 grams each as a goal. Since doing this my bs has been consistently good and my testing is down to once a week from three times.

Never quit dreaming.

I don't count my carbs as in grams, but I stick to around 45% in my daily macro target. It's not always how many carbs you have, but how you eat them. I eat protein, carbs and fat at every (or definitely most) meal and snack. That slows down how quickly the carbs are released into the system. My blood sugar levels are excellent eating this way. Cannot remember the last time I had an unexpected high. Before starting my current eating and training plan, my sugars were all over the place. It also helps that I get plenty of exercise, lol.

I've been staying below 50 carbs per day since the new year and have lost 15 pounds and feel pretty darn good

I try to help my carb count by using a lavash wrap by Joseph which is oat bran and flax instead of the old tortillas or fatty publix wraps. New at this and learning.

Never quit dreaming.

Sometimes I use cabbage leaves as a wrap, instead of lettuce. I cut out the tough main rib. It holds together pretty well.

I've been tracking my carbs, and I do best if I limit myself to between 100 and 120 g per day. I am more sensitive to carbs with breakfast than other meals, so I try to keep it under 30 g for breakfast.

I also find that protein helps keep the hunger away, so I have protein at each meal or snack.

I think everyone is different, so we just have to test before and after meals to see what works for us.

I do much better with carbs around 60 for my meals 45 I was always hungry. Also I have been reading more on healthy fat and I am going to change my healthy fat to full fat instead of low fat.

I've always had trouble using lettuce as a wrap. Too brittle? Tends to break and drop filling all over.

PINKLACEHAT (Cher),

I've also eaten fewer carbs by getting Fajitas at a restaraunt, but asking for lettuce to wrap the ingredients rather than soft tortilla shells. "Bib" lettuce works very well, if they have it.

I'm with FOXSTAR, nothing wrong with healthy fats.

Decades ago fat got bad press because it had the most calories per gram. You could eat almost double the weight in carbs, even sugar, for the same calories, and more is better.

Well, no, it isn't.

Secondly some fats are unhealthy, but certainly not all fats. A second bit of bad publicity fir fats. But eating fat does not make you fat.
