I finished W2D2 this morning and I found it a greater challenge then Day 1. However I don't think I stretched enough before I got on the treadmill so my calves and shins were a little tight and sore. Still feeling good about how far I've come in such a short time. W2D3 is on for Sunday morning... on a long weekend. What a difference a year makes!

finished w2d3 round 2 and I'm still having a lot of breathing problems. I'm only getting 1.27 miles in 30 minutes. I'm getting passed by snails! I jog very slow. I hope that changes as the weeks go. I think I'm going to stay for another week and see if I can get 2 full weeks on this level. I haven't made 2 full weeks on 1 or 2 yet. I can't seem to get a weather break. I get going and it rains. I have a feeling this is going to be the longest program in history!

Just got done with the W2D2. I did it in the rain. My left shin is bothering me a little bit but I did every interval and felt good when we finished. I'll run W2D3 on Saturday.

Just did W2D2 it was harder than it was on Tuesday. I think I get more tired tired each time I try during the week, my calfs are kind of sore too.

I have W2D2 tonight. I did W2D1 on Tuesday and felt really good about it. I run on a treadmill on Tues and outside on Thursday and Saturday. So we'll see if it feels any different tonight. I run faster on a treadmill than on my own. emoticon

Way to go!!! I was sitting my big butt on the couch too and I almost fell asleep and I thought "What the heck are you doing? Napping at 4:30 in the afternoon? Get up!!!"

Woohoo!!!!! W2D1 done!!! It took 3 tries but so what....I did it. I actually almost convinced myself not to even try today because I was beating myself up for not finishing all the runs the first 2 times I tried. I'm so glad I dragged my big butt off the couch. :)

I also just did W2D1 today. I was going to take today off (making 2 days off between weeks), but the weather was so nice I decided to give it a try.
It felt a lot better than W1D3 believe it or not.
I did 2.2mi in 29 min (inc warm ups)
I'm wogging a 5k Saturday, so I haven't decided if I should do day 2 Friday, or take Thursday and Friday off and do my Day 2 as a part of my 5k.
I usually do my C25k out and walk back for about 5 miles, so it wouldn't be more than I'm used to... does anyone have any thoughts?

I did w2d1 last night and I was so PROUD of myself! It was not easy by any means, but I finished it. I'm using the ullray podcast but it's difficult because the music in my gym is blasting full tilt so it's hard to actually hear what he's saying. As soon as I hear his voice mumbling, I figure that's mu cue to run/walk. The 1st week I was a little embarrassed b/c I felt like people were snickering at the fatty who could only jog for 60 seconds at a time. Now, I don't give a flip what anyone thinks! I'm jogging for 90 secongs now!!!!!!!!

I came down with a pretty serious case of food poisoning over the weekend - to the extent that rolling over in bed made me even more nauseated, which was already pretty solidly nauseated. So my Week 2 was interrupted. I just climbed back on it today for W2D2.

1.44 miles in 30 minutes - about 21 minutes/mile. I'm improving, yay!

It felt only marginally easier this time than last time, which is to say, I wasn't thinking "I'm going to die, I'm going to die, I'm going to die..." as much.

Well W2D1 under my belt, I'm not going to candy coat it, it was hard but so well worth it!! It felt so good to know I was capable of more. Even if my feet were barely leaving the treadmill by the end of it lol

Thanks DIGHUMOR25, your right as long as I'm doing it and I don't give up it doesn't really matter if I have to repeat the week.

Did W2D3 tonight. Felt pretty good, but I know that since it was on a treadmill I'll probably need to try it again on pavement.

DIGHUMOR25 if it is the cost of new clothes, look around for a local seamstress who does alterations or even a dry cleaner who can have them altered. Much cheaper than new clothes especially if it is not a drastic size difference.

Mcoghian- My shins hurt too! There is a guy at my husbands work who used to be a body builder and a runner...he said when he took up running again his shins hurt too, but over time they will go away. I did week 2 twice, so don't worry about doing it twice...my shins still hurt, but not as bad...so they are slowly getting better...lol...I hope that you're feel much better soon! And just remember that you ARE doing it, so what if you have to stay doing levels a little longer...the point is that you are doing it! :) Keep up the great work!!

Kansasreos67- I am sorry to hear about your foot, I do hope you caught it in time! I have had to stop working out on my off days of running because we can't afford for me to get any smaller right now...so I'm stuck in the 170's and I hate it!!! I feel for you wanting to do more but can't....just know you are not alone....You will get better and you will be a runner! :)

Good luck to both of you!

I'm sad to say I am having to take some time off..don't know if I'll be repeating week 2 or even having to go back to week 1. It will depend on how long I'm laid up, I guess. I think I re-injured my foot where I had a stress fracture a few years ago. I don't think I did this while running...not sure how it happened. Anyway, I'm wearing the dreaded "boot" and hoping I caught this in time so I'm not laid up for 6-8 weeks like last time. I'm trying not to sound as discouraged as I feel. I can still ride the stationary bike and do weight training. It's just that I was LOVING C25K and I hate to give it up, even temporarily!

I'm going to do W2D1 tonight and I'm terrified. I repeated W1 twice and my cardio and lungs adapted really well but my shins are still pretty bad. They are however recovering much faster, rather then being sore for 2 days I'm much better by the next morning. T think that's a sign I should push myself to move on to W2. Here's hoping!

Good Morning Week 2 Runners!

Today was Day 5 for me and it went soooooo much better....I slowed down (which took alot of brain power to think about...slow mandy slow....lol...I should get an extra -50 calories for that...hehehe) Anyway, I was able to keep up with my breath so I wasn't dieing at the end of the running parts...and I didn't get that cramp in my side!!!! I ran 2.2 miles...which I think is .4 miles less than what I was doing the last 4 runs...so I really don't mind that at all! :) BUT my shins are still killing me!

I almost didn't go running at all, we adopted a baby kitten who seems to only be about 1 MAYBE 2 weeks old...so I was up every 2 hours feeding...I am one tired lady today! :) but it is for a great reason! Saving a life is worth less sleep! :)

Anyway...I hope you all are enjoying week 2!! :)

Did W2D2 today and it went really well. Due to circumstances beyond my control, I am a day late doing this, but it will work out fine. I'll do W2D3 on Sunday.

It was a beautiful sunny morning and I saw wild turkeys and the first butterfly of spring!

I just finished W2D2. I was able to handle the jogging portion - but as soon as I was done I had a killer side ache!I could feel it coming on during the last jog and as soon as I slowed down and started walking it got worse!I really hope this won't be an on-going problem!

W2 D3 done... I think I can do week three, we will see... I pushed my limits tonight and was amazed that I could run faster than I thought I could, it is still not that fast, but it is improved from week one and beginning of week 2. Way to go everyone. Have an awesome weekend.

Our bodies are strange things! Something that was so easy one time doesn’t mean that it will be easy the next time you try to do it. Tuesday, my first day in week 2 was easy. No so easy today. I finished the session , but I certainly was not breezing through. I will see how Day 3 goes and may repeat the week again.

Congrats to everyone. emoticon

I was talking to my boyfriend, who was a long distance runner in high school, and he said cramps are completely normal (grrrr). He gave me three tricks for the cramps I get just under my rib cage, on my right side.

1) stretch the side you get cramps in before you start to run after warming up and

2) when your opposite foot goes down (in this case, my left side), breath out.

3) don't drink much water while you're running. It'll make the cramps worse. Just keep your mouth wet, basically and keep most of your water to drink afterward.

...the second tip may take more coordination then I have. emoticon

I did lower body strength training after my run yesterday & am sore, so I'll try out the tips when I run on Saturday.

Good morning Week 2 sparkers! Today is week 2 day 4...yes that's right...day 4....1,2 and 3 kicked my butt, so I am staying here for another week of running...I did make it through today, barely...there were a few parts I thought about stopping and just walking the rest of it, but I pushed and made it. I think part of my issue is that I am pushing too hard to run my full stride like I used to...I need to shorten it and remember heel toe...when I finally slowed down and was doing the heel toe I was able to catch my breath much better! I still get an awful cramp in my side though...ugh...also with it heel toe thing it makes my shin hurt less...it still hurts for sure, but not as bad as day 3...hopefully by day 6 I'll feel better about moving on to week 3...so I ran 2.3 miles and walked the .3 miles to get home...burning about 1oz of fat or 377 calories..hehe....and If I ran in the NYC marathon in 2006 I would have placed 33321 out of 37866 people...lol...not too chabby...hehe..

Anyway, Mauitn- I actually drink A LOT of water...about 5 20 oz bottles and 3 big coffee mugs of green tea a day...lol...protein has not been something I am watching though...how much do I need a day? I know I eat sometimes quite a lot of peanut butter...lol...been craving it like crazy...maybe that's been a sign to eat more protein..hmmmm.... thanks for the heads up! :)

Crann33 and Em_ortiz thanks! :) Today makes day 13...yea!

This week has been kickin my butt too Em_Ortiz! You are not alone ;)

Hopefully I can get some new better running shoes this weekend! As of now mine are shot! The heel support has completely blown out...ugh....

Have a great day everyone! See ya again day after tomorrow! :)

When the pain of remaining the same is greater than the pain of change, then you will change!

Week 2's kicking my butt. I redid W2D2 today instead of doing W2D3. I may have to do this week over again- and get better shoes. Damn knees!

Congrats on stopping smoking, DIGHUMOR!

I completed w2d1. I actually found that it was easier to run fewer sessions. Stopping and starting so often in week 1 was killing me. Not that today was easy by any means though...

That said - it was very humid out this morning. I am NOT looking forward to running outside this summer. I really enjoy the 40-50 degree walks/runs the best.

I just finished W2D1, and it was not easy. I was only just starting to feel like I could manage W1 but went ahead anyway.

Had some problems - during one of my jogging intervals my shoe lace untied, and I pressed "stop" instead of "pause" on the treadmill which meant I had to start over again after retying. During another jogging interval I started to slow down and this pulled my iPod off the treadmill and it went flying! So I had to estimate where I'd left off and restart twice - hard to measure how fast I was going for the whole workout after that.

I did, however, push to move faster during the jogging intervals, so I'm happy with that. And I managed to finish a day of W2 despite my trepidation.

Angel7912, just relax and tell yourself that you will do what you can. If you need to go slower, do that. Good luck.

Kansasrose67, I also have arthritis and it takes me a while in the mornings to move more easily. I am finding that late morning is a better time for me. I have water, and either nothing or a small snack before the sessions.

DIGHUMOR25 we all have off days with not enough energy. I am finding that what I do the day before make a lot of difference. If I don't get enough water and protein the day before, it shows up in my run the next day. Make sure you are low in salt and stay hydrated. I am also sipping on water during the walking part. Not a lot of water, just to wet your mouth after breathing harder.

Did W2D1 today. I was dreading it a little because I woke up with lots of arthritis pain...back, knees, hip, neck...you name it, it hurt! But I got out there and did it and it went fine. Actually, my sister called and I talked to her the whole time on my cell while running, so the time really flew by! She got to hear a lot of heavy breathing, not even from a crank call...LOL!
