W1D1 done and I'm insanely proud. Sweating like a pig and face is like a tomatoe, but you know what? I. don't. care. You know why? I. did. it.

I just did W1D2, covered 2.6km in 31 min. It was harder than the first day, but I think it's due to my aching muscles from an exercise video 2 days ago. I run outdoors which I prefer to a treadmill, but today was extremely windy and parts of the way the wind was right in my face and it felt like running against a wind shield.
Yesterday I really felt like running again, but thought I have to have a day in between my runs. Do you run 3 times a week and then move on to the next week? i thougth about doing 4 W1 runs in the first week with and then move week 2.

I finished W1 with a bang. My day 1 got me 1.84mi, my day 2 got me 1.91mi, and today was day 3 and I went 2.14. I don't know if that means I'm getting faster or if my strides are getting longer. I did download a more intentional playlist instead of letting it go through all my music random. Found some more upbeat stuff.
On to week 2 on Thursday!

I did W1D1 today! It went better than I thought! My legs are a bit sore, but I'm really proud of myself!

I finished another W1 routine on Saturday and while I was sore after I recovered much faster then I have been so I'm going to try W2 tonight. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I don't limp my way out of the gym tonight.

I just did day 1 today, too. I feel great! I'd love to make some C25K sparkfriends. I was pleased with how I felt today, but I feel pretty intimidated by the weeks ahead. I've never been a runner.

My first day today (W1D1) and I am thrilled! I didn't find the program hard to do, I'm using an iPhone App which is great! I used to run quite a lot but due to bad time management I never seem to get around to it. I'm sure the program will help me stick to my goals.

I had a similar experience today (W1D3). My lungs and heart were fine, but my calves were so tight and sore. I need to stretch more during the day. I'm going to rest for two days from running (other that the 30 day shred on Monday) and then start again on Tuesday at week two and see where it takes me. If I need to repeat then that is what I'll do. It is amazing how much my cardio has improved in just 10 days.

Running on the treadmill was MUCH easier (DUH!), but I think I'll mix it up so that at least one day a week I do the training outdoors until I can do it outside all the time. Otherwise, I'l be SOL for my first 5K.

Did another W1 jog/walk W1D5 and my shins were fine during but brutal after. I rested, iced and elevated and they are feeling a bit better. I think the decision is at this point is to keep running the same amount until I can do it without my legs hurting so badly afterwards. I don't want to push it and end up seriously injuring myself. It sucks though because my lungs were good and if it weren't for the shins I would be totally ready to tackle week 2.

I did Week 1, Day 1 yesterday afternoon! And I had so much fun! I know that I looked pitiful, when I got back in the van my hair was all a mess and my face was red as a beet (but that happens everyday for a million different reasons so it didn't bother me too much!) but I wasn't overly winded and I felt GOOD!

I was expecting to wake up sore today (I...me!...I ran almost a mile yesterday, and walked another 1.25! Like, seriously?!? LOL) but when I got up this morning, I have more energy then I've had in the morning in... a really long time!

Day 2 is going to be a bit of a challenge tomorrow, but I am looking forward to rising to the occasion! I've got to be at the dentist with my 6yo at 8am, and then drive 1.5 hours after we leave there for her kindergarten graduation practice at our umbrella school, so we'll be on the road from 7:30 AM to probably 5:00PM, and I'll be exhausted when we get home! So, my plan is to do W1D2 in the AM BEFORE we go to the dentist! It's gonna be interesting!

I got through another W1 day - W1D4 to be exact, because of the shin splints I wasn't quite ready to move on. Last night went well though, I think I'll do one more Week 1 routine and move on to week 2 on the weekend if my shins are still holding up.

Did week 1 day 1 yesterday, it wasn't that bad but it was just a wake up call to how how I am out of shape, day 2 tomorrow :)

Question? What and where are the podcast some people have talked about?

I am starting week 1 tomorrow...late start because of motivation problems but it has helped to read everything everyone else wrote on here.

I have a question...so I have been reading a lot of articles about stress and motivation because I want to combat these. I find that all of the articles point to important demotivators and stressors but all of these things are part of my personality and always have been so how do I get rid of something that is me? Like being a perfectionist, being a pessimist, being super organized, being unrealistic. its really funny when you think of these things but I am a type A personality and I while I know I can change things about myself a lot of them I have been trying to change for years and cant.

Any advice? I am just having such a hard time getting motivated.

I finished wk1 day 3 today. I was a few days behind schedule because of other commitments so I was glad to finish but real nervous about week 2. definitely moving on though because I'm afraid I'll never be 'ready' if I don't just do it.

Woo Hoo! I just finished Week one day three! It was really a push at the end to finish, I feel great for having done it, but my body says stay in Week 1 another week! It was amazing how much easier day 3 is from day one after such a short time. I am going to wait until Week 1 feels comfortable, not a push and then move on. Way to go to all that finished this week, you are all rock stars!! My shins hurt bad today!

Just finished my wk1 day 2. I went 1.6 miles. I think it seemed harder this time, but that could be because I was pushing my daughter in the stroller this time or because I had just finished working out with my trainer 2 hours previous.

Not sure if the stroller thing would make a difference or not. Really hope after day 3 I'll be ready for week 2

Hey just popping in to encourage all those who are just starting. I will be finished with the program this week. My 11 yr old decided he wanted to do the program and so we both did W1D1 this morning. I had just ran 30 minutes straight yesterday with my own program (W9D2). I was amazed how easy 60 seconds is now but I remember how very hard it was to even run for that minute at the beginning. It will get easier but at the same time each week challenges you to do more. He wanted to quit but I kept encouraging him to press on. You can do this and your endurance will increase with each week.

Did W1D3 last night. When I thought I was gonna die, I looked at my ipod app (thinking that has GOT to be the last running interval) and to my amazement it was! I had made it without wimping out on any of the running intervals! I'm not completely convinced that I'm ready to move on to week 2, but I will give it a shot on Friday.

looks like its common for shins to hurt on the first week! thanks to the rest day though i am doing better and doubt they will be hurting tomorrow. also, did anyone get the podcasts they talk about on the instructions thread? its actually really great! makes the run a little easier to do plus the music the guy puts on is really cool.

I just finished W1D3 - moved at 23 mi./min for 30 min (with 5 min warm up and cool down). I think I'm going to linger at W1 for another day or so. It was a little easier today than before, but I don't feel ready to move faster yet.

BEARHUGS1, I also have really high arches and tend to pronate my feet in...interesting! I just got a new pair of shoes so I'm hoping things will be ok for me with running...no shin splints anymore but I do get foot, back and knee pain...but that happens whether I run or not! Thanks for the info.
