Congratulations MJ! I'm at 1,889 as of yesterday. Gave blood yesterday but still managed to eke in 30 minutes on the elliptical. Will make the goal of 2,000 minutes this month. I think we'll find that our team surged ahead!!

I am so darn proud of this team!

I will fall short of my goal this month, but I'm satisfied with my efforts. I have a surgical procedure regarding my heart on Tuesday and am supposed to be taking it easy. I'm doing short walks with the dogs early in the mornings and later in the evenings when it isn't as hot. I'm doing light stretching and some very modified yoga. I will end up with about 300 minutes, which is about 10% of what James has done so far. emoticon But I am pleased that I kept doing SOMETHING and didn't just give up. Don't you give up, either!

When the challenge started I was barely going on 3 weeks post-op and wasn't sure how I would feel when I headed back to the gym. So I committed to 30 minutes/3x per week, but now that I have gone to the gym several times and know that I can do at least 60 minutes/visit it may be time to revisit my committment. I think I will push for 500 minutes.

What a wonderful offer, James!

I got in 30 minutes of DDP Yoga (modified to accommodate my injured leg) and I am FEELING IT with everything in my body saying "Wow Mom, you tore us up!" I haven't done more than 10-15 minutes at a time in 2 months. I was drenched, shaking, and almost in tears but I did it!

Now to log it - DON'T FORGET TO LOG YOUR MINUTES!! emoticon

If you're interested with riding and/or walking with some of us Sparkers who are still working out together, message or post in one to the threads. If anyone is interested I will even look into sponsoring a group onto base and we can do one of the many fitness dvd's we all have a group or just use the gym equipment.

I almost hit 2,000 in May. I am going to pledge 2,000 in June and shoot for 2,400!

So far I am #33 at 790 for May which looks good to me but we should always try for better so I pledge 800 for June

All right -- after yet another series of WTH months... I may - MAY be finished with the crud. So. I, sinistral (Sheryl) pledge 450 minutes in June - 15 minutes a day. recovering from surgery and other stupidity -- that sounds doable! whee and, I have been slowly exercising, just not logging it :(

As to your plateau - I have heard several people who exercise a LOT like you do tell me that their plateaus have been broken when they back off on the exercise a bit, giving their bodies a little rest for a week or so, then plunge back into it. Kind of like a reset, you know?

I log into SP everyday with a min of 120 min daily. I avg. 120 - 280 a day. No way poss for me to increase that amt. Wish I could so I could break my plateau.

San Antonio has slipped drastically in the Spark America Fitness Minutes Leaderboard. Are we just not exercising anymore? I don't believe that. What I think is going on is that many of us (myself included) have gotten out of the habit of tracking. It has been proven that folks who track their food intake eat more mindfully and more healthy foods and make better food choices. It's also been proven that if you set a fitness goal of so many minutes, so many miles, and/or so many reps and keep track of them, you are more likely to hit your goal.

I am asking EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU to pledge how many fitness minutes you are going to workout AND TRACK in the month of June. You can pledge 10 minutes a day (300 minutes a month) or 3000 minutes a month...whatever you think you can do! You can do them walking, running, hiking, biking, dancing, prancing, lifting, squatting, boxing, kicking, swimming, spinning, zumba, rumba, whatever floats your boat. Then you can come back daily, weekly, or whenever you want and let us know how many minutes you are up to. Let's get ourselves moving and grooving with the goal not only to blow the leaderboard up, but to get our bodies healthier, harder, and holy-moly-rock-and-rolly-hot-to-trot HAPPY!
